Homemade patty and seasoned? Soggy bun or toasted? There was a spot in the front to get a carhop so I parked. It didn't take long before a young girl came to ask for my order. Nothing else seemed that appetizing besides the chili burger anyway so I ordered that. "Mexican food" consisted of nachos. Only after the fact did I see onions rings but thought the burger was enough. No prices on the menu which made me suspicious but how much would a sort of fast food/diner cost me? Didn't expect to pay over $8 but yep. Quite a lot. The burger was only okay. Nothing unique. Nothing to write home about at all. The chili was only slightly different from a Sonic chili burger and honestly, Sonic has more flavor in theirs sadly. I wasn't offered any options for the chili burger and none listed on the menu. Chili burger is what the menu says and that's what you get. No option for onions or grilled onions or anything else. It's definitely not worth $8. Maaaaaybe $4-6 and $6 being generous. $8 should come with fries at least. Basic flavor. Basic presentation. Then you're most likely feeling the need to tip on top of that. The parking area was at least clean. People coming and going makes you think it's a popular spot but makes me wonder if there's better places to go even if I had to walk inside. Great place to pick up food for the kids, grandparents or a quick bite but don't expect much if you want flavor. You pay more than what you get.

My husband says the white chocolate mocha is the best in all the land. The owner Jeff is a coffee aficionado. They roast their beans in house. They also have many specialty beans to buy from different regions of the world. Coffee is a newly discovered joy for me. So Jeff took some time to explain grinding and how to achieve a good espresso at home. He even recommended a suitable home grinder. The breakfast pies are also great. I usually get the bacon, potato, egg, and cheese. They have plenty of kid friendly menu items as well. Coffee Wizards is definitely worth the stop! I wish they had one in Lubbock.

We started the 2025 list and we are more than half-way through the list as of June 2026. Heading to the spots in West Texas takes some logistical planning, patience, and lots of gas for the drive from the Texas Gulf Coast. On our recent BBQ quest to West Texas, my family stopped at one our favorite spots (top 5), Evie Mae's BBQ in Woolworth. This was our third time to visit Evie Mae's. I'm a Texas Trinity traditionalist. So we always order the brisket, ribs, and sausage. The brisket was very good - great bark, nice smoke ring, and well seasoned. I will say the brisket was a bit drier than I remember but I will chalk that up to us arriving thirty minutes before they closed. Ribs were excellent - smokey sweet and moist. We got the Jalapeño Cheese sausage which was a wonderfully spicy and cheesy with a a nice snap to the casing. We also had the Cheesy Grits and Potato Salad which were wonderful. The pint of cheesy grits were completely gone. We also picked up a couple of the homemade cakes to complement our leftovers. Oh, did I mention the free beer too? That always accentuates the BBQ experience. The restaurant is still as warm and inviting as before. Parking is easy. The staff took good care of us and were still in good spirits before closing. The first time we were there we got to meet Mallory Armis who sold us on the Green Chile cheesy grits and we aren't big fans of grits. We look forward to there grits. It was a rich taste because of the chorizo, and very flavorful. My husband LOVED the hand battered steak fingers with mashed potatoes. I topped it off with the Angel Delight Chocolate Lover ice cream waffle bowl. While this place is terrible for my waistline, it was good food and worth the drive.
