LONG REVIEW PLEASE READ: As a bartender I am both disappointed and disgusted at this "bartending school". I'm not sure how they have such high ratings but I hope this one will make people think twice before booking! There is a long list of problems but first I want to talk about the location. It's actually embarrassing for this to be called the Memphis bartending school(location is actually in Arkansas) as the building is unkept and dirty. The blinds on the door are broken up and there is a broken trash can filled with trash that just sits in the parking lot. The bathroom is disgusting. The toilet is stained and brown as if it hadn't been cleaned for decades, and the sink is stained as well. The lights in the bathroom do not work, and after the first day I started stopping at nearby restaurants to use the restroom because I refused to go during class! We left early every class! This class was supposed to be from 6-9 with a total of 4 sessions, and in each class we barely stayed an hour. The only hands-on technique we went over was free pouring. They basically give you a booklet and a test on your last class. They don't go over how to properly cut garnish or the definition of ALL spirits and liquors. They have a bar for you to get behind but you won't be going over how a typical bar is setup so that you can get comfortable behind the bar but you will make 2 or 3 pretend cocktails with water. It's no school, and for $295 per person you would think it would be more hands on and the building would be better kept! You're better off getting your ABC license and letting the bar you work at train you! And oh! Let's not forget that on my final class I pulled up to a building with no instructor and no one answering the phone. I had to take my test a week later after wasting time and gas. The day we had no instructor I left a voice mail and still haven't gotten a call back.. This place is a complete joke! PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! I really hope Memphis opens up its own school and this place gets shut down. I just want my money back!

I enjoyed it a lot, I learned so much from the instructor. So happy I signed up for this opportunity.

Loved the class! Courtney was very personable and friendly! He made sure we were confident in our knowledge before taking the final test.

I'm partially biased, b/c I work for Angela these days (part time)...but- I was with Memphis Event…read moreDesign and the Peabody prior to joining the SEP team, so I worked with her as a vendor in the past (and always had a great experience). Angela is like a wedding genie. She is REALLY good at matching the right vendors with the right brides based on their budgets and their personality. I know, because she totally nailed it when I needed a photographer and florist for my New Orleans wedding in 2011 (prior to my employment there). For anyone considering a planner, especially for a wedding- look no further. SEP is a one stop shop for decor, floral, coordination, invitations, and vendor recommendations. Their rates are extremely fair and competitive. Check the reviews on Wedding Wire, the Knot and many other sources. SEP has been around for over twenty years and their experience shows in everything they do.

I am unsure why the other reviews are so bad - Angela was amazing and we loved working with her…read more We hired Angela because we live in California and were planning a wedding in Memphis. We DID NOT want to be involved in every single detail and wanted to delegate as much as possible to Angela. She helped with contracts, design, vendor selection, and with my sanity. Angela took care of every detail and was extremely organized. Angela organized things so well that we only made a single trip to Memphis during the planning process for a weekend filled with meeting DJs, musicians, tasting caterer menus, and visiting venues. Most importantly, Angela took the time to understand the vision we had for our wedding and was very creative and meticulous in executing it. She had great vendor recommendations, but didn't mind working with new vendors we had heard good things about. She worked her contacts to help us find a band composed of local church musicians, and mined flea markets for months looking for decorations - she really went above and beyond. Our wedding was as unique and beautiful as we had hoped for and we owe it all to Angela. I would recommend Southern Event Planners to anyone looking for a unique and wonderful wedding.

So many things about this dining experience was a fail…read more Valet: Waited in the rain for valet. The lot is so small we parked our own car (no real need for a valet). Gave them our keys anyways since they were standing there. Ended up just waiting for our keys in the rain as no one was attending it when we returned after the meal. Totally useless. Server: Server had an attitude from the start. She had a cold, unfriendly, unwelcoming demeanor (Sarah did not come by even once to check on how we were doing mid meal. No words, just an angry look each time she we saw her - completely unacceptable at this price point!). We arrived early so despite it being Mother's Day the place was quite empty. No crowds, no excuse for such bad service. This is the main reason for this bad review. Portions: Small. The $28 octopus appetizer is the smallest portion size on record I've ever been served anywhere on North America, Europe or Asia. Pricing: The fine dining experience in lacking in too many areas to justify this price point. You're essentially paying a premium for mood lighting, a white table cloth in a cramped space, and an attitude of trying hard without actually hitting any of the marks. Would not dine here ever again. So disappointed. Poor choice for Mother's Day or any special occasion.

I will just rip off the bandaid, sixth times the charm. They stay pretty busy and they have a pre arrival waitlist, but I have not been able to find it. Most days we have a small wait to be seated. Interior is really basic and super cost effective for the owner. It's a really basic open room with a bit of art on the wall. Chairs are terrible! It's like sitting on concrete. I don't blame them though. Get your arse up and leave so I can make more money!! Tehehe Servers are young, pleasant, and energetic. Service has never been an issue and most folks are actually very good. I've seen management dealing with pissed guests and did a great job. Guy with glasses and bucket hat. No issues here. Food is here/there/everywhere. I have not had an instance where all of my meal was good. Eggs overcooked constantly and on every single visit, almost every plate. Cold sides. Watery gravy. The sausage patties are really low quality, the biscuits are frozen, held, then grilled to recharge. It's just generic, factory made food, I feel like it is quality of c-store food. It's cheap dollar-wise so I guess it matches up like for like. Three stars stands for "A-ok". I must remember that it is ok to just be ok. A lot of times, I myself, am just "A-ok". If someone asks you how you are and say "A-ok", that would be considered very good I would imagine. So. I think this place is very good then! The unreachable 4th is due to a few things that keep repeating themselves on every visit mentioned above. I will continue to patronize this place and if it ever gets better, I'll bump it up. They do sell food you can eat for nourishment of your body. That's a win!! '25 - 105/111
