We had been to a lot of weddings. We'd seen photographers stand in the aisle, make family members…read morewait for hours to take one or two group shots, and interrupt the party. We'd seen photos come out grainy, low-contrast and with hideous logos and watermarks stamped over top. So when we started looking for our wedding photographer, we knew what we didn't want. It seemed like an impossible task to find the right person... but, as it turns out, Justine was the first vendor we booked. While we were impressed with her portfolio, it was Justine's desire to actually get to know us as a couple (beyond wedding details) that sealed the deal. We talked about her process and pricing, but also our shared love of food and exploring. It made the entire process so much more personal and enjoyable, and I honestly believe the photos were better because of it. Justine worked with us to get everything we wanted (including engagement photos and a second shooter) within a reasonable budget. I was nervous about "posing" for our engagement photo session at the Bronx Zoo, but she made sure the day was comfortable, low key and laid-back. She gave us enough direction to not feel awkward, but not so much that we looked posed. Justine was organized and responsive throughout the planning process and made sure we were on the same page with our shot list and timeline. She was also sensitive to our family dynamics and religious rituals, which was greatly appreciated. By our wedding day, Justine felt like an old friend. She was a calming, unobtrusive presence on an otherwise overwhelming and emotional day. She had the patience of a saint during group photos with our extremely large, loud, distracted families. She managed to get so many great candid shots during the ceremony and dinner without our guests even noticing! During the party, Justine was on the edge of the dance floor with her camera, getting great shots but also genuinely enjoying and capturing the vibe of the party -- which we (and our friends) loved. Justine had photographed several weddings at our outdoor farm venue before (which was actually how we found her!), but she managed to infuse our photos with a unique flavor that really reflected the feeling of our day. We are over the moon with how they turned out!! On Justine's next trip to NYC a few months after our wedding, we grabbed dinner together. She clearly cares deeply about her clients and her work, and we are so glad we chose her.

I was super nervous about taking headshot pictures for residency applications, but Keegan Lawless did calm me down. He made feel super comfortable and made sure I knew he could take great pictures and catered to me in a lot of ways. He let me change outfits and jewelry and fix my make up as much as I wanted, he made sure to understand what I wanted from these pictures and assured me he could edit them to my desires also. He said he was a photoshop wizard and it took a week to get the preliminary untouched versions (which were great). And then he did everything he possibly could to make sure he knew what I wanted and execute it, he redid my Photoshopping at no extra charge because I was disappointed in the first set, which was possibly due to poor communication on my part. He was so nice, understanding and congenial from beginning to end. I would highly recommend him for his photography skills and professionalism, he will do his best to make sure you are satisfied.

Keegan is so professional and has a way of putting you at ease, which is a real talent. Our daughter got married in Chicago and we live in Florida so it was very complicated to find somebody that we would like. We couldn't really rely on recommendations because we didn't know anybody there. Also to be perfectly honest we didn't want to spend more than $3000 on the photography. Being that the wedding was in downtown Chicago, everybody that I talk to before finding Robert was very stuck up and very very pricey. When I looked at Roberts work on his website I was absolutely amazed by the pictures that he would take. They were not traditional wedding pictures where you have everybody just lined up, they were pictures of the moments, pictures of the things that were actually happening. Just by looking at those pictures you could imagine what was going on at those weddings. His photographs tell a story and capture the most natural shots possible. For us, this was very important. Robert was very courteous and was able to cover the day without being obtrusive while at the same time being in the right place at the right time. We had many compliments about him from our guests. When I was hiring Robert I wanted to hire two photographers for my daughter's wedding every single moment would be captured. He tried to assured me that I would not need two photographers because of the size of her wedding. We had 80 people. I was still skeptical but he did say that he would have his assistant with him so I decide to go I and just hire him. Well, he was right! He was able to cover everything! Bride's preparations, groom's preparation, me being stressed out :), maid of honor helping, bride drinking a glass of champagne.... Everything that you want to remember from your wedding. All the candid shots, people dancing, drinking, eating... Everything! Most importantly my daughter is little shy and does not like taking pictures, so the way that Robert did this was just amazing. She made the family and bridal party genuinely smile and/or laugh over and over again. My daughter, the bride, was so grateful that Tammy made five hours of posing so fun rather than stressful. Just about a week after the wedding, Tammy posted over a 100 beautiful photos for us to view and download. It was great to have these professional photos so quickly to show to people. Then about six weeks later, we received over 1500 photos! The posed photos were all beautiful, including some that were very artsy and cool, and others that were cleverly whimsical. The photos from the ceremony and reception were amazing and totally captured the beauty, joy, and fun of the day. I love that the candid photos of the bride and groom show them laughing and loving every minute of their wedding day, the ceremony photos show the beauty of the event, and the reception photos feature all the guests have a great time! The only downside is that it is going to be very difficult to choose which photos to include in the album - there are just too many great ones! Although I am writing this review before we ordered our album, I've seen other albums that Tammy has created and they are creative and gorgeous. A friend had a great time working with Tammy and her partner and their photos came out great. This couple, however, is BEYOND photogenic and I would have taken great shots of them with a disposable. I should have realized that when we originally hired Tammy. She was NOT CHEAP. We did hire her, thinking we knew what we'd get (and the whole mentality of "you get what you pay for"). She is incredibly nice, optimistic and out right excited for the couples she shoots. We did an engagement shoot with her and after 40 minutes of "that's GREAT" and "these are INCREDIBLE photos" we were really happy......then we saw the photos. Completely generic, cookie-cutter shots. The angles were not flattering and the lighting was off. I'm not an expert photographer so take the review as you will. There was WAY TOO MUCH posing. It felt unnatural but she kept encouraging us that they looked good so I didn't question much. Anyway, we expressed concern about the angles and we were willing to work with her since she seemed like she was willing to work with us. She instead decided she didn't want to work with us and offered to refund our deposit. Less than 2.5 months before the wedding and we were left with no photographer. We finally got our deposit back after many many attempts (I would drop the review another star or even negative stars for this whole ordeal but it is irrelevant to the actual photography). We did find A FANTASTIC photographer thanks to a coworkers recommendation at a third of Tammy's cost and the photos came out MUCH BETTER. So I guess her backing out was a blessing in disguise.
