Well let me start off saying if I could give them a ZERO star i would but it would not let me do…read morethat. OCI in Springfield, IL is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to! First off my son had to come there per his primary doctor referral in which he didn't want to go back there since he was treated so poorly by another doctor there at the facility in which he is not longer at OCI. But his primary doctor said give it a try so he did, at the beginning everything was good his doctor was nice explained everything to him regarding his results and the next steps which was surgery. The doctor said for him to bring in a family member to go over and ask any questions that were needed to make sure this surgery was the right choice being made. So this is where things took a turn, I went with my son to meet with DR. Graves, during our visit I had a list of questions to ask since my son is in his 20's he wasn't sure of everything to ask as this was a very serious spine surgery. Dr. Graves was very unprofessional was on his cell phone during our appointment and was in a rush to get us out of his office so not all questions were answered. So the next appointment was the Pre-Op appointment so I went with him to that one as well hoping maybe the rest of our questions will be answered. We were not even in the office for 5 minutes after waiting over an hour to be seen. Dr. Graves opens the room door as we are still talking walking out of the room while I'm still talking and says see you Friday for surgery. I told my son he shouldn't go through with this surgery, but he was in so much pain he couldn't wait. Friday comes we are in the pre- surgery room waiting everything was going as planned the nurses and hospital staff were very nice and helpful. Anesthesiologist comes in and answers any questions we have and was very nice. Then Dr. Graves nurse practitioner comes in to talk to us and we mentioned we had TWO questions before the surgery that were not answered by Dr. Graves since he was too busy on his phone and walking out of the room during our two office visits. So she says that she was going to get his chart and will bring Dr. Graves in as well. For one we did not need to see his scans again it was TWO questions to be answered. So with that being said she never returned, the hospital nurse came in saying that the surgery will be about 12pm before when it was scheduled for 10:00am-10:30am, okay fine understandable. Then they come back in another hour later saying their was an inpatient that got pushed ahead of my son. It is now after 11am and the nurse said that his surgery will not be for another 3 hours! So by that time we were getting a little upset, then Dr. Graves comes in the room to talk to us about an hour later. We said we had two questions that we had before the surgery, this doctor already cancelled the surgery before he even came in the room. He was very arrogant and wouldn't let us talk and gave us two options he would send us to another surgeon or cancel the surgery. Once he walked out of the hospital room he tried to tell the nurse that the patient cancelled the surgery, in which my mother heard this and made sure that was not the case and made sure it was noted that the SURGEON cancelled not the patient, we also made it clear with the Charge nurse so his insurance will not be billed for something that the doctor cancelled! This was all over because we had TWO questions to ask regarding the surgery and he didn't like that we were questioning him. Along with we called him out for being very unprofessional when we were their in his office that if he wasn't on his phone and would have answered our questions before it wouldn't be an issue. Dr. Graves said we were hesitant to do the surgery and then he said he was hesitant, if you are hesitant to do the surgery why even schedule it! The whole situation escalated and it was the worse experience and we have never been treated so disrespectful by a Doctor! We had spoken with an advocate their at the hospital and filed a complaint, as well as we spoke with the advocate at OCI. The advocate at OCI took this very lightly and by talking to her Dr. Graves will just get away with no consequences with him being very unprofessional as a doctor. Dr. Graves then had the nerve to LIE on my sons' chart saying he apologized profusely to us not once did he apologize! Saying the patient cancelled the surgery, when he was the one that cancelled the surgery. That we were irate in the hospital if we were so irate why was the hospital staff apologizing to us as they said they have never seen a DOCTOR cancel and treat a patient the DR. GRAVES DID! I DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER GOING TO OCI OR TO DR. GRAVES AS THE DOCTORS THEIR ARE THE MOST INCOMPETENT DOCTORS I HAVE EVER MET!

I didn't know until I talked to him that off-brand med and Aspirin are the same thing. After figuring all these out by myself, called Spfld Clinic on Wabash to replace my med with Aspirin. I am not a doctor or nurse. But is this my job to decide what meds I should use?

I am 75 years old and not looking for any mind altering experience, but I do qualify as I have RA, and a number of other painful nerve and spinal problems. After realizing our patient needed intense rehab before going home he was finally approved to go to 3B at Memorial. 3B is their therapy wing and known for being better than the kind of rehab you'd get from a nursing home facility. To get up to the room, everyday, usually twice a day, sometimes three times a day, you had to check in at a desk at the main entrance. Give the patients name and room number and get a name tag. Only a maximum of two people were allowed in the room at any time. My mom and I were always together, so if anyone else came by one of us had to leave. The room was an older room with older furnishings and the only place for visitors to sit was a window seat bench. BUT just like the other hospital, around the corner was a newer wing with a small visitors lounge with much more comfortable chairs and a table. The cafeteria here had much better hours and specials. I was a creature of habit and got the little taco bar and salad bar. I cannot make a salad without sunflower seeds anymore because they have them here!!! What was also different here is not only acknowledging the hard work the nurses and techs do night and day, but the work the physical therapist do. From PT, to OT to ST we were thankful for everything they do.

Yet when the internist started to look it up on the PC she found the consult instructions that were discussed with me. I was at the consultation. I know exactly what was discussed. Please do not ever second guess my ability to listen. Doctors and nurses make mistakes and forget to double check what they thoughtthey heard. I will never return to this facility. Specific reason. There are several trainers here, and so far I've worked with Tim, Molly, and Caroline. They each have different training styles, but they are all excellent, kind, and will push you to do your best. It's a bit intimidating to come in here at first as someone who is incredibly out of shape, because the place feels exceptionally hardcore when you walk in. Most of the people there are already in incredible shape, the equipment looks intense and a bit scary, and the music is loud and tough. However, after just a few minutes in here you'll find all of the members are very welcoming. Everyone had to start somewhere, and the members seem legitimately glad you're there. They have "on ramp" classes for the inexperienced in order to teach you all of the moves and the proper form for everything so you don't get hurt. Although I haven't been coming here long, there is a great sense of community and a great resource for getting into prime shape. I look forward to many more workouts here!
