I am a regular here, I've been coming for a few years now. Mendi does such a great job and is very attentive to detail, so I feel like my brows always look great coming out of here. I always feel great coming out of the salon. Especially compared to other places in the 626 that charge a lot more who are not as detail-oriented, I feel like this place is soooo worth it! Unprofessional behavior. I booked an appointment 5 hours ago for 6pm. I reached at sharp 6pm. She was finishing the eyebrows of a girl. I waited. But then she said she will do the eyebrows of the other two other clients and then work with me. Really? I was eating in the area and didn't want to drive to my usual spot a bit further away for eyebrow threading, so I hopped on Yelp and found Mendi! They're located in the back of Lily's Nails and luckily, the wait was short when I arrived around 11 AM on a Saturday morning. There are a few chairs to sit in while you wait and do expect it to be longer than other threading spots in the area as Mendi takes her time to make sure the job is thorough and even! It's worth the extra wait. The only downside is that it's slightly more painful when the threading isn't as quick! Eyebrows were $6 and upper lip is $5. It's a bit more expensive than the store I frequent, but I'd come back again if I'm in the area! read more

I was going to my photo shoot today (driver's license renewal photo) and I wanted to look my best. I was eating lunch nearby and found Mendi through a quick Yelp search. They are located at the rear of a hair/nail salon; just walk straight back. When I got there, there were two ladies working. I didn't have to wait at all for service. The lady working on my brows was very honest about what shape she could make my brows. Then she meticulously threaded the brows. She double checked and kept working on it until she was 100% satisfied. I am happy with the result and it was only $6. read more

Best place to get your eyebrows threaded, hands down! I'm actually afraid to contemplate a time when they won't be around. Trusting someone with your brows is a scary thing! And I don't even have nice ones.... I can't believe the things people complain about. Your brows don't match because they never do! One always looks better. Oh you had to wait more that 5 mins!? You poor thing. Needs better seating? Are you serious? Go find that nice seating and pay someone $25 to thread your brows with $1 thread. I've been cursed with caveman eyebrows, which grow terribly fast and in different directions. But Mendi, incredibly, is the only stylist I have ever been to that shapes them to my satisfaction. I feel like a new woman every time she does my eyebrows! So, if she so expertly sculpts even the messiest, hairiest of brows, why give four stars and not five? Time. As much as I appreciate her skill, she works painstakingly slow. There have been times where I've had to wait nearly an hour, with only one person ahead of me. (Yes, it happened more than once!). She works patiently, purposefully, and will not finish until she feels your eyebrows are evenly shaped and flatter your face. But sometimes- I just don't have the time to wait so long! However, for the price, if you have the time or can call ahead- I definitely recommend Mendi. (Especially if you have manbrows like mine)- only 5.99$ for eyebrow threading! They also have their own parking lot behind the salon, take credit/debit card, AND have a loyalty card (each 11th threading is FREE!). I've been here a few times now, and have had my eyebrows and upper lip threads by two different ladies. I have had positive experiences every time I have been here. The ladies are very detail oriented and take their time with the threading, leaving no hair unnoticed (unless it's practically impossible to pull out for some reason). They'll even throw in some aloe vera or witch hazel if you request it, or if they see you're a little swollen. For both eyebrows and upper lip, the grand total was $11... definitely not a bad price at all. They even offer a stamp card if you go multiple times. The threading station is toward the back of the facility, where they share space with nail and hair salon stations. The place is relatively clean - clean enough where you don't feel apprehensive. Yes, it's a little painful if it's your first time, or if you haven't had your brows/lip threaded in a while. But, if you have sensitive skin (like me), threading is one of your best options as there are no chemicals that will irritate your skin. As for parking, there is very limited street parking in front of the building, but there is also a free parking structure across the street by the Chase bank along Main Street. It'll only take you a couple of minutes max to walk from there to the facility. Overall, I feel better knowing I'm supporting a small business like Noemi & Mendi. I just found myself my new eyebrow place! Bye bye maya threading! So i've been pretty cheap throughout these years going to maya threading even though they occasionally mess up my brows. But my last experience there had me looking for a new place to go to. The lady that messed up my eye brows there was pregnant and the entire time i had her stomach against my arm and was on her phone -_- ended up having an arc on my right brow and a curve on my right brow -_- now that i've move to Alhambra, i've been a little lazy to drive all the way to rosemead again. After looking through yelp, i've seen a lot of great reviews about this location. At first going through the pictures on yelp it says $8 for eyebrows. Which i'm like okay it's just $2 more than maya which I was okay with. Found out it was less than a 2 minute drive from my house. When i got there i talked to noemi and mendi about my brows and how they aren't the same. Both ladies agreed it wasn't the same. and the arc on my left brow was pretty notice able =_= When I finally sat down and Mendi got her string. I really loved how she took the time to measure and pluck out hair by hair. It was far less painful than the other place. Even though she took 2x longer than Maya. At least she took the time to make sure it is right. Even when she was trimming my brows, she was constantly checking to see if they were even. Although my left brow still couldnt be completely saved. There is still a minor arc to it. But i loved how it almost matches my right brow which is completely how i want it to be. Hopefully in the future my left brow can eventually match my right lol. Oh yeah! It actually ISN'T $8 for brows.... it is actually $6. Same price as Maya, with better quality work! I'm going to come here at least 2-3 times a month. cause they also can do haircuts and manicures (well probably not mani cause i work in the food industry). read more

It's hard for me to trust people with my eyebrows or any other body part. But I trusted Mendi from the beginning. What made it easy was that my sister had gone to her first and said that her first threading experience wasn't bad at all. By now, I have seen Mendi at least half a dozen times, and have been pleased with the results each time. There is never a stray hair that goes unaddressed, which is a rare occurrence because few people thread/ wax/ trim/ pluck as meticulously and diligently as Mendi does. I typically have her do my eyebrows, lip, and chin for a total of $16. Upon request, she can wax in lieu of thread, especially for the more sensitive upper lip area. But I think that it's a $1 more to wax, because sometimes my total is $16 and sometimes it's $17 (I don't always remember to request wax). Bonus: Mendi does stamp cards! So for every 10 eyebrow threadings, you get one free. And she's flexible with the cards--if you forget your card, you can start a new one and then combine with the other the next time you go. I usually text her (the number listed on this page is her direct line) to make an appointment, but have found that that doesn't really matter, because people still come in any time before you anyway... Also, she told me yesterday (July 24) that she'll be gone for a month, returning late August. Her friend will replace her until then; Mendi says she does a good job, too, but I probably won't find out since I don't need to go for another month anyway. read more

Disclaimer: REVIEW FOR EYELASH SERVICE ONLY. I really hate to do this, but I need to warn other customers of the eyelash service I received two weeks ago. Again, this review is for the eyelash service only. I come here for my brows and always receive great work. Two weeks ago I came in for my eyelashes extension appointment. Long story short, she does not use individual lashes anymore (I've seen her use them). She used clustered lashes on me and it was such a painful experience. During the process she had got glue on my bottom lash, and the lash attached to my eyelid which basically meant my eye was glued shut. This happened about three times during the process and it was so painful. When the extensions began to fall out, they would take at least 2 or 3 of my natural lashes. I'm down to about 65% of my original natural volume and I've learned my lesson. You get what you pay for. Come here for hair removal, unless you want eyelash removal as well. Again, I come here to get my brows done all the time and love the service. But the eyelash service was a complete nightmare. read more

I've been looking around for a good but cheap eyebrow threading place and I finally found it! I was getting my hair dyed at Noemi's and decided to try this place out after getting my hair done. There was a line since Mendi was the only one working, so there was a bit of a wait. However, when Mendi did my brows, she took her time and shaped them well! I've been to other places and they make an excuse saying they can't get it even because they're grown unevenly or that's just how eyebrows are. But I was extremely pleased after Mendi did my brows and even they were! The good thing about this place is that it's only $6 and she gives you a stamp card as well. So when I went I confirmed over the phone and in person with the lady that a full face was $28 when I get my service it's $30 no biggy I guess I paid $30 plus $5 tip because The lady was working hard and trying her best. Though my eyebrows weren't fully cleaned up and my full face wasn't really fully threaded I ended up going home and getting some wax because it was my birthday and I wanted a smooth face for make up. I also ended up going to another eyebrow place near by that was like $5 and they did amazing and even tweezed the lil hairs she left. I mean it's a 6/10 if it's all you can get do it if you have the time go some where that they pay attention to detail and plucking the extra hairs and a clean eyebrow thread. Wouldn't come or pay for it again but like I said she was nice and working hard maybe she just couldn't really see my eyebrows weren't cleaned and I still had some peach fuzz around my face. read more

Sometime between my first few eyebrow threadings and now (I like to think of them as my lost years), I forgot what a good eyebrow grooming looked like. I was so used to having it done incredibly fast and coercing myself into thinking I was content with it most of the time. ...until I met Mendi. Mendi takes her time in making sure that every.single.stray.hair is plucked and that the ones that actually do belong on your face stay there. Good god she's thorough. Takes about 20 minutes to get 'er done so don't come if you're in a rush (although I'm sure Mendi would be very accommodating)! It was just her and she was already working on someone's eyebrows when I came in. She' very thorough and the end result was commendable. Once she finished up with my eyebrows I was going to leave but then I saw her prices for other services such as underarm waxing. I planned on going to a different place later that charged almost double of what she charged but I changed my mind and decided to let her do it. it was painful but only because it was my first time, but once again she was thorough and when I pointed out some random hairs that she missed, she threaded them away with no problem. Mendi has a spot in the back of the nail/hair salon. I called to set up some appts for my nieces. She works with another lady also. You really don't need an appt here. She has a lot of walk-ins. But she's efficient and fast. She's very nice and listens to what you want. My nieces have thick eyebrows and don't like them to be overplucked and thin. She did exactly that. She did a little of threading and waxing . Threading is cheaper than waxing here. If you get waxed , they detail it with threading, hence the higher price . Still pretty cheap tho. How did I not discover this place earlier? I used to be so committed going to Kaya Threading even though they always fucked up my eyebrows but now I finally found a place that I can trust. Mendi is careful when she's working on your brows. She takes her time to make sure your eyebrows come out the way you want them to. She even gave me consultation on my brow shape because she saw that they were uneven. Unlike kaya where they seat you down and do your brows in under 3 minutes, mendi really takes her time and her work really shows. I would recommend this place 10/10. read more

Did a fantastic job! So pleased with the results. I usually get my brows done at Maya or Kaya and they miss so many hairs and sometimes even take off part of my eyebrow. Boo! This place takes a bit longer than other places but it is totally worth it. They take the time to get every little hair out even the very short hairs. My threading last longer from this place as well. Maybe because they get every hair out... $6 for PRECISE, threaded eyebrows. Mendi has a real eye for brows that look good and actually managed to fix the uneven eyebrows I got when I went to some eyebrow place a couple of weeks ago..... She makes recommendations and asks what you want BEFORE she threads which makes her a total keeper. The customer she had before me was a complete a-hole to her and trying to bargain with her already cheap prices but she was completely professional and sweet. Love this place!! It's taken me a long time to find a threading place I truly love going to. This is the first place that will ask you if you want more hair taken off rather than just over-threading and leaving your eyebrows super thin. There are times I have to ask them to take a little more off but I would prefer that than having the hair gone and nothing left to fix.
