They have recently renovated this library and honestly I sort of enjoyed the atmosphere before that. They added a great lobby but entering the library it feels very small with hardly much space to get your work done. before they had many tables and now theres just a few with small couches throughout. Even their physical book content seems to have diminished. There are separate rooms for kids and teens and a few study rooms. The last time I was here I just couldn't get stuff done even with a room the teens seemed very loud and overall i couldn't concentrate with how crowded I felt.

As technology veers us away from books, by tablet or lap top, we are beginning to lose an important tradition; the ability to read text with actual pages. The Memorial Branch Library, across the street from St. Mary's University is an excellent place to study for school, a good resource for research or even a place to bring your children. The library itself is not very big. However, I have noticed that the old facade has experienced great modernity in more recent years. The interior has been opened out more and it feels more spacious. Small tables and booths are positioned to maximize your library experience. There are more display cases with reading materials of special interest. On any given day students from SMU will be studying for their exams. Patrons use the few computers they have there. Parents walk through aisles, with their children to locate Disney or other Children's books. This location is very user friendly and it has a very family/community oriented feel to it. It is in essence, the way a library should be: "quiet." You can sign in to use their computers, but you're given a time limit, to be fair to other patrons. They have a computerized card catalog. If the book you want is not there they can send it to the most convenient library of your choice. You can also check out books electronically, if you have the proper device. In addition there is plenty of parking and the librarians are very helpful and friendly. While the selection is by no means to the degree as the main library downtown, it is still a helpful resource to use in our everyday lives. Sure electronic devices have made reading more convenient but libraries give us permission to use our imaginations and to ultimately expand our minds.

However, my first 2 times were unsuccessful because they were closed and I had other places to be so we didn't stay. The 2nd time we came for a play day with my daughter but she fell asleep and I didn't want to wake her so I waited for her to wake up and just browsed around and played on the swings for a bit. This time we actually made it on time for play time. Very packed house today but it was a fun experience for my daughter. Especially since she's an only child. I highly recommend! It's FREE!! FYI we were informed today that the library will be closing Jan 26th until May sometime I'm glad we experienced the old version of this beautiful library! Excited to see the remodeled/ renovated version once it's done!

The library itself is pretty small, and for a library, it may feel a little lacking. There's just not a ton of space to get lost in books. For parents with young kids, Landa Library is a great place to go!

The subject matter may be considered sensitive by some; however, understanding history in its entirety is essential to informed dialogue and meaningful progress. Dr. Isaac Amon delivered an exceptional presentation, providing compelling analysis, historical context, and valuable insights. The Central Library staff should be commended for organizing and hosting such a well-executed and impactful event. The lecture introduced historical facts, statistics, and perspectives that were not part of my academic experience, either in school or college. It was an enlightening and thought-provoking experience that reinforced the importance of continuous learning and a deeper understanding of our shared history.

This amazing library is located in the heart of downtown and was built by renowned Mexican architect, Ricardo Legorreta. The building is absolutely stunning and has actually been featured in Hollywood movies. If you love art as much as I do you'll be happy to hear that they have a Chihuly inside the library, as well as other pieces of art by very popular artists. The San Antonio Central Library is so much more than a local library. Within the building, you can find other nonprofits that help support small businesses in our community, as well as numerous events they host almost daily. One of my favorite parts about the SA Central Library is their second-hand bookstore located in the basement. You can find some true gems in there, and all the money raised from sales goes back to the library. If you have children I highly recommend exploring their kids' section. My kid loves to play in that area and the staff there is always amazing! Last but not least, the library has its own parking lot and you can get up to three hours of free parking when visiting. You just have to validate your ticket at one of the kiosks located by the entrance.

(A Love Letter to Cody Branch Library)…read more My favorite neighborhood Library! Bright, calm, and welcoming, it's the kind of place where you'll see a mix of people studying, kids discovering new books, and neighbors popping in to pick up their holds. It feels like a true community space. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and everything runs so smoothly. Libraries are truly one of the best public resources we have, and Cody Branch does it especially well. One of my favorite things is using the mySAPL app to request books, and then getting the notification that they're ready for pickup. When I walk in and see my little stack waiting for me on the hold shelf, it feels like the best kind of VIP treatment. No searching, no stress! Just grab your books and go. If you haven't used the hold system through the app yet, give it a try--total game changer. Thank you Cody Branch and team!

Even better are the seating areas, parking areas, and bathrooms, which are all generous in size and well kept. Only negatives are that the staff seems a little overwhelmed (there are stacks of books that need reshelving) and the parking lot's oddly designed and confusing, especially when you have to enter and then turn around to drop off books.
