Love this place, it's of the path in a neighborhood but they are always busy. Breakfast food is very good, breakfast tacos are stuffed full, love the chorizo egg and cheese. Torta is good and caldo is wife's favorite but better order early before they run out, personally prefer the chicken over the beef. Not sure why I'm suggesting this cause they are out of the half the time, actually don't order the caldo. Brisket taco is good also. Prices are right and so are the portions. My only complaint would be that the red sauce is lame IMO, just tastes like canned tomatoes however everything else is great so 5 read more

Hidden gem. Will not disappoint. Love the Tortas. Brisket,carnita, the meats are so tender and not dry at all. This was my lunch later,but I bought the super burrito for my snack. It was filled with rice,beans,cheese,onions,cilantro, sour cream with your choice of meat. I would have taken a picture, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating. Apologies maybe next time. My daughter and I both were very happy with our visit to QSpa. We went on a Monday afternoon and the staff were all extremely attentive and accommodating. The prices were comparable to other salons in Gville that we've visited, but weren't as crowded (maybe because they're on California St instead of on the more heavily traveled Hwy82 or Grand Ave). We stopped here on our way to Oklahoma. I saw the word bakery and assumed they had Mexican sweet bread. The bakery part is what brought me here, unfortunately they do not have sweet bread! Luckily, I was planing to get some breakfast tacos as well. I got the chorizo, egg, and potato breakfast tacos. I'm picky my chorizo and theirs was traditional Mexican chorizo. This means it was good and not too greasy! The tacos came on flour tortillas that tasted close to homemade and they might have been, but I'm not for sure. You get to pick green or red salsa for your tacos. I picked green, it was not bad at all. Overall I really wish they sold sweet bread considering they have the word bakery in their name. While I was originally disappointed, my breakfast tacos made up for it! I would not be opposed to stopping here again! read more

I've lived in the area for almost 3 years and I continued to drive an hour and a half south to eat brisket tacos because I never found any that compare to "home" until now! I'm kinda falling out of love with this place. The last couple times I've been there, the taco meat(Carne Asada) has been dry and hard-not fresh at all. And they're too cheap to double-up on the corn tortillas on the tacos and they tend to just crumble in your hands if you dump salsa(NOT hot sauce) on them. Mendez is a cash only business and I wish they took cards , and I wish they were bigger because it stays so full at lunch, but aside from that the service is always wonderful and the food is the best authentic Mexican food I've ever eaten. This place has been around for a long time. I used to go in as a kid and get Mexican candy, now as an adult I go for the brisket tacos. Best I have found! The tres leche cake is also amazing but I can only get it every once in a while cause I eat the whole thing and it is a huge piece. Stopped in on the way thru Gainesville...got a bunch of different tacos, including carne asada, barbacoa, & chorizo. All the tacos were just average, not bad by any means, but also nothing special. Be warned - the tacos are tiny and overpriced at $1.65 each. I ate three and could have easily eaten three more, but didn't at that price. Didn't try them but saw a dozen tamales for $14. $14! That's outrageous for a dozen tamales! I can only assume the locals love this place because they don't have many options but for someone who's eaten various other taquerias with better food at better prices, I'll pass next time. read more
