Great ring but wouldn't trust this company with an empty shoebox let alone important jewelry. Very poor communication and organization. Firstly, getting the ring ordered took a very long time because they their response times are very delayed and when I asked to speak with them on the phone, they said that they couldn't do that for another 4-5 days. In order to surprise my now fiancé, I made the very simple request to have the ring be switched from shipping to pick up they told me no problem. A week later me AND my fiancé get an email with the shipping notification that it will be there the next day. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but the surprise was now ruined. I called Melanie Casey and they had lost the ring and had no idea where it was and they thought they'd stopped it from being shipped but now couldn't locate it. Luckily the next day it was delivered. Melanie Casey called me three days later saying they still hadn't located the ring and were going to have to file an insurance claim. They didn't even know that the ring had gone out for shipping! Again, we are incredibly happy with the ring, but communicating with this business was not worth the hassle and they nearly lost our engagement ring. The stress behind working with them is not worth it, go some where else where you can get a great ring and it be a stress free experience. read more

After purchasing 3 rings in less than a month, the customer service was good until the last ring. Each previous ring came in a nice ring box without me asking. The last ring came in a cardboard box. After asking why I didn't get the felt ring box as before, they stated I didn't check the box or pay the $35. After letting them know I didn't do that on the previous rings they stated there is nothing they could do. Very poor customer service for someone who paid a lot of money on rings. I let them know I will have to find another designer. The customer service person was fine with that. I'm sure the owner would re-train or fire the customer service person. As President of a manufacturing company, losing a client over $35 when the mistake was ours would not fly. Too Bad and be careful. read more

I think it would be a challenge for anyone to find a jeweler that knows more about diamonds than Melanie. The ring I picked for my fiancee came with a GIA report and a laser inscription on the diamond. She spent many email exchanges with me going over the options for a certain ring. Not even getting into how beautifully the settings are done and the care given to the selection of stones and matching them with her designs. As for cost, considering the quality of the ring and the diamond and that each one is unique, I think that the prices are more than fair. Not to digress but anyone complaining about price in my opinion is just completely uneducated about diamonds (good luck getting a D color VS1 stone at Zales, tempted to use the pearls before a certain farm animal here...) Melanie resized the ring and had it to me in just under a week (during the holidays I might add). Looking forward to choosing a wedding band from Melanie in the near future, feel very lucky to have found her! read more

I received my Melanie Casey ring as a gift. The ring itself is stunning--even prettier than pictured online. The aquamarine stone is a deep blue, and sparkles like crazy. I have gotten so many compliments! -1 star because the prices are high. I understand the rings are handmade, but a similar ring elsewhere would probably cost less. That said, the ring is great quality. Other small things I didn't love: While we had no problems with getting the ring, it took a couple weeks (~2.5) after ordering for it to get to us. We weren't updated on when to expect it until right when it shipped. This made it difficult to plan because someone had to be there to sign for the package! Another thing to consider. Dealing with a jeweler located far away can be difficult. If you need to get your ring resized, you have to pay to mail it back to them. For us, that would have been $30 each way, even though the sizing itself was free. For our engagement ring, we'll probably stick with a local jeweler, so communication/repairs/resizing is easier. read more

Buyer beware if you're looking at Melanie Casey's stacking rings as a gift you'd like to add to over time. My family started a stacking ring set for my mother in 2015. In 2018, when we were ready to add to her set with the birth of a new grandchild, we were surprised the style of rings we'd purchased had been discontinued! It took a little pleading, but Melanie Casey agreed to make another ring for us in the same style so everything would match. Cut to 2020: it's our mother's 75th birthday and we reach out to have one final ring made for the last grandchild born (2019). After multiple emails back and forth and a phone call to the shop explaining how meaningful it would be to finish her set, we were told: "Unfortunately, we do not have any castings remaining for the previous birthstone stacking ring and this was actually hand fabricated and we no longer have the mold needed. I am so sorry we were not able to accommodate this request!" I wouldn't be writing this review, though, if it weren't for how the rings were marketed in 2015, and how the newer version is being marketed now: ""These rings are made to be stacked. Add one for each child, grandchild, or member of your friend group...They are also meant to be gifted: the perfect mother's ring!" Why would castings be thrown away for rings marketed as a gift you can add to over time??? So disappointed. read more

I bought the oval snowdrift ring and had a mixed experience using Melanie Casey. Pros: love the product and it arrived two weeks ahead of advertised schedule! Cons: company was actually very inflexible and difficult to work with. First of all, they have costume jewelry replicas of all of their products which you can order to try on and see what you like best. When purchasing my ring I asked if it was possible for them to make a second replica of the exact ring I bought (which I would pay for) so my girlfriend could wear it in places where she might not be comfortable with wearing the real thing. I was simply told 'no' with no further discussion. Secondly, after spending a lot of time picking out the perfect diamond I added the ring to my cart and clicked check out. When I did so, the diamond price increased by 60%! I called Melanie Casey and was told they had found a website error which was also causing a lot of inventory to be missing. I loved my ring, it was beautiful and I wish I could have worn it forever... However there were a number of quality issues which has resulted in it no longer being in my possession. I don't normally write negative reviews but given the circumstances and, after reading another similar story I thought it was a good idea to share my experience. I received a Melanie Casey Diamond Perspective band for my engagement ring in February 2019. By October one of claws on the smallest diamond snapped off. I returned the ring for repair shortly after, I was told they would fix the ring and return it to me. I received the ring back in Late January, wore it for two weeks and the same thing happened again but this time I lost a diamond. I sent the ring back again and was told they would reset the ring for me. I then proceeded to wear my ring for under 12 months but unfortunately the gold band snapped. I was then told I could get a refund on the faulty ring (but it was lost by Australia Post) so I am left with no ring and no refund. I would be very cautious about purchasing a forever ring from here if you were planning to wear it everyday. I don't sleep, shower, do dishes, garden or in my rings etc, and it still broke on a number of occasions. Please also note that everyone I dealt with at MC was lovely, I am just really upset that I chose to purchase my ring here. read more

My partner proposed with a Melanie Casey ring on Christmas 2020. Less than 7 days after his proposal, one of the ring's prongs sheared off and a stone fell out. We called Melanie Casey about the problem and sent the ring in for inspection and repairs. We found out that there was a quality issue that was not found during inspection, and Melanie Casey made a new casting. I received my ring back in early February. After 4 months of normal (almost daily) wear, my ring's prongs started lifting up and catching on everything! By this point, I became suspect of the quality of the craftmanship and took it to a trusted local jeweler for another opinion. I'm sad to say their recommendation is to remake the ring. Despite the delicacy of the setting, the setting is too big for the stones and this will continue to be a problem if not remade. Under the microscope the jeweler noticed that the ring's porosity is higher than expected and makes us suspect the quality of the entire piece beyond just the setting. I would not recommend Melanie Casey and we will not be purchasing our wedding bands from them. Truly unfortunate to spend 2+ of the first 6 months of my engagement without my ring thanks to Melanie Casey. read more

If you would like a wedding ring that endures, my advice isn't to purchase one of Melanie Casey's pieces. I was sold a defective ring, and one of the diamond studs fell out after a few months. It was repaired and the same issue transpired again. I was eventually sent a replacement with shoddy workmanship and a diamond stud that's barely discernible. This saddens me because it has the potential to be a beautiful piece, however not only is my original wedding ring no more but its replacement is a disappointment. Until these fundamental issues can be rectified, I can't with good conscious recommend this brand. Ultimately there's a risk that all you're getting is a pretty piece of jewelry that will not stand the test of time. read more

I found a ring that I thought loved at MC, but working with the designer was a total nightmare. To start with, her re-stocking fee is outrageous, and I suffered broken appointments, missed delivery deadlines, and finally the wrong product was sent! The designer and her staff always countered these incidents with some disingenuous excuse, rather than offering sincere resolution. Finally, I've decided to give my business to someone else rather than finish the piece with MC, partly because after so many repeated disappointments and misrepresentations, the ring I had originally loved started to look heavy and vulgar to me. I got engaged 8/31. The ring is beautiful, and I'm definitely happy with it. I cannot comment on the durability of it yet because it is so new but I do have some concerns with their customer service. I sent my ring to be resized 8/4. It got to them 8/9. Now they clearly say that the timeline of ring resize is 4wks. Really long but okay. So this week makes 4wks, I'm excited expecting to see something about my ring being shipped. Nothing. I call multiple times but no one is ever available to take my call. I reach out online and they are responsive but they then till me oh it could be another 2 weeks! I have engagement photos planned and NO ONE ever updated me to tell me it was going to be delayed. I had to reach out to them to get answers and now I might lose money for this. I'm thankful for the limited lifetime warranty bc being that the jewelry is delicate I'm sure it will come in handy, but I'm very concerned about how reliable they are in terms of getting things done in a timely manner. Resizing at most jewelers would take maybe 2 weeks if they are backed up but MC is taking 4 and that's not even guaranteed. I'm really frustrated by all this. The customer service lady was really nice and when I asked if she could try to rush it she said she would check. So we'll see what happens there.
