It seems there is an event pretty much every day and/or night they are open! There are activities for both adults and kids and they now have a teen librarian to entice that group into the library. Their selection of materials is good for popular stuff (best sellers and new music/movies), but if they don't have something less popular, they are a part of the Merrimack Valley consortium so you can request materials from other MV libraries and have them delivered to pick up at the Tewksbury location. The additional programming is definitely worth checking out. There is often a theme for the month, and they have a "movie night" for new movies that have been released on DVD. Finally, I have to note that they were a godsend when I was working from home and lost internet. I was able to use one of the study rooms for the better part of the day (as long as they didn't get busy) and once they got busy, I was able to work in the common area. You can't beat free internet! One thing to beware of is that in the summer, they are closed on the weekends, so if you plan to stop in outside of work, take advantage of their late hours earlier in the week.

The benefit of this library is that it's part of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium, a network of 36 public libraries in northeast Massachusetts. So if this library doesn't have what you need and you have a library card, a librarian can check to see if the item is at a library in a nearby town. Wifi connection is usually pretty good and there's plenty of computers available for use. There's three large tables with power strips which are great if you're working or a studying on a laptop. Plenty of free parking spaces (unlike Andover, where you will most likely need to pay a few dollars to park). If I were to critique one thing about this library, it would be how the book categories are organized. It can be hard to discern different genres or types of books unless you're a Dewey decimal system expert. The signs they do have for categories are very broad (ie "biographies") so you may take a while to find a specific book.

I have…read moreonly been doing my own taxes for three years now and I've been audited and owed money for 2 out of 3 of those years, so it's been a very heavy financial burden and it's been emotionally and physically draining trying to run around and collect everything that the IRS is requesting and playing tag with paperwork as we dispute each others' math. Brenda gave me very clear and concise instructions on what I needed to do to get all this mess cleared up and even took the time out to look over my previous tax years for similar errors on my part. She went over and beyond the call of duty and the IRS (of all government agencies) needs more people like her. At the same time, when you call these folks, please don't take your frustrations out on them. It's hard because most of us feel the need to vent to/against someone, but working in customer service myself, I understand it's not their doing and Brenda made it clear on several occasions that she had no personal vested interest in whether I owed or not, but she was happy to help me figure out what I needed to submit to figure that out.

I also learned while there they had a 'Medical Terminology Course', which would feed my previous Army Medical background and learn more up to date terms for work at a Hospital or similar area. The many weeks I was there; with the absolutely patient, understanding, and very loving and talented 'Friends' made there; I have made my life ; because of Operation ABLE's Staff much more enjoyable; and made money I never dreamed of. I have used this library a few times to make copies, use the computers and print off documents not available in the offices. So far I've only been charged for copies, not for computers or computer printing. It has saved me more than once when I filled out a document wrong or needed a different form. The lady that runs the place is very nice and will help you find reference law materials and answer general questions.
