I like this store, they always have what I need. The gardening department is excellent.

This review is for their garden center only. We were thinking about doing some changes to our backyard and went into Menards to check it out. This Menards has a huge garden center that has plants, flowers and trees of all kinds. They also have garden decor and other items you may need for your yard. This is the best of the Menards stores in Fort Wayne. Friendly, helpful staff and well stocked. I won't go anywhere else.

We selected our items, pulled into lane 2 check out put one item on belt then cashier closed down his lane. Please note only cashier available. He gave us teenagers blank stare and attitude like what. So we left everything.approximately $70.00. Then told front desk lady got stare again and shrugged of shoulders. This store is no different from any other. For every bad experience I've had there has been a good one. Get real, people.

Horrible return policy. Paid about $250 on an order and five days later needed to return a faucet that wouldn't work for our application. The return item was only $120 and though $168 of this was paid on my credit card, because I also used a disposable $20 card, they wanted to refund a gift credit card that I no longer had or give me 100% store credit. Service is horrible. General Manager at Menards was not at all helpful. Being the General Manager, Earl Carter should be able to make the right decisions. The question is: Does Menards Corp. care enough about their customer base to allow him to do the job? I am highly doubting it. read more

Great store in size, selection, and quality for construction, home improvement, and all kinds of projects. I ordered red cedar for raised garden beds. It arrived at the store before the target date. I walked to the far back corner of the store to handle the paperwork. They provided the paperwork needed to enter the gate and drive around back where they used two forklifts to slide the lumber onto my trailer. As a customer of this particular menards store from the day it opened I must say I cannot support it any more. On Nov 11, 2023 I had a terrible experience that I wish to never go through again. As a retired General Contractor I have seen the decline of this store since a General Manager by the name of KJ several years ago. On this name I attempted to purchase items at the Contractor's Desk. There was already 4 customer's waiting ahead of me but no employees. We waited about minutes and one of the men said enough is enough and went looking for someone. They were all back in the order pickup desk shooting the shit. Then to the yard to pick up material and that was a total disaster. There was already 2 customer's waiting for help and 2 of us just arrived. There was absolutely no employees to be found. For nearly 30 minutes all of us drove all around the yard looking for help and none was to be found. One customer left saying he didn't have all day to waste here and he would come back later. Finally 4 employees came out of a door located on the north end of the store and got on fork lifts and I ask for help loading shingles. Since I retired I don't purchase near what I used to but still expect good service. I drive 5.5 miles this store when I have a Lowe's store less then a mile from home. That will definitely change as I will go to Lowe's for my building materials. read more

I don't go here often because none of the locations are as close as other home improvement stores, but they do have enticing sales from time to time. There were several items on sale with rebates that made it worthwhile to venture out, but I checked online first to be sure they were still in stock so it wouldn't be a wasted trip. I was going to do their online "we pull/you pick up" option, except they charge $1.40 for EACH item you want. In hindsight, it might have been worth the $7 extra to not have to wander the store searching for the stuff. One item (packing tape) showed there were 11 still in stock at this store. I headed out to drive across town, arriving just 20 minutes later. After searching the aisle where all the other like items were and not finding the sale item, I hunted down an employee, who led me back near the paint where the last 2 were on a bottom shelf near the paint (where I would never expect to find them). I suppose there's a chance that in the short 20 minutes from when I searched online and actually arriving at the store that 9 packages sold, but seems a little unlikely. The pet supplies area seemed to be in process of a major move, with only a few things on shelves in one area, and more stuff way across the aisle in a different area. Never did find the sale leashes I was looking for (also said there were several dozen available when I checked online). Nor did I find an employee in that area to ask about them. I gave up looking for yet a third sale item, as I was tired of wandering the aisles without success. The best part of the visit was a helpful associate at the front that offered to help me find the rebate forms I was looking for, after I'd checked out. I know most places have "help wanted" signs out now, including Menards; would be nice if they trained their staff they do have to look for customers who seem to need help. Would also be nice if they put their featured sale items in a central location, or at least made it not so hard to find those deals. This is why I do not come here often -- too hard to find things, not enough staff to help. read more

I purchased a new Briggs & Stratton model 020541 pressure washer on 4-11-20. I assembled it and tried to start it. It would not run. I put the same gas I put in my lawn mower and weed eater which I used the same day. I took the float bowl off the carburetor and found that there was thick varnish, old gas. Menards sold me a used pressure washer. I took it back on 4-13-20. Menards told me they cannot take it back since I put gas in it. How can you start to confirm it works without putting gas in it?? They informed me I had to take it to Mark's Garden Shop. I took it to Mark's Garden Shop on 4-18-20. Friday 5-8-20 Mark's sent me an estimate for $87.34 to clean the carburetor, service engine and replace the air filter. I bought a new pressure washer and now am being told I have to pay to repair and replace a new air filter??? Menards return policy is horrendous and nobody should ever purchase a gas powered product from Menards. read more

TERRIBLE customer service from the MANAGEMENT!!! My husband and I Bought a tub, waited a week and called to see if it was in and they said it was in and ready for pick up. Drove a trailer up there the next night for pick up and they had sold our tub to someone else that day (1st issue). Told us we could drive across town and there was one available at the Menards out East. We told them we would drive there the next night to get it. So I called the Menards South to double check we would have a tub if we drove there to pick it up that night, the manager said there would be one pulled for us and that we would still need to purchase the tub there at the East location and return the tub we had already purchased to the South location annoying but okay. I had asked if there was any discount for all of the running around we had to do when it was their mistake and the manager assured me that when we go and purchase this tub at the East store there will be a note saying we would get an inconvenience discount of 15% on the tub. This manager was pleasant to work with unfortunately he was mistaken in his information because when we drove out East to purchase the tub from them we had asked about the discount and the guy helping us said it was showing we should receive a discount but it wasn't being taken off so he wanted to call his manager. I did not get the name of the manager he called but he informed him that in fact they DO NOT CONSIDER THIS SOMETHING TO OFFER A DISCOUNT FOR AND WE WOULD NOT BE GETTING ANYTHING FOR OUR TROUBLE. When the gentleman who was helping us asked him what he should say to us because he had already told us we could get that discount the manager said, "then un-tell them." (2nd issue) So the following night (Wednesday night) we drove back to the Menards at the South location to return the ORIGINAL tub we had purchased and to also voice our concern. I went to the customer service desk where a lady called back to a manager in the dept. that had made the mistake to begin with. This manager seemed less than thrilled to help me. Right off the bat without introducing himself or acting like he cared at all he asked, "I don't see what the problem is, there are two of these tubs in stock right now???" I told him that we had come up there Monday night after they had confirmed our order was ready for pick up and there was no tub. I told him I had called back on Tuesday during the day and talked to someone in that dept who had told me we would receive our inconvenience discount (I had asked the gentleman what that discount was and he stated it is a 15% discount) and then went on to explain that when we showed up to buy the tub the manager at the East store was rude and did not give us the discount. After I explained all of this he went on to to say unapologetically, "$40 that's what I'll give ya, $40. But next time you need to come in here with some more information on who you talked to. You can't just say that so and so said they would give me a discount but have no names." (3rd issue) I was flabbergasted. I told him, "Don't give me a discount just for my account I just wanted to let you know this has been a huge hassle and The was this whole thing was handled was not appreciated!" So, MICK at Ft Wayne South Menards you can bet that the next time I call with a complaint I will remember who I talked to so I can be more specific about my information I understand it is not fun dealing with issues from customers. I also work in customer service and get that customers are not always right. BUT with that said, I do not get to act like that to my customers and I don't expect to be treated as someone who is just out for the handout. I will not be back to this store and while I understand MY business alone will not affect you at all I hope this Yelp review affects some of the decisions that others have about purchasing from Menards at Ft Wayne South. read more

I was looking to buy some Landscaping spikes and I picked up a box that was almost empty, I open the box and started to count the spikes and the manager walked up and said, "what the hell are you doing". Very poor customer service was shopping for white paint to match doors that they sell was told white is white. Tried to get estimate for cabinets kid grumbled about how busy he was and snapped you know this will take me an hour to do.
