This entire cafe is outdoors, so it's best to visit during weather where you can tolerate being outdoors. There is lots of shade, so the sun won't be beating on you directly, and there are fans around the tables as well. There are also those little fly fans on each table to keep flies away from your food, so it's clear that they've done their due diligence with creating a comfortable outdoor environment. This was my first time visiting, and I was pleased with everything I ordered. My fiance had been here once before on his own, and brought me along this time to experience it for myself! I ordered the iced Rosa Latte, the Breakfast Bowl, and a plan Belgian waffle. He had an iced Chai Latte, and the Pancake Sandwich. Here are our thoughts of each item: Rosa Latte: I got mine with almond milk, and it was just the right amount of sweet. The rose syrup brings a truly unique flavor that I can hardly describe myself! If you like your tea with milk and honey (or any sweetener) and you also like lattes, you'll enjoy this. Breakfast Bowl: everything was cooked perfectly. I was surprised at the heaping scoop of perfectly ripe avocado on top--I wasn't expecting so much avocado, in a good way. Most restaurants are stingy with avocado. The eggs were fluffy, the bacon was crispy, and everything tasted like an extremely well made home breakfast. The eggs were not salted, which I preferred because I was able to add the amount of salt I wanted. Pancake Sandwich: My fiance ordered this one, and he described it as the perfect blend of sweet and savory. The pancake (bread) was a normal pancake size, which made the sandwich a bit difficult to hold given that pancakes aren't very firm, so some people might find it easier to use utensils to eat this. I tasted the pink mayonnaise, and it tasted homemade! If you like deviled eggs, the pink mayonnaise tastes like fresh deviled eggs. It's lovely. Overall, this was a super pleasant experience. The server that my fiance had last time (I didn't catch his name) also remembered him and stopped by our table to say hello. The prices here are a bit higher for a breakfast cafe, but once you taste everything you'll understand why. It's clear that all the food and drinks use fresh ingredients, and the staff takes pride in it!

A number of neatly arranged things are for sale which makes the space seem kinda tight. In the very brief wait before someone appeared from the back to take my order, I surveyed the display of eight or so appetizing hot entrees. I chose Brown Stew Chicken which was taken from a big black caldron that was behind the elevated counter. The $5.99 daily special is served with two sides, sweet plantains and small drink. I chose rice and peas, steamed vegetables and a cold Tampico 10 oz bottle of fruit juice. As I was paying, I spied the desserts and also purchased a slice of the colorful rainbow cake. The portions were ample and more importantly tasty. The rice and peas would have been better with gravy so next time I'll ask for some to be added. The pretty cake was ehh, just dense pound cake with food coloring. The service was very pleasant and gracious. I recall being thanked at least twice for my patronage so this local business can definitely count on my future support.

The lunch specials got my attention so I figured it would be at least average for the price. The restaurant is always spotless and everything is in its place and appealing to the eye. To my pleasant surprise, the food is better than expected. It honestly feels like you are eating dinner from your parents (or relatives) on Sunday evening after church. The service is always top notch with the polite ladies behind the counter. I've had the curry goat, oxtail, curry chicken and cow foot (cow skin) from here and enjoyed all of them. My favorite is the curry goat with white rice, steamed veggies and plantain. The portions are substantial (especially for lunch) and including a drink was icing on the cake. I know that everyone is accustomed to going to Golden Krust, Dutch Pot & Donna's but the food and service at Bulla King doesn't leave me wanting to go anywhere else. Doesn't hurt that it's a 3 minute walk from me either. If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing out.

Upon scanning through the menu, my eyes zoned in on the thick Banana Pumpkin Seed Pound Cake and the right side of my mouth drooped slightly and began to salivate. Upon inquiring about the cake, the server, Dolly, alerted me to the dense texture and it's freshness. It seemed like a win win decision so I paid the $4.00 and Dolly lightly heated the cake per my request. The cake slice was presented on a wooden serving paddle which was a nice touch. Found a seat at one of the simplistic slightly chipped black wood square tables accented by a lacquered mohogany chair with an ultra comfortable red faux ostrich cushion. At first bite, the sweet banana was obvious and followed by a light pumpkin seed taste which was appreciated by my taste buds. In addition to the moisture of the thick cake, the scent was also welcoming. The handicap accessible gender neutral bathroom was clean with industrial terrazzo flooring which flowed into the rest of the café. The vintage photographs on the walls provided a comfort vibe. The café definitely does not hide the throwback ambiance by any means. The 60's jazzy music set a relaxed tone while devouring my morning treat. No modernization here, just a straightforward café with a chill aura.

The coffee shop is on the smaller size but cozy and food made with love. The staff is nice and explained the menu. Parking is located in front and back of store and it's free.
