Wow...the stupidity in this place amazes me. I buy an item and ask about their price match policy. The cashier had no clue so she called over the supervisor. The supervisor said that they don't match prices. Their website has an entire page dedicated to their price match policy. I had to call and talk to the manager. The manager apologized, oh boy that's helped, and transferred me to customer service to the price match done over the phone. Guess what, they can't do that. I had to bring in PROOF, and they made it very clear that it had to be a store in the area and the item had to be identical. Duh, of course..they just made a huge point about it, sounding like they didn't want to price match at all. Well, I got my $5 back, but they lost a customer. Avoid this location if at all possible. The employees here are useless. I run a service van and Menards is usually a good place to stop for many items. But the problem here isn't the merchandise; it's the employees. I have never come across a retailer that operates so poorly at all levels. Everytime I come here and need assistance, whether it be finding an item or getting help with a card on file, it it's followed with tons of hassle. NOT WORTH IT. So neither my mom nor I have ever been the type for bad reviews but here it goes. Sadly google does not allow for pictures otherwise i would surely have captured a picture of the apparent blue shirted manager who was nothing but rude. After purchasing a $200 fire pit from Menards and realizing the 44" x44" x12" packaging would not fit it in our car, we unboxed and then again attempted to fit it into our car. After fitting just the product without the box we asked the previously mentioned blue shirted manager if there could dispose of empty box, to that we were told "Just break it down and take it with you." "Oh and the styrofoam is recyclable" To which we asked you don't offer a recycling bin? " No we don't do that for customers only for our own materials" Implying they have the ability to disposed of this property but would rather trouble us with the ordeal of making it fit in 80 degree heat. Once fitted into the car a bystander commented "I would just rest it up against that light post and leave after treatment like that" We laughed yet, managed to squeeze all of it into our compact SUV. I am so sick of shopping Menards and today was the last straw. I needed something as simply as 20 AMP brown or black toggle switch. None of their stores carry them so I ordered from their website. I kept the black and when I returned the brown was told I had to pay a 25% "restocking" fee. Add this to the crummy attitude that many of employee exhibit and I am now committed to avoiding Menards and driving out of my way to give Home Depot my business. read more

I purchased a 16' X 12' ideal shop door (almost $3300). It was a special order so it took about 2 weeks to come in. First, it was missing 10 hinges. I finally got all the hinges and was ready to install the door. Low and behold when I unboxed the door panels, two were creased. It's a shop, and I could live with it - but not at full prices. I am a Contractor who has been going to this store since it opened and I have seen many positive changes for the good . I have always been treated great . There is only one change they have made which has made it inconvenient for the busy contractor on the go and of course time is money !! They use to offer a contractor photo I D. SHOW IT TO THE GUARD , LOAD, PAY AND GO . Now takes twice as long to park , shop for building material which is in the yard and not in the store, Pay , go through the yard , load and go . Not really set up to make it convenient for the contractor who buys in volume and go there everyday !!! Why they changed this ? it's crazy .....disappointed that after all these years they have not figured it out . This past summer I built a new expanded porch on the front of my house. In the process I went to home improvement stores a lot. This Menards was recently remodeled and expanded. The yard area out back is much nicer and easier to get around than it used to be. The inside is huge, but arranged poorly. Now when you need to order stuff from the yard you have to go to the back corner farthest from the entrance. I get that they want you to wander through and maybe pick up random crap, but when all you need is bags on concrete it's annoying to have to make that trek. The new checkout lines are set up in a really dumb way. It forces the checkout person to have their back to you for most of the time that they are checking you out and you have to bag things yourself now. Inside the store I've had to hunt around when I did need help with something, but once found they sales people would be helpful. In the yard you can rarely find anyone to help with locating products or loading the heavier stuff. read more

I would give this 0 stars if I could. Awful customer service and management is lazy, condescending and unhelpful. I went to talk to the manager and he didn't even get up from his chair to look me in the eye. Due to their incompetence, a simple cheap fix could potentially cost me a few hundred dollars and a plumbers visit. read more

I came here to save big money, but what I got instead was a poorly organized store. Had to hunt down a putty knife. Spackle and wood putty are on a different side of the store from putty knives and sandpaper. They carry a random assortment of food items, but not lawnmower sharpening kits. read more

I have shopped at many Menards over the years, and spent plenty of money at them. Monona Menards has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Most of the people working here are pretty friendly and helpful, but there are a few very noticeable exceptions. On one occasion, the guy stocking shelves in the tooling department couldn't seem to answer a simple question without rudely acting like I was severely inconveniencing him. On yet another occasion, I went against my better judgement and gave Monona Menards a second chance. While pushing my cart full of various items, I politely asked a simple question to the little guy cutting blinds to length in the window blinds section. He was nothing short of arrogant in his response as well. (If these people can't handle working in customer service type positions, maybe they should look for different jobs?!). I left my cart full of items sitting there, and walked right out of the store and left. I went to Menards in Sun Prairie instead. I will never shop at Monona Menards again. read more

Almost every time I shop here I am reminded of why I hate this store and would rather drive ten more miles to the next store. The latest fiasco was purchasing salt for my water conditioner. I usually shop here when the local hardware store down the street doesn't have what I'm looking for or if I need lumber. One day, I accidentally dropped a bottle of rust remover gel in this store and it spilled everywhere. I did the right thing and went to the service counter to let them know. The guy behind the counter said nothing and called someone to the front to clean it up. It was an awkward exchange given he didn't say anything. Usually a costumer service person would say "don't worry about it" or "no problem" after you apologize for making a mess but whatever, maybe he was busy. But, then the guy who is coming to clean it only brings a roll of paper towel so I try to tell him that this stuff is pretty wicked and that he might want to wear plastic gloves. He gives me a look like he is confused as to why I am talking to him, says nothing, and proceeds to clean up rust remover gel with his bare hands. So bizarre! If you have to shop here I recommend avoiding the employees as much as possible. From the other comments here, it sounds like they try to avoid you so it should be too hard. read more
