Sierra the cashier needs a raise. I'll say that again Petco managers, Sierra with glasses and short hair who worked Christmas Eve today deserves a Christmas bonus and then a RAISE! She was super helpful, and had the best attitude even though she was working on Christmas Eve, and just made our day. Had an apt for a dog nail trim. After several minutes tech came and told us they could not control the dog and that they were not able to do the trim. I expected to have to pay for a trim however they charged $42.00 for an office visit. Seems like $42.00 was a bit excessive. We will certainly not bring any of our pets back to this place. read more

I had my hands FULL of items and they wouldn't provide me with a bag. The only option I had was to "purchase" a bag by donating either $10 or $20. Granted, I wasn't going that far but if you wanted to stop at the store next by after shopping here, you couldn't I'd you bought enough things. read more

Employees are late and can't show up for a grooming appointment on time. Had a session scheduled at 9am and the employee was "late due to traffic" for over 45 mins. I'll be finding a mom and pop shop for our grooming needs. Typical chain store with subpar employees. Hard to find good help nowadays. read more

I've never ordered anything from Petco before. I did this time for my pet's heart medication because Petco offered next day delivery whereas others would have taken 2-3 days. And I confirmed when placing my order that it would in fact be here the next day. Well it's been 3 days, and Petco still hasn't even processed the order. Their customer service is completely unhelpful and says I'll be receiving an e-mail update within the next week. What a disgrace of a business. I absolutely will never order something from this sleezy operation again, and only hope that my pet doesn't die as a result of their incompetence. read more

I began patronizing this store shortly before Christmas and was impressed with their displays, layout, and helpful staff. But a week or so ago I was in the store and overhead another customer being treated in a manner that I would consider unprofessional. Obviously with Covid-19 we all need to be safe and considerate of others and observe mask and distancing protocol--I completely concede this standard. However, a middle-aged (or perhaps older) lady was off to the side when I were in there, no contact with anyone at all, and briefly dropped her mask down, ostensibly to speak clearly to someone she was shopping with. A store employee immediately said "Maam, I need you to put your mask up!" The tone may not have been intended to sound angry, and perhaps it wasn't, but it was certainly disciplinarian. I think she could have asked nicely and thanked the customer. As it was, there was something of a rebuke and then she just walked away. This made me feel that I may just select a different pet store chain in the future. Yes, these are tenuous and uncertain times, and we're all on edge I suppose, but customers still need to be treated as adults and with respect unless there is blatant protest of the rules in a quasi-belligerent manner, none of which seemed to be cogent in this incident. The store, those things aside, IS professional and clean, and the animals seem well maintained. I would like to see more species-specific information in the reptile section which has too many examples that are generically labeled. The location is very good, as it is easy in-easy-out, and my personal experiences with staff, including the purchase of a fish at Christmas, was positive. Please though be mindful that most customers are not trying to breach the rules but sometimes just need a quick breath. read more

I am frustrated with ordering veterinary prescription diets. I have already submitted the rx from the vet 3 xs now. I don't understand why it has to be uploaded everytime I order although the rx states clearly good through February of 2024. It's a real pain when ordering $250 or more of several types of prescription foods. Pls fix this read more

First time visiting PetCo. I thought the store was nice and it had a variety of items. What upset me was that I was there with my friend. We both had our dogs with us. One of the cashiers made a point to come to the isle we was in. She brought one treat for my dogs friend, which is approximately a yr old. She got down and tried to give the dog a treat, which he wouldn't take. My dog which is almost five mths old was not even acknowledged, which is ok but I felt like she should have offered him a treat at least. I work at an animal hospital and there is no way I would acknowledge one pet and not the other in a two pet situation. Every owner thinks their pet is the only one the matters. This employe needs to realize that. This is possibly my last visit to PetCo. My dog matters too. read more

I had my goldendoodle groomed here. The groomer was very friendly seemed to enjoy her dog. However, when I picked up my goldendoodle she looked more like a poodle. I also told her that I didn't want her cut down and I MADE SURE SHE WAS BRUSHED she still cut her down. The hair was also very uneven. I gave them a go it didn't work out for us, but goldendoodles are a tough client especially the ones like mine that have very tight curls. They need more groomers on staff. read more

The store itself is very clean and well-organized. I love the options they have for dog toys and their seasonal items are always adorable. I also love that they have frozen treats for dogs!! The reason I am leaving a 2-star review is not because of the retail part of the store, it is because of the dog training. I purchased a dog training package about a month ago for 2 6-week sessions for my 10-month-old chihuahua puppy. I was very excited about being able to build a stronger bond with my puppy though training. The first lesson went well, and the trainer taught me two commands to work on with my dog. The dog trainer also mentioned that I should be taking my dog on a mile and a half walk, working on commands, and playing with my dog for about an hour per day. (In total, all of this would probably take about 2-3 hours.) At first, I thought I would be able to manage those tasks, but I was unable to. Before the next session, I took my dog to daycare before I went to dog training because I knew I was going to be unable to take him for a walk before class. (I am currently in an accelerated pharmacy degree program, so I am constantly studying or in class.) When we got to class, my dog still had incredibly high energy because he was excited about being in the store. The trainer got frustrated because my dog was struggling to focus in the training pin, but he still was trying to work with my dog. He reminded me that I should be taking my dog for a walk, playing with him, and working on commands every day. I told him that due to my schedule, that was unrealistic. I told him that I would try to take my dog for a walk at least 3 times a week, but I could not guarantee it. The third session went terribly. I was able to walk my dog before class this time. He was still amped up once we got into the store because there were several other dogs walking around and he wanted to play. We started off the training session in the pin in the middle of the store. The trainer decided that he would show me how to teach my dog the 'heel' command in one of the aisles. Unfortunately, there was another dog in the aisle, so my dog was focused on the dog instead of on the trainer. The trainer tried multiple times to teach my dog the 'heel' command and to get my dog to perform the other commands he had learned during the previous training sessions to redirect his attention. The trainer eventually got frustrated because my dog was not listening to him anymore and decided to move the training back into the pin. He started talking to me about how my dog was too high energy during class because I was not giving him the exercise and attention he needed. He said that I really needed to be walking him for a mile and half every single day, playing with him, and working on commands. He talked to me about how his wife was unable to give her dog the care it needed and how she was having to consider re-homing the dog. It made me cry because I felt like a failure of a dog owner. I already felt like I was not giving him enough attention and exercise, but due to my school schedule, I am not able to offer him more time. He also made me feel like I was going to have to re-home my dog and I really did not want to. He said that due to how high energy my dog was, he thought I was wasting my money and offered to speak with the manager about getting me a refund. I ended up leaving the store that day to think about my options. I did return to get a refund and I have contacted the Kentucky Humane Society about dog training. I would not recommend Petco to anyone for dog training. I feel like the fact that there is not a separated training area sets some dogs up for failure. With the training area being in the middle of the store, it allows the dogs to hear other people, toys, and other dogs. I would not use Petco for dog training. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Don't take your dog here for grooming! We made the mistake of signing up our two Yorkshire Terrier's on the grooming club program. The first visit was okay & that is what inspired us to go ahead & sign up for this monthly service club. The next two times we took the boys it was a nightmare. The 8 month old puppy they keep cutting him way too short & the cut is choppy & uneven. The manager of the grooming station is rude & unfriendly. She keeps blaming the puppy for the bad cut & today wanted us to sedate him before bringing him back for grooming. Both of our dogs are outgoing & friendly and the 8 month old is very energetic...but if you know how to handle dogs you don't need to sedate them before grooming. Each time we've picked up the dogs they start blaming the bad cut on the 8 month old. Every time we go to pay they claim they can't find our membership number but they automatically bill is every month. Today the manager shoved the 8 month old puppy over the counter at us & almost dropped him on the floor. I managed to grab him so he didn't crash on the floor. We won't go back & we will be calling their corporate office to see if we can cancel the plan. I got a very strong impression that the grooming manager doesn't even really like dogs. The only reason we are giving this location two stars is because the customer service area up front is very helpful and pleasant...it's the grooming area & the manager of the pet grooming department that leave a lot to be desired. We even got the impression from the store manager & the cashier up front that there have been numerous complaints about the manager of the pet grooming department. read more
