    Large Classic Poutine
    Risa K.

The melt food truck made a visit at my local brewery (Mighty Squirrel) so I was able to have some of their poutine! I haven't had poutine in years so I was super excited to have them again. The fries are extremely crispy and well-seasoned. I would love to just snack on the fries itself. The gravy was a little too salty. The cheese curds had less of a funky flavor that I remember from Poutine I had in Canada. But the ratio of curds, fries, and gravy was good! Although it was good the gravy was too salty for me. I'm still dreaming about the texture of those fries though

I ordered the two sandwiches available. Pulled Pork and a "Banh Mi." I'm not singling Melt out here as many many establishments are trying to capitalize on the Banh Mi trend, but this was not a Banh Mi. Banh Mi should always be on a Baguette or french style sandwich roll. Furthermore, at minimum Banh Mi should encompass lots of crispy crunchy veggies, cilantro, some tanginess and a little funk. Now, judging this sandwich for what is actually is and not what it pretends to be, it is ok. We're talking braised pork with some pickled carrots and radish, housemade pickles and a drizzle of a ginger dressing, in between two slices of toasted bread. I appreciated the texture of the fresh bread, although half of my sandwich was very soggy, the other half had great toasted texture, a sourdough tang. Pork was tender and the whole sandwich has a fresh quality to it. Ginger sauce adds a great complexity, although distribution was uneven as only certain parts of the sandwich had that ginger nuance. I would order this sandwich again. Pulled pork sandwich. Pulled pork was much less interesting. In between two slice of fresh bread we have pulled pork smothered in BBQ sauce, cheese , onions and cabbage. The BBQ sauce and cheese could have been more interesting if the sandwich was hot, but maybe by the time I got home (3 minutes after buying the sandwich) the peak of interaction between cheese and sauce had passed. This left me with a hardened cheese around the bread, which didn't add much. The sauce was typical BBQ sauce, and the pork was decent enough. Some onions and cabbage add some texture, but onions were too harsh, a little caramelization would have been great, or maybe go with a red onion. I would not order this sandwich again.

Omg what a great food truck. I had had the Cubans and the chipotle chicken and both were out of this world. Welcome to the greenway. This is now my new favorite food truck.

    The poutine...half eaten...so good!

The food looked delicious, however our order never made it to the table. Two hours turnaround is too long.

You have to try the Chiptole Chicken sandwhich and Poutine from Melt if you are at the Wachusett Mountain food event today. Excellent!

We came to a local brewery specifically because we knew this truck would be there and they had poutine (see pic).

Yeah, I wrote my first review of this place almost exactly two years ago and I was just starting…read moreout my BBQ Reviews. Since then I've been to over a hundred other places. I regret giving them 5 stars based off of the Ribs from that day and nothing else. I guess they have a second truck in Florida during the winter? Maybe they just take to truck to Florida for that season but it's a bit annoying because they keep saying where they are going to be but not what state. Anyways ... Still no regular brisket, just the sandwich. Now they have Egg Rolls ... yippee. I've come to a determining factor when it comes to the quality of BBQ spots. Unless they are known for them, if a menu has Egg Rolls or Loaded Mac and Cheese options ... it's probably bad. Need to spend a bit more time making your Mac and Cheese GOOD before throwing a bunch of bbq sauce and meat on it to make it look like it's good. And Egg Rolls are just ... no. Focus on the quality of the meat right out of the smoker, not all this dumb "how can we make it seem like fair food that dumb people will buy anyway". So Ribs were dry, not pre-cut like they were before, extra hard bark, Slathered in sauce to the point I was carrying a styrofoam carton of sauce with some ribs for garnish. Didn't even get a plastic knife to cut through them which wouldn't have worked anyway. Clearly these were cooked days ago and just reheated. And I was the first customer of the day. And they opened up 30 minutes late. Mac and cheese was extremely flavorless. That means it has so much NONE flavor to it that it sucks any flavor out of your mouth so you can't taste Anything. Just a White cheese sauce that should win a prize for least flavored food ever ... water has more taste than this. Coleslaw was too old, cabbage wasn't crispy anymore, drowning in mayo. Only reason I was eating it was because I needed to get the taste out of my mouth from the dry ribs. Oh and they had "on special" Fried Cornbread Bites ... Which is translated into Literal Language as "We have some old corn bread so well slice it up, butter it, and throw it in the frier for a few and charge more for it and call it a special" ... This is not quality BBQ. And they have 2 sauce options. Sweet and Hickory ... why they slathered my ribs in Sweet is beyond me. Doesn't matter anyway, they don't make either one of them. All these other 5 star reviews, especially the ones saying they've had BBQ in North Carolina and Tennessee and all that, If you don't eat BBQ like crazy then I guess you'll think it's great. Not every BBQ joint in the BBQ Belt is automatically some of the BEST BBQ on the planet. A LOT of them REALLY SUCK! But if your standards are chill then I guess you'll be okay with this place but personally I feel like you are getting scammed. Days old Ribs, Flavorless Mac and Cheese, Whole menu section dedicated to "Loaded" mac and Cheese to make it taste like something, Menu section dedicated to Egg Rolls to make it taste like something, Old Slaw, Brisket Sandwich but no Brisket plain, pictures posted of the same items aren't matching up, "Fried Cornbread" which is old cornbread but costs 3 times as much. Sorry, it's just not cutting it for me.

To put it into perspective, even if it was a $5 combo, I would still be deeply disappointed in the quality of the food. It wasn't just subpar quality as well, the hotdog served was lukewarm at most, and the bun was cold. Some fries just straight up weren't cooked. This was the very first time in my life that I've bought food from a restaurant and felt genuinely scammed. In fact, I have never left a negative review on anything in my life. But this business just seems disingenuous. Until they change their prices or improve the quality and effort they put into their food considerably, just don't waste your money. Pick a different food truck, or pick a different restaurant at the mall. (This was at their Solomon Pond Mall location. Was excited to try it, but unfortunately it is what it is.)

Bag of chips? Can of soda? Yes. But do not expect much more. Lovely for a quick snack on a drive home as well.
