I went to pick up my ct scan twice and nothing on ct scan DR. MENDEL MARKOWITZ added bone I paid him. Later he stated he sent a letter to I.B.E.W. he lied . I contacted my union I.B.E.W. they never got a explanation on worked needed to be done I was there for dental implants . ,he evidently has priorities to some patients . read more

Dr Markowitz was not at all diligent with our daughter when he extracted four wisdom teeth. He was negligent in going ahead with surgery after wexwaited seven hours for him to get the office open when they forgot the novicaine. Our daughter was in excruciating pain one hour after surgery. He was not caring at all when he left in a hurry for superbowl Sunday and left no prescriptions or medications. She developed 4 dry sockets and they couldn't make an appointment for three days. This is not who you want to go to. Go to Friedman and Schulhoff in Teaneck you will be very happy. read more

Pain started again on ignored teeth after a long moving day that was excruciating. I called Doctor Markowits for help. The receptionist girl was extremely nice and sweet and fit me into this busy schedule right away. Doctor Markowits again saved my life with adept pain free extraction of my two molars. This a review for Dr. Markowitz's Clifton, NJ practice. I have been through so many different oral surgeons in the past few years with many procedures gone wrong and hit with unforeseen costs left and right due to insurance changes. Dr. Markowitz could not be more talented (I think he even did work for the NHL!) and his entire office is extremely professional. I had two root canals done at the same time - and it was done very quickly and I felt no pain whatsoever. I didn't even feel nervous because they were very gentle and careful to make sure I was comfortable. One of his staffers even fought hard with my insurance company to figure out before a procedure exactly what they would cover vs. what I would. Without her doing that, I definitely was planning to pay more out-of-pocket. I call their office a lot with tons of questions and they are always so patient. They really care about you and it is clear they are not just "using" their patients or advising you to do procedures that you don't really need. My only two comments would be sometimes the wait can be very long - as with any Dr.'s office and I wish they were open on weekends. read more

The doctor was good, the front staff is rude and they treat you with complete indifference. I ended up going to this practice after this surgeon did an oral surgery and was out of network and billed me $1000. The staff treated me as if I am a delinquent even though I made a commitment of paying it monthly. The front staff sees only the dollar sign instead of the patients faces. I wonder whether this behavior is what the management promotes. Would not recommend this practice since the staff does not have any empathy. read more

Honestly believe Dr. Markowitz is unprofessional. I had an appointment with him for a consultation and unfortunately, I was dumb enough to wait a FULL 1hr and a half for a NO SHOW. He not only failed to present himself, he failed in obtaining my trust as an oral surgeon. There is no justifiable cause for a waiting period of 1.5 hrs for ONLY a Consultation. If he was busy or in surgery, why would he authorize an appointment so closely after? I was given no explanation whatsoever of the reason behind his tardiness. Conclusion: Being that he is NOT the only surgeon nor is he, in my mind a dedicated one, I will definitely not recommend this individual. Let me start off by saying I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. I needed to have minor oral surgery and was referred to Dr Markowitz. My experience could not have been better. For starters, his staff was so warm and caring. Every single person I dealt with at his office helped me to feel more at ease, and I was treated as if they knew me for years. When I explained my fears about the procedure to Dr Markowitz, he assured me with a smile that everything was going to be just fine and that I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Instantly, I felt so much better. He is the most gentle dentist I have ever been to in my life, and I was shocked when it was over because it went so smoothly and quickly. Afterward, I had absolutely zero pain and didn't even need to take any pain medication. The healing process was also a piece of cake because of how skilled he is. Please take it from someone who was shaking in fear about having oral surgery, that Dr Markowitz and his staff are the absolute BEST, and I will never go anywhere else. Dr. Mendel positioned my dental implant very poorly, it is about 5mm below the gum line and too far forward on a steep angle. A Butcher. He said he "Put it where the bone was", and I thought I had gone to someone to build bone where it was needed. After seeing three other dentist I was able to use the implant, but the tooth is much taller and too far forward, it was the best they could do with the implant position. I would recommend finding someone to do both the implant and the crown. read more

I had some surgery done a couple of years ago with him. I was literally at the office for 4 hours! But only 1 hour was needed for the work! He made me wait 1.5 hours before I got in the chair. Then he gave me a local anesthetic and left me for 45 mins. Came back and saw that the anesthetic wasn't enough and was wearing off. Well, if you're going to leave me alone for that long, of course it's going to start wear off! Gave me another shot and left me for another half hour. Returns and start working on me about 7:15! And it was pretty rough on me so that I was in a pool of sweat. Maybe it was necessary, but I can't say he was gentle. Finally left about 8:15 from a 4:30 appt. I called the office the next week and gently complained about the wait. Instead of sympathy, the receptionist told me that it was normal to wait hours for a surgeon and I shouldn't complain. Really?? I used surgeons a half dozen times before, with never more than a half hour wait. Talk about adding insult to injury! read more

Butcher. do not let him even near your mouth! he made me wait for 1 before he even come to see me, surgery was about 20 minutes long, 5 days after i am still in pain (8/10). I did not take any painkillers after 2 C-sections, but after his surgery i need narcotics to tolerate pain. half of face is numb, my gum is red and swollen, constant severe pain and this is 5 days after surgery! read more

Dr. Markowitz is fantastic!! I had originally scheduled an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out by another oral surgeon. However after his receptionist forgot to remind me not to eat 6 hours prior (for general anesthia) the doctor refused to pull the teeth. I frantically called a every oral surgeon in the area hoping to find someone who could pull my teeth that same day using local anesthesia and laughing gas. Dr. Markowitz had an opening at his Clifton, NJ practice and completely assured me that using general anesthesia for pulling my wisdom teeth was not necessary. Also, I appreciate the fact that he used my x-rays from my original consultation with another doctor (all the other oral surgeons I called wanted to re-take the x-rays so they could pick up another easy $100 from me). I had one impacted tooth and two that were exposed. Dr. Markowitz was extremely friendly and personable. His Clifton, NJ office is modern and clean. The surgery took about 30 minutes and I was out the door. Here's the best part....over the next several days I had little to no pain! I only took the prescribed painkiller at night for two nights but during the day I didn't need to take anything. The inside of my mouth was swollen for a few days but my cheeks didn't swell up. Dr. Markowitz did an amazing job - I'll never go to another oral surgeon. read more
