    From giving inaccurate & misleading insurance information to stating clearly that they are…read moreunwilling to discuss the billing practices or payment policy, the financial motivations are definitely questionable here. As for the therapists, this has nothing to do with them or the quality of care they might provide--I worked with my therapist here (who is no longer there) for several years with no issues. But suddenly an insurance issue brought out super unprofessional & questionable behavior from one of the owners, Lauren, who gave incorrect information regarding insurance coverage, questionably took money, & refused to answer any questions regarding it. And if you want more of the details of this situation and the email exchange we had in regard to that, see below. -After switching insurances, a claim was denied & Lauren said because insurance sometimes only accepts claims within 30 days of the appointment, I would have to pay out of pocket for the appointments that were over 30 days ago, included in the denials. -I asked about a partial payment and what payment method/card was on file for me, & her reply jumped right into a confirmation that my card on file was charged for the full amount (a few hundred) & my account balance with them was now back to zero. My questions were completely bypassed with zero acknowledgement. -I explained to her that the account charged was an old HSA account & I asked why my questions were ignored, why I wasn't able to update my payment method for this unforeseen issue, & communicated my confusion. Lauren scolded me about needing to be kind and respectful, & basically if I didn't like the payment policy, then I should seek therapy somewhere else. -When I asked her why I didn't get a chance to change my payment method & why she ignored me, she referred me to the payment policy & claimed they operated with integrity, fair billing practices, & that transparency, clarity, & client trust was of the utmost importance to them. But no answers or any clarity to my questions regarding certain aspects of the billing policy were even attempted to be answered &/or explained. -I checked & my insurance gives me 120 days to submit and that we still had plenty of time to resubmit the claims. -In one spot of the policy, it says that if you have any unpaid balances, you will get 90 days to pay it & a 30 days notice after that, & if you need a payment plan or the balance to be broken down to partial payments, that can be negotiated. In another spot it says that the payment on file with be charged automatically with any acquired balance. In a different spot it says that if you don't update insurance information in a "timely manner" then you "may" be required to pay for some or all out of pocket and that they couldn't retroactively submit claims. Which is pretty odd for a healthcare practice. -If you're going to own a business that works directly with healthcare insurance that ends up being a huge portion of the income of the business, then you should probably know enough about it so as to not give false information. -I also asked if she could explain some of the information in the payment policy, & she basically said she was not willing to discuss the payment policy & gave a very passive aggressive response the she hopes that I can prioritize peace over financial outcome. Which is kind of funny considering she was the one who got the financial outcome and refused to clarify anything & had no response for her actions except "it was never my intention to make it feel like your questions were ignored" & then proceeds to continue to ignore my questions. -she did send me a receipt to submit for reimbursement and that took me 2 seconds to log on & upload it for it to be processed, & I was reimbursed with a check a week later. So I doubt there really would've been much trouble involved for her to resubmit, but she just didn't want to, was incapable of taking any responsibility, couldn't answer a single question about her own practice, and instead tried to manipulate the situation in her responses. Be careful here!
