Stopped by Mel's in Morocco Indiana for a bite to eat tonight and our waitress " Amy" was amazing. Not only was the restaurant full of customers.....she was the only waitress there and she never missed a beat..... wiping off tables, taking orders, filling drinks, serving the food, answering the phone and taking phone orders , checking back with customers to make sure they were doing ok, all while being so positive and very personable!!!!!!! The only thing she wasn't doing was " cooking". But I bet she sure could have!!!!! Absolutely 5 Stars!!!!!!! Plus the food was delicious also!!! We had the pizza sticks!!!!!! The ribs on Sat night are fantastic. A small place. It may be a bit out-of-the-way for some, but the food was excellent and the service could not have been better waitress had her hands full but did an amazing job. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

We stopped to pick up some breakfast sandwiches as we were traveling. It takes a little longer than fast food but sooo worth it!! Real eggs, biscuit, croissant and English muffins all fresh. Delicious sandwiches!! So yummy! Highly recommend! read more

Fantastic service! The food was tasty - I had the Italian sausage, and my partner had the pizza burger. Both were well prepared, and generous serving. The broccoli-cheese soup was a real star. For a small town diner that everyone loves, I just don't see it anymore. I used to order once a month, but over the last couple of years, it's dropped to once every 6 months. Their food is decent; they do a few menu items well, the rest is just ok. They will always mess up your order if you ask for a simple condiment change. There's no communication or care if there is communication. Don't order for a carryout without checking your order yourself; you'll likely be missing the salad dressing for your salad or cup of cheese for your dots. Happens EVERY time. They pay zero attention to detail or accuracy. Best bet is to sit in to eat to ensure your meal is correct, but they'll still screw something up somehow. read more

Really good italian shaved beef. Fries were great. People are very nice, kind to travelers which may be a concern for oytsiders that wind up way out here like me. Don't ve histant to come enjoy they super small town hospitality they have to offer. And try the Italian Beef sandwich! It's massive but so much better then what I would have expected. read more

The first thing I saw upon entering was an old bust of Elvis in the corner. Shortly after I sat down I was talking to a local and it turned out this guy was both the town school bus driver AND the postal delivery person. Yes, welcome to super rural Indiana. With that said I decided to not judge too harshly on the mismatched tables and chairs or the poor choice of displayed "art". I had the Malibu Chicken dinner with fries and soup. The Twice Baked Potato soup was possibly the best soup I've had in the last few years. Large firm potato cubes, a selection of veggies, and enough cut up bacon to equal it's own sandwich. The chicken was solid as well with a juicy boneless breast, ham off the bone, and an ample amount of mozzarella cheese melted on top. The Italian Beef sandwich came with a bowl of a jus and the fries were meaty and crispy. Another winning meal. The only negatives here are CASH ONLY sales and a very tiny single bathroom. But again, it's a small diner in a small rural town and these weren't big issues. If you're driving past on 114 then make the three block drive north to downtown Morocco and eat at Mel's!! read more

The food here is spectacular. They have a wide range of food and for a small price you get A LOT of food. As an appetizer I suggest you get their Garlic Dots. The pizza for a main dish is great and the burgers are the best around. Small place in a small town, so you can only use cash or local check, which is the only downside. read more

First off plenty to eat. I had Mel's special Italian Beef. Delightful beef piled high on a fresh bun toasted with garlic butter and covered with fried peppers and grilled onions and mozzarella cheese. My wife had the Malibu Chicken she loved it and she is very hard to please. Only drawback is its very small (8 tables) so I would suggest going off hours. Service was very good. Skin on fries, perch, bluegill, homemade slaw. What's not to like? Our server couldn't have been more pleasant. She only works at Mel's on Fridays, but truly made our stop a pleasure. Hoosier hospitality at its best! read more

This was a spontaneous stop on our way home from Chicago and wow are we glad we came! Great service, and even more delicious food! I got a 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger with onion straws and my husband got a double bacon cheeseburger and curly fries and cheese. We traded burgers because I prefer thinner, crispy edged patties. It's a massive meal, neither one of us finished and we got a box to take home. When we are in the area again, we will without a doubt be back! Thanks Mel! read more

Eat local. Support small businesses. This is good diner food. Don't expect it to be anything else and you are going to be happy. Just had the dinner special: 1/2 rack of BBQ pork ribs so tender the meat was falling off the bone. Also the lake perch special that tasted like being at someone's back yard fish fry. Yum! I love pie. This small town restaurant has six or more varieties on their daily menu. I had rhubarb with a scoop of ice cream and my partner had chocolate cream pie. A slice of pie was $3.50 which I think is very reasonable. read more

This place is amazing. Great food at reasonable prices, it's a hidden gem down in rural Indiana. Make sure you try their fried dough covered in cinnamon with frosting to dip into. (My family prefers the garlic version, but I like the dessert king better.) read more

I came to this town just to pass through on my way to seek more food to critique. I had noticed this little restaurant, and decided to give it a go.
