I see Nurse Pace at this location. Shes a very thorough practitioner who listens and addresses all…read moremy questions. Shes very patient and easy to get along with. I like that shes not super judgemental like some doctors can be and she treats me like she genuinely cares. I've been seeing her for a couple of years and i like her. The office staff is friendly and the office is clean. I highly recommend her if your looking for an endocrinologist. They're located on Volvo Pkwy in bldg 713 on the 1st floor. There's plenty of parking out front. They also have an urgent care right next door if you need to be seen right away. Its part of Bayview so your doctor can see their notes also. Which i like. This office has endocrinology and internal medicine doctors. They're in a central location. Check them out.

I have been going here for the last few years and I'm seen about every 3-4 months. Love Dr…read more Castillo who is both caring and demonstrates empathy for my struggle with Type 1 diabetes. However, the other providers (other Endo, NP, and Diabetes Nurse educator) are less empathetic/sympathetic and our conversations have brought me to tears on multiple occasions. Diabetes in and of itself is hard enough without feeling severely judged by those who are in place to take care of you. However, I'm appreciative of all Dr. Castillo has done for me and the kindness she has shown. She is definitely an asset to this practice. It is difficult to get an appointment quickly, however, that has been my experience at all endocrinology practices around Hampton Roads. The front office staff is friendly and accommodating, and typically I don't have to wait any more than 15-20 minutes even when they are busy. (I've waited over 1 hour when I was being treated at EVMS...) I would definitely recommend this practice, and Dr. Castillo in particular!

STAY CLEAR OF LAROCQUE! Dr. Larocque is a terrible doctor…read moreand man. This man should be disbarred ASAP! Read all below, you'll be glad you did. I'm a Purple Heart recipient (combat wounded) from a Traumatic Brain Injury in Iraq, and was medically retired with a 100% total disability rating for amongst other things; severe hypopituitarism, causing the need to be treated for hypothyroidism, hypoadrenalism, and hypogonadism. I also have a pituitary adenoma (tumor) causing hyperprolactinoma which I also need treatment for. Dr. Larocque's "bedside manners" were atrocious! He would scream/yell within a foot in front of my face if I simply asked for reasoning of his treatment plan. Innocently, I wanted to just understand what the plan was, and he took this questioning as if someone with "Little Man Syndrome" would. He then proceeded to intensely berate me as I sat there stunned, call me names, saying emasculating things to me, say how he dislikes all military and that we are all "roid ragers" (even though during that appointment I asked to be taken DOWN on my testosterone medication, and I even was still showing hypo lab levels)... There was also an appointment where I was midsentence in our initial greeting and asking me of "how I was doing" to get a recap since the previous appointment, and in my midsentence after about two minutes into the appointment he walked out of the exam room, AND NEVER RETURNED! I had to go out of the room after 10min of waiting to see if he would return, and the front desk had to tell me that he was taking a "business" call, and that he wasn't going to return to my appointment. I was left dumbfounded; like "did that really just happen?" Also, the 5months or so I had tried to receive treatment from him, his doctoral plans made me WORSE/more hypo on all Hypothalamus/Pituitary Axis hormone systems. I was feeling more and more ill.

On my 3rd or 4th visit to Dr. Larocque's office in Chesapeake he asked how was I doing and I told him I was having some issues with anxiety he asked what did I have to be anxious about with a smirk red flag number one at that time I noticed that my nurse had lost weight and was looking great and I commented on that he asked me to sit on the examination table I did before he began to examine me he decided to chimed in on the conversation I was having about her weight loss and how great she looked and I asked her to share with me some of the things she was doing in hopes of helping me with my weight lost and he interrupted her response and told me that if I wanted to lose weight all I had to do was go out in a cotton field pick cotton all day and at night eat pork rinds and corn meal and I would lose weight I am a African American Women I was speechless! I'm writing this review in hopes that anyone of color will think twice about letting this man care for you.

All Gilman focused on was diabetes (my blood sugar levels have always been more than acceptable and I do not have diabetes) while my thyroid function continued to decline in her care as she raised my medication but failed to switch it to any *ANY* other brand or even the brand name instead of generic. In the 6 months I went there my health worsened. My vision has deteriorated, my memory is shot (cannot remember what was for lunch yesterday or even dinner), my weight increased 50lbs with a 1200/cal diet low on carbohydrates. I have cried in their office begging them to try alternate methods or to please try different tests, different doctors but they instead accused me of lying about taking my medications. I was seen by all 3 doctors in the practices and all 3 shamed me, disregarded my concerns, and called me a liar within the practice. The wait time was about 20 minutes in the waiting room past my appointment and up to 30 minutes when I was put into a room. I often had to walk up to the front desk and ask when I would be seen because I had been closed in an exam room. If I would have known 6 months of my life and health would be wasted going to this clinic I would have never went. Gilman made me feel she was on my team when I first came to her and that she was determined to help me get better but it quickly faded when my labs didn't turn in her favor. I came in with high hopes and a PA who said she would help me get well again for my young son but it turned into a very expensive nightmare.

Dr.Joshi with Coastal Endocrinology is so wonderful and knowledgeable. She manages the condition…read morethat caused my recent horrific hospital stay. After I signed myself out of the hospital I immediately reached out to her through their new portal & messages left at her Town Center office. There was no response, which was very odd. Normally she answers immediately. When my friend had an appointment with her she told her of my dilemma. That day I received a call setting up a Telehealth visit for yesterday. There were answers. The new portal sends all messages to a central person at TPMG rather than directly to the provider. The practice's personnel had been working to try to learn & adjust to the new system. She apologized profusely. I'm not sure the TPMG medical group's new system is as effective in reaching the provider as the last. It was calming & reassuring after the hospital experience to get answers & medication adjustments from Dr Joshi. She returned one medication doubled by the hospital to her original doseage. An explanation was given to me about why the hospital said to greatly increase my protein from foods. Even better she gave me a standing order for regular bloodwork so this type of emergency wouldn't happen again. I'm certainly happy to have been referred to Dr Joshi after all my other specialists had given up on solving this chronic problem. Just please no more being forced to go to the ER!!!!

It's usually caused by a kidney disorder but in my case the cause is vitamin D and or Calcium. Blood work is done every 3 months or so to monitor my PTH, Vitamin D and Calcium. Most of my visits with Dr. Joshi are Virtual because we just go over the current bloodwork and see where my numbers are and adjust meds accordingly. Dr. Joshi is very knowledgeable and takes time to answer any questions you have. The office staff and Nurses are all very nice. The few times I have been in the office, it was clean, bright and spacious
