Probably number of toppings wise you're looking at a pretty even match I'm but it's the quality of the toppings where Menchie's really pulls away. The toppings are good quality and in good shape. What I mean by that is they are fresh and not stale. He'll, I watched one of the girls working there go get a tray of fresh strawberries from the back and come out front and start slicing them for toppings. No mass produced delivered in a #10 can packed in gross sugary syrup strawberries. No sir or ma'am these were fresh and sliced right before my eyes. Almost makes me wish I had gotten some instead of cookie dough balls. It was relatively quiet in here on a Saturday afternoon. My friend and I went to Menchie's after the movie. When we walked in, I noticed the amazing designs everywhere. It was my first time at Menchie's, so I learned that you take a bowl, pick the frozen yogurts and toppings you want, and they weigh them to determine the price. I thought that was an interesting concept. When trying to sample frozen yogurts, and toppings the space to do it was a little tight and small, so I'm trying to get out of everyone's way. I have gotten the Vanilla Snow, Original Strawberry, and Takes the Cake Batter frozen yogurts; with sprinkles, Butterfinger, cherries, strawberries, nutter butter cookies, and Reese's syrup. Everyone has something they really enjoy, and this is one of my all time favorites! Outside of it being something sweet, the environment is cute and inviting. It's very colorful and the sunlight coming in from the outside gives the space more of a warm feeling. At this location, there is regular seating and also an area sectioned off by glass where there's a bench and tables, chalkboard to draw on, and table for the kids to play at. There are also coloring sheets, for kids or adults, to color. side note: restrooms passed When you come in, you are greeted. This is the area that contains several things: sample cups to try different flavors, waffle cups, where you'll also take your cup to be weighed along with spoons, stickers, and some merch. There's even a small freezer to pick up cakes. Menchie's is self serve. There are sample cups on a tray at the main station where you can try a few flavors out before deciding on whichever flavor(s) you like. The back wall is full of the ice cream or sorbet of your choosing, and they do have seasonal flavors and put out new ones from time to time. There are also sugar free and vegan options. I like that you can pick what you like and whether you get the same flavors over and over again, or try something different here and there, it's yours to enjoy. After you choose your ice cream, you go to the left and select your toppings. There's a bit of everything from nuts, chocolate, candy, animal crackers, fresh fruit, Boba, and more, and you can also choose whip cream, fudge, or caramel to top things off. side note 2: This is a very child friendly environment. It is definitely encouraged to bring children, but personally I wouldn't leave them unattended. While the process itself is VERY self explanatory, be mindful that the area itself is small with a small staff, so tending to excessive spills or behaviors would be unsafe for children, the staff, and other guests. Make your cup your own, but note that pricing is based on weight. You can also join the club and earn points with each visit, just give them your phone number or use the app. I'll give this one a rating: in our own ways, we're kids of all ages. Menchie's is fun. There isn't any awkwardness of what to do, which fork to use, how does this look, etc because everything is right there. There is a flavor for just about everyone. And the opportunity to mix and match as well. A little of this, a little of that, ooh, that looks good, whatever you want in the cup to start. Then, the toppings, oh the toppings. You can try to stick to the fruit, or you can go out on a limb and get all the candies. Myself, I am a coconut, almonds and chocolate guy. Kind of like a German chocolate cake without the cake. Good thing, as I am not a cake fan, but the frozen yogurt, mmm mmm good. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable with the ever changing flavors, most of which cater to young kids, but still a nice variety for us grownups too. You pay for what you put in your bowl by the weight of same, so be selective, unless you have a ravenous appetite, just watch out for the heavier toppings. That's going to cost you. Usually a pretty good place but a recent trip during pandemic has me questioning it all. Firstly they have 2 toppings areas one is covered the other is not. while the first toppings area is covered, the spoons to scoop the toppings has been touched by multiple people (not sure how often they sanitize handles multiple people touch to push yogurt out the machine nor the spoons multiple people touch to scoop out toppings). They have a 2nd area of toppings at the end that's buffet style/not enclosed (anyone could cough over) so eat that at your own risk. Then the worst is the spoons to eat the yogurt are at the cash register - out in the open. And finally on this day a family of 4 came in with one kid coughing. There were at least 10 people in the place which seemed too crowded for a very small place. I left promptly and doubt I'll return for a while if ever. They also have a small but nice outdoor patio. The inside is also will decorated with the menchies mascot theme. One of the few places in Memphis that serves decent froyo. However, it's not the best Menchie's I've been to. As long as they have regular tart flavor and mochi topping, I'll take it. I'm not a huge fan of their other flavors because they always end up being too sweet for my taste. You pay by weight and the price per oz isn't so bad here.
