Nowadays streetwear trends have shifted, blurring the line between casual fashion and high fashion. It's made its way into high fashion, collaborating with major fashion heavyweights like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Vetements, etc. to list a few. Kings to me is what pure streetwear is all about at its core. No bots, no asinine reseller mark-ups, no insane pricetags, no bullshit. Just tried and true streetwear styles from iconic streetwear brands that have withstood the test of time. I'm thankful Kings and others like it still exist (Proper, BAIT, Bowls LA and Union are both kind of). I say kind of because Bowls opens whenever they want and Union definitely has a certain audience in mind with the brands they carry. Anyway, maybe I'm looking back at the history of streetwear with rose-tinted glasses, but there's no denying that the fact that a place like Kings can still thrive despite the fact that a lot of boutiques I used to frequent have either shifted to online exclusively or just shuttered their doors permanently is respectable. The fact that you can still walk into a place like this and get some sick drip without playing bullshit games and waiting for drops or buying bots to cop shit is something I truly appreciate. The staff is cool as always and if anything, their selection has improved over the years and they've definitely stepped up (heh) their shoe game as well. Anyway, my very long drawn out point is that Kings is still king when it comes to finding streetwear locally with an excellent selection. They carry all the brands; new and old. It's like Costco. But my biggest problem is that when I asked the employee(he seemed new) "is this Italian wool?" He said yes. I found out it was Turkish wool. It says it on the label. When I asked him if it was hand stitched he said yes it was. I found out later it was machine stitched. It says on the label. I asked if it was full canvas and he said yes. It wasn't. I got the questions I needed to ask off the internet because I didn't know anything about suits. I guess those were the big 3 questions I needed to ask. I thought any respectable sales person wouldn't lie to me about it even if I didn't know how to tell. It was my first suit that I bought that I thought was a nicer suit but it wasn't. I could have bought a much higher quality suit for cheaper at a department store. I only found out after I did some research on the internet after I bought it. I was planning to keep going back because I wanted to give my business to a small business but now I feel like I've been suckered... I'll upload a receipt and the suit when I get a chance so you can make your own decision. I see people with positive comments.
