As well as acting as a gathering point for Oxford cyclists, and a distributor of information on safe cycling, they provide a membership scheme. For an annual fee of £9 (£6 for the unwaged), you get free workshop access and support, a dividend card which allows you to collect point on all items in stock which build towards discounts, discounted Introduction to Cycle Maintenance Courses, one-on-one training, access to further courses such as wheel building, and a monthly e-mail newsletter. Really helpful, and have 'new' stock all the time so do go back if they don't have what you're after first time. V helpful for bike maintenance as well as purchasing. Would definitely recommend getting a good quality 'recycled bike' from here rather than a new shiny one that matches all the others from one of the Cowley Rd shops...

One of the best customer service I ever had! My partner…read morebought a shorts for me, and I ended up not liking it. Since it was a present, the receipt was already in the bin. She went, they promptly took the stuff back and instantly issued a monetary voucher. No fuss, no bull shit. Now with that, I buy her a T, she dislikes. They again take the stuff back and reissues, yes, another voucher! Liked a pair of biking glares, one of the staff, voluntarily came down to explain the specifications of the respective shades. When I downed on one, they even gave 10% student discount, without any hue and cry! These guys couldn't be more helpful. And, they really know their stuff. The quality of the products is excellent and the shop has got a huge stock! The shop, is definitely worth a visit, if you are an outdoor sports guy! Recommended? Yes, definitely!

I got my most recent bicycle from here - (a cute retro style ladies number, complete with shopping basked, but boy can it nip along). Mountain, road, hybrid, kid's, trikes, folding/touring - and all the top brands including Ridgeback, Kona, Marin and Whyte. They have speedy deals of the month and the staff have massive brains full of expert, tried-and-tested biking knowledge (many of them are amateur downhill racers in their spare time too), just ask them! Any bike you buy comes with a quarterly service for just a little bit extra money. Now, on yer bike son!

Now the Bike Shed has moved to Cathedral Road it has more space than at its old premises on Wyndham Crescent, and they've added new makes to their range including Trek, Pashley, Raleigh and Cooper. Apart from the bikes themselves, they also have loads of cycling accessories, from child seats for the back of your bike through to gloves, helmets and clothing. From fairly low-price goods through to high-end brands, they offer stock for most budgets. You can also get your bike repaired and serviced by experienced staff and they supply parts by dozens of cycling brands such as Rock Shox, Endura, Truvativ, Shimano, Mavic, Avid, etc. The staff are all cycling experts, and are knowledgeable on local issues such as good biking trails and Cardiff's Bike To Work scheme - so you can find out all sorts by having a chat with them. Highly recommended for any Cardiff cyclists out there.

This is where local business beats the big national chains…read more National chains usually employ someone who looks decent enough, doesn't have a criminal record and can just about string a sentence together without swearing. They don't care if they have any knowledge or passion about the product they are selling. The people working at the Bike Shed know their stuff and you can tell - their enthusiasm is infectious. They don't won't to sell you a bike to make money, they want to find you the right bike so you enjoy biking. That's why I bought a bike off them that I ride all the time. If you're after a bike or just some advice - pop in here -there is no hard sell just friendly advice.
