I needed a bunch of rock and wall stones. The outside area where all that stuff is said get a pick note or list or something. NOWHERE does it say where or how to get it. Finally figured that out, paid for it, picked it up, discovered the pick receipt wasn't a sales receipt. Went inside to be told they can't reprint receipts but I could take the card I used to pay for it to the service desk and they would print out something that also isn't the actual receipt but that I could send in a kite saying ii paid for it?? That's not gonna fly and they know it. I just left. Place is absolutely useless. I'll go to Home Depot or make the drive to Topeka for Lowe's next time. read more

I like the store but don't ever order online to pick up at the store. I purchased a mat online and got an email saying it was ready for pickup. I waited a very long time behind the store and the guy never came back with the mat. I called the store and they said they could not find the order but they recorded it. And that went on and on and on. They'll never put Amazon out of business. read more

Oy, this place is out of control. More things under the roof than I can barely imagine a town of this size needing. And while I appreciate being able to have a nice selection of items beyond normal--for example, 50 different outdoor table sets vs. 2-3 in some stores--much of this is beyond overkill. In the end, the strength of this kind of size of store and diversity of product is also its weakness. I dare you to find something small without hunting down an employee, which can be a daunting task since every employee probably patrols and area 50 yards square, complicated by multiple isles, assisting other shoppers, etc. How big is it? Bigger than it looks from the outside, much deeper, mind boggling, think the first time you walked into Nebraska Furniture Mart and realized they could hold a 5K race around the outside of the building and it would take less than 3 laps. Yea, this place is easily that big. So, while a great destination, and the employees we finally ran into were helpful, it's hard to beat the small mom and pop store in town that will continue to get most of my business where i can run in and get what you need and be out in less than 5 minutes. Here it'll take you that long to walk from your car into the center of the store. Advantage if you need to look at 25 different sizes and types of tomato cages vs. 2-3. In the end, the size is kind of too much for most of my needs, but that's not necessarily a criticism, it just is what it is. One gigantic shopping center for all things home remodeling, garden and maintenance. read more

I had heard about this store for years and they finally built one less a mile from me. I wasn't sure what to expect. Menard's is everything I thought it would be and more. It has a nice, down home, folksy feel. You enter near the lighting department and that sets the tone for your visit. Bright, cheery- those marketing people knew what they were doing! I have been there several times and *WOW!* help is always handy if you need assistance. I have wondered aimlessly for days in other stores waiting to find a sign of customer help life. Not so here. The assistance I got has been amazing. I had a DIY plumbing project and staff answered all my silly questions patiently and thoroughly. They made sure I had all the supplies I needed for my project, too. I had some returns to make and the process could not have been more seamless. When you enter the front door, the exchange and help desk are on the left side of building entrance but before you enter the gates to the main store. Again, they were very helpful, friendly and quick. Love this store and they are doing it right. read more

I went in to Menards for some replacement brackets for a kitchen drawer. Asked for help from 2 employees talking. They acted like I was interrupting their conversation. They pointed me in a direction which was wrong. I ended up going on a wild goose chase with mis-direction from another employee, asked 3 more employees for help before finally finding what I needed. Very poor customer service. No one seemed to want to help. I was very disappointed, since I have been a good customer there previously. read more

The only Menards that I had went to was in Topeka Kansas. So when I seen that they built one in Lawrence I decided to stop on in today. First of all this location is kind of weird because it sits right next to Home Depot. It kind of has me wondering if both businesses are owned by the same company and they're getting the money no matter which one you go to. Just makes you scratch your head. But other than the location I love the store's layout. It does take you awhile to find things because the aisles are not labeled very well, but the aisles are clean and if you go down the aisle you're pretty much find what you're looking for. I did not know that Menards had food. I thought that they only had housewares and supplies but towards the back of the store they actually sell groceries. Not very much but sufficiently enough. I loved their stock of Christmas items I will definitely be back to pick up a few of those. It's a store that you can spend a lot of time looking around and getting ideas in your head about decorating and things that you want to do to your house or apartment. I have to agree with everyone's complaint about the friendliness. I spent over two hours in the store looking around and this was my first time ever being there. From the moment I arrived I was never greeted, I walked past several workers and no one ever even said hello or bother to ask me if I needed help finding anything. Because I already knew that I wasn't going to buy anything and that I was just going in to get the layout of the land, it didn't really bother me too much that no one approached me. However, it is a cautionary tale for when I return again.because it lets me know that whatever it is I'm going to get in there, I better know exactly where it is because I'm not going to get any help to find it and if I'm having a bad day no one is going to greet me and make me feel welcome to come in. I can Overlook that to a certain extent. If you have what I want but you don't speak to me, I'm okay with that. now if you say something mean or you look at me like I'm a piece of dirt then we got a problem and so far no one has done that. I drove into Lawrence today and spent over an hour inside the store trying to figure out how to buy the Cedar split rail fence they have on display. I left disgusted with the service in the store still not entirely sure that they don't sell these and have them in stock. I was being sent from department to department and then to the cashier and then to the pick ticket in the back of the store and then back to the cashier. I finally called the store and hopes that if I got an operator they could put me through to the right person who could tell me if they had it in stock. That didn't work either. I still don't know where I'm going to get my fence, but I do know that it won't be this Menards. read more

I agree with other reviews . I have been there from opening day a few times and the staff was rude and or lazy to help . I had a male cashier that was wondering around his area and when asked if his lane was open , he sighed and said I guess although I have better things to do I guess I can ring you up . I told him I don't care if you don't want to work I can go to another cashier . He rang me up in a mood and over charged me on my purchase . My husband and I purchased living room furniture as well as patio furniture on 2/5/2022 from the Lawrence store. After talking to the floor reps, we decided to make the purchases as delivery was an option (we don't have a truck). Upon speaking to the Delivery department, we opted to have inside delivery ($30) along with the standard delivery ($99 plus fuel charge). Delivery was scheduled for 2/8/2022 and the delivery team came mid morning. I showed them the patio area as well as the basement area. The living room furniture was set up in the basement and we were very happy. We did not notice the patio furniture until late afternoon/early evening and saw that it was still in boxes. I called the delivery transport company and spoke to Doug who told me that his delivery team does not assemble patio furniture and that every year, he gets a wave of customers asking the same question. We were never told that the patio furniture would arrive and be delivered unassembled. I called and spoke to Delivery at the Lawrence store and it was confirmed that patio furniture stays boxed. When I asked why I was not told, the person I spoke to did not have an answer but offered to find a local handyman to do the assembly. I told him that I paid a $130 charge for inside delivery and that the couch was assembled and I don't feel I need to pay again for someone to come out and assemble my purchase. He didn't have an answer. Now, he stated I could return the patio furniture but there would be a charge. Really? Now even more charges? How is this fair? Why weren't we advised about the patio furniture? There are no signs anywhere which state this and the entire time we were at the delivery area, it was not mentioned. Now what? Am I stuck with $1300 worth of patio furniture I can't use because of communication issues? This is not a good customer experience at all. Please have a member of management contact me as soon as possible to discuss my options. read more

I needed some fittings for a new air compressor that we just had installed in our new garage workshop. After going to home depot and not finding what I needed I went next door to Manards. The first employee I stopped for help was nice enough to walk me thru the store to the correct department and got the department employee to help me. Next thing I knew there was 5 employees helping and watching as this one employee picked out and handed me all the special fittings I was going to need to finish my job. Since I live in the country it's always a hassle if you don't get it right the first time. This trip was all I needed thanks to a knowledgeable employee. This Menards lacked friendliness. Not one single employee asked if we needed help and having never been to this location we didn't know where anything was. Another reason for the low review is that dogs are not allowed here. Most Menards encourage dogs, but this one apparently doesn't allow pets. No sign was posted on the entrance but there was a sticker on the exit door. I will take my business to Home Depot which welcomes dogs, they are always friendly and helpful, and just so happens to be next door. read more

Menards is great and all except the fact that their employee by the name of Mikayla was extremely rude and disrespectful while she was training a cashier. I don't really think it's appropriate to talk to adult customers like they are children all while training a new customer. I hope they truly aren't relying on her as an employee to represent their business! read more

1/7/2017 I went to this store today to buy a fence. The guy went through the online choices so fast. I told him I don't know how many times what I wanted and the type of gate I wanted. I finally in complete exhaustion, asked for a manager. The manager was not interested in making the sale either. The manager was passive and uninterested.
