I eat here way too much! I can't find a bad meal here lol! Everything is excellent!

I'm from the Chicago area and I can't believe there is a Thai place this good in Springfield. So far I have tried Curry fried rice, Mekong beef, pad Thai, and Crab ragoon. Prices are good considering what you get. It seems like they do a lot of take-out business but I have always dined in. Good service and great food. Worth the drive even if you are staying on the other side of town. read more

Great service every time we go and the Pho is the best we have found in Springfield. We moved here from the SF Bay area and the fact that we have had a very hard time finding comparable Dim Sum, Vietnamese, Sushi, etc here in Springfield has been a huge issue. The Mekong Cafe has been the one bright spot so far. We're still looking though! read more

Best Food in town! We eat here at least 2-3 times a month (probably more!). I stick to the traditional chicken fried rice or lo mien noodles, but he switches it up each time. Neither of us have ever had a bad meal! I wouldn't say it is a complaint, but when going for lunch during the week days, make sure you allow yourself enough time. THIS PLACE IS ALWAYS PACKED! I would say that's an indication of just how good their food is! Owners are super nice and always around for questions and just to talk. Love that it is a Local Business too! read more

Best Pad Thai in Springfield, for certain. About the best Pad Thai I've had anywhere, really. And it's an ideal place for takeout because you get huge amounts of great food...enough to last all weekend. Parking can be tough, though, so try to avoid the most popular meal times. read more

I eat there regularly. I could make a meal out of the Thai eggroll appetizers I love them so much. Ginger shrimp, three flavor fish and red curry (with coconut milk) shrimp are my three favorite dishes on the menu. Remember though, hot means hot when ordering! Just called and was refused service! Listing says closes at 9:30, well I guess the manager decided she wanted to close at 9 tonight. I called at 8:40 and tried to place a to-go order. She told me if I couldn't be there in 10 minutes that she wouldn't take my order, again knowing its at least 20 till 9 and 50 minuets to the listed closing time. This is why small businesses do not make it. You can not just adjust closing times to your schedule. Also, what business turns away a customer within open hours?! I am appalled at their poor business practices and I would never recommend eating here read more

This place may look iffy but don't judge a book by it's cover, because it is very fast, affordable, big-portioned, and delicious. An absolute hole-in-the-wall delight!I am absolutely in LOVE with this place! I live a few blocks away from it and eat there at least once a week with friends or family. Everyone I know loves the food as well, especially for the price. I always get their Thai Crab Rangoon and either the Pad Thai or the noodle salad with peanut sauce. What can I say? This is by far the best resturant of its type in Springfield. Go for the soups, and try something off the beaten path. The Vietnamese dishes are their specialties, but the Thai and Laotion dishes are very good as well. If you are looking for east-asian cuisine, and want a lot of options, look no further. read more

As a physician who frequents Asian restaurants, I came here based on the Yelp rating. The food tasted okay, but was far from traditional Vietnamese. I had the fried Thai egg rolls and the pork Pad Thai. At 2 AM I awoke with stomach pain and shortly thereafter emptied my stomach into the toilet. I had no other symptoms of illness either before or after this event. It was clearly a case of food poisoning, and I reported it to the Health Department. I assume it was from the pork Pad Thai. If you check the County Health Dept website, this restaurant has had a number of safety violations in the last two years. I would avoid this establishment. read more

Simply amazing. Went there with my girlfriend a week ago. The food blew me away. We ordered the basil chicken and three flavor fish. Dinners are about 8 bucks each. The atmosphere is kinda hole in the wallish but very clean and comfortable. The servers are always friendly. ALL MENU ITEMS LESS THAN 9 DOLLARS. Try it, you will be happy. This place is awful and every rating site online gives it max stars which leads to think the owners of this place are leaving the reviews. Let me tell you how this place really is. It's nasty, its dirty, its overpriced, and I simply hate it. In all my travels including to Vietnam which is the food they claim to make i have never had such a terrible version of the dish I have come to love called Pho. I have had instant pho noodles that better represented this dish. This place was also dirty with unclean tables and they brought me an egg roll still frozen. The prices I also found to be too high. I conclude by saying do not go here it is a true waste of time and money. read more

My husband and I live in Springfield and were looking for new places to try eating. I read some reviews that said Mekong was a great place. First of all, the lot behind the building is very small and the cafe itself is on the small side (yet cozy). It is very humble, but clean and roomy enough. Right after we ordered, the waitress brought out a complimentary soup that was a very thin broth, but very good. We ordered the Thai eggrolls (5 small rolls come in an order). These were very light and crispy on the outside and full of flavor on the inside. My husband does not tend to eat slowly but he told me he was "savoring every bite"! I ordered the Pad Se Eiuy with chicken. The noodles were done perfectly and the chicken tasted fire-roasted and tender! I have had trouble with other Thai restaurants giving me a mild dish but full flavor, I was so pleasantly surprised by Mekong's ability to give wonderful, complex flavors without all of the heat! My husband ordered Basil Pork which is his usual order at other restaurants. He likes his food with a good amount of heat and the "medium" was just right for him. He says "Hands down this is the best Basil Pork in town". Thank you Mekong! We took a take-out menu on our way out and we will definitely be back soon!! read more

We've been going to this place since we've been in Springfield but never again. Today I witnessed the staff (2 female employees) treat a young african american woman so disrespectful and extremely rude. Apparently the young lady found a piece of wire in her fried rice. The female employee was not only rude on the phone to this lady prior to the young lady returning to the restaurant with the food and continued to be rude and disrespectful after. I witnessed the female employees call the young lady out of her name several times all because they made a mistake on her order then had an unidentifiable object in her food that they tried to explain came off of something that they used to clean with and this was the way they treated a regular paying customer. So unprofessional and I will be passing this on to my fellow co-workers that frequent this place because I cannot support an establishment that treats their customers this way! read more
