He didn't seem interested in anything I had to say about the condition of the guitar...I was deemed guilty of neglect. Although I am not an instrument repair person, I have been playing for over 40 years and know a bit about the care of instruments. He gave me three different repair scenarios ranging from extremely minor to ripping out the frets, re-planing the fretboard and of course a re-fret. But I was also told that he is not taking on any new work at the moment (fair enough). I immediately upon leaving took the guitar to a guitar builder in Reigelsville Pa. and was told that a $40.00 fret dress to allieve the sharp fret edges was all that was required. No neck issues. Plain and simple, I did not feel very welcome at Mike's store.

He appears to design and build variations of String Instruments. Is there anything he doesn't do. My Dobro came from his second move. He helped me get a Case for my 12 String. Over the years Tab Books for: "Faking ", Slide Guitar for beginner to Professional, Blues Books and books that make this 'Old Hippey' feel good! Recently: Kalimba, An Original Hugh Tracy Kalimba; and a Heart Shaped Mbira; both known as an African Thumb Piano, mine; had one years ago, lost it. Now, i have two. There are 'stores' in Springfield that sell to The Musician, Professional Musician; God Spare You from The Righteous Indignation if you're not in that League. Stay Out. I'm local to the area and use Tone Tailor often but not as much as I wish I could. There have been…read moremixed reviews on the personnel at the store but my experience has been they have always been friendly, and helpful. This is the chance that if you come in at off hours they are working on equipment and maybe focused on that. They are a smaller operations so the owner wears a number of hats. The hardware at the store has been commented on and for a smaller shop I think they have a great selection. On aspect not commented on was the lessons. The instructors they have on board know what they are doing and can work with everyone from the beginner thru advanced students. These aren't guys who yesterday were giving lessons out of the back of their Mom's apartment but rather are mainly gigging musicians who are augmenting their income via lessons. Most have formal educations in their trade. Final comment is on their repair services. They have in store ability to repair most equipment - none of this drop off you gear only to later find out it was shipped out somewhere to be worked on. You can get real time feedback on where it is at in the repair process. Only slight draw back is they are in demand so they may not be able to turn it around over night. Tone Tailors is the kind of store you'll want to go back to. It's interesting to see the musicians who just hang out there discussing the local music scene.

I came in looking for some black tourmaline jewelry for my sister since it blocks all negativity and she definitely has too much of that in her life! The girl at the desk showed me the two pendants they had available. Plus when I asked them if they had some sort of cord for it, she offered me satin or leather. (I went with the leather just because my sister will be wearing this daily. But still good to know you have options!) Then she boxed it up while I looked around the rest of the store. The only thing I didn't like was that she told me the cord was in a small plastic bag inside the box, and when I went to check the length of cord (to make sure it was long enough), I noticed it wasn't in a bag, and of course she tried to correct herself. I just don't understand why you would lie about something like that...it wasn't a deal breaker, but just thought I'd mention it.

After trying out a bunch of instruments she decided she wanted to try the drums. They were doing a 3 month trial for $40 to see if your kid liked playing the instrument so we signed up. About a month and a half in our daughter decided it wasn't for her and we canceled the membership and we're told just to leave the drum in the music class at school. This was in late November/ early December. Fast forward about 3 months to mid April I see on our statement that we have a recurring charge on our card since February for about $40 a month. At this point we were at home in lock down for the pandemic and had no way of checking the school or anything for the drum. We were finally able to talk to someone at the music store in June and let them know the rental wasn't canceled in their system but they would stop it at that point but not refund the charges since February. Not sure how many parents have to deal with this but it would be nice to deal with a "family" company that had a bit more understanding of a special needs student and how things can get lost in communication. Anyway the drum is still at the school I'm assuming at they keep sending us monthly bills. Update, they emailed me a confirmation that the drum finally made it back into their warehouse on 7/23/2020 and on 8/8/2020 they charged us for a new rental fee as if they didn't receive the drum.
