I have a giant, fluffy english cream golden retriever. She's large and in-charge but her grooming…read moreis difficult to manage. In addition to the dog fur party, she's nervous around anything that makes an electronic noise so forget clippers, hair dryers, etc and definitely forget about letting dog-parents cut her nails. We had searched and attempted tons of groomers....and then a we got some recommendations to try Just for Pets. What I wish is that we went there sooner. The groomers are kind and knowledgable, they discuss techniques and inform of issues if spotted. My dog comes out with a bandana some of the time, which is cute as can be. (I get it, the circumference of her neck is on the bigger side!) But even without some accessorizing, my dog looks great after grooming. The prices are on par with the area. And let me tell you, we live on the East End of Louisville. We drive 30 mins to get Gypsy groomed here. Worth the drive.

Grooming: The last 2 times our dog has been here they've injured our pup. (Never happened anywhere else.) They also scissor trimmed off one of our dog's natural features even tho I told them not to. Boarding: Lots of red flags here, but the worst was our dog smelled absolutely revolting from bacteria which indicated our pup was either stressed out during the stay or the facilities weren't clean.

From day one, Hunter made everything look easy. Gracie absolutely loved him, and it showed in how quickly she picked up new skills and behaviors. Hunter was always patient, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. One thing we really appreciated was how well he communicated with us--he gave clear feedback and helpful tips on how we were handling Gracie so we could keep improving her results at home. He was honest without ever being discouraging, and he always set us up for success. The use of the e-collar and leash training was handled thoughtfully and effectively, and the group meetup at Bass Pro with the other dogs in the program was a great bonus. It gave Gracie a chance to work around real-world distractions, and we were able to see how far she'd come. Overall, Hunter exceeded our expectations. Gracie is more confident, better behaved, and genuinely enjoys showing off what she's learned. We highly recommend Hunter to anyone looking for a skilled, caring, and results-driven dog trainer. If you'd like, I can also rewrite it in a more emotional, humorous, shorter, or more formal tone.

Luckily for us, For the Love of Dogs worked perfectly for our dog, Gypsy. Gypsy came out looking fresh, trimmed, and cleaned. She even smelled nice. We highly recommend For the Love of Dogs but moved a little too far. The schedule is always booked so don't think you can 'squeeze in' here; that's not a thing.

It took us several weeks to get an appointment, which after his appt I can understand why. They were AMAZING! Customer service was top notch. I appreciate that they actually ask for canine vaccination records prior to their appt. They went over in detail every aspect of his groom, asking my preference on cut, length, etc. I met with his groomer personally at drop off. She advised me of pricing, $50, which is reasonable for a doodle in my opinion. She told me it would take her roughly 3-4 hrs to complete, and they would let me know when he was done. Upon pick up. Brownie was resting comfortably on a towel in a crate. The room was quiet...there was 1 other dog in a crate. I told them that Brownie loved people but was fearful of other dogs. (We are working on that.) She said she put him in the quieter room and you could tell he was very comfortable. Their facility is very secure, as you have to be let into the building. Parking is able and close to the door. The groomer came out at pick up to ensure I was pleased with his groom. All around top notch service!!!

They didn't tell me the cost right up until I basically told them straight up, "no one had told me the cost." They wanted $98 for what I can get everywhere else for $60-$75. I wanted him bathed and brushed out and the long hair on his belly and butt to be trimmed up & toothbrushed. He's a corgi and isn't a full haircut kinda guy. Typically the mini cut & bath with furminator is $45-65 & the toothbrushing is $10-12, so $55-75! Nowhere near $98. Your first interaction with the place is sitting down and being shown all kinds of charges they can freely add on if so & so occurs. If they see a flea it's an automatic $$ extra charge for flea bath, if they decide the dog is extra dirty it's another charge, etc etc. There's a 2 page list of arbitrary charges they can impose. Based on all of this and the random extra charges they make you sign made me lose trust in this place. I honestly think they'd rip you off with more bogus charges if you book with them on top of an inflated grooming price. They aren't warm to your animal upon entering. If they lowered their prices in the future it wouldn't drive people back because they've already established their reputation and priorities.
