Ceviche

We came here on a Thursday night @ 5pm and by 6pm the place was packed. A lovely big restaurant with a bar at the front (which is a bit awkward to try and push past everyone to get to your table). Friendly, helpful staff which is always a good start. The menu is large so we went with the "feed me" selection. All you need to do is sit back and let the chef feed you. As the other reviewers have stated the corn is a highlight and the pulled pork tacos, the sangria wasn't bad either. Loved the Mexican tapas style food and will be back.

Have been here twice and have absolutely loved my experience both times. Straight through the wide and inviting doors, you're greeted with the modern, trendy and fresh vibe of the restaurant. Decor is a huge plus, with oversized exotic black lamps hanging overhead and rustic brick walls. Highly recommend: - The guacamole. It's made fresh in front of you and served with thinly sliced banana chips. - Corn cobs with popcorn and a really unique corn and popcorn hot salsa. It's like a party in your mouth. - The drinks! The cocktails are sweet and fruity but very alcoholic at the same time. They also serve more than a hundred types of tequila. There is a wooden spinner on the table where you spin 3 times to create your perfect tequila with 3 elements (an element is chosen with each spin). All the other food tasted good as well. The chorizo and black eye pea with corn chips dish came with around 6 corn chips - could have done with triple the amount. A really enjoyable experience but remember to book well in advance! It's crowded even on a Monday.

The service at this place was top notch - the waiters were very friendly and helpful. To our surprise, the tequilas we ordered came with the traditional sangrita - a combination of tomato and hanabero chillies which nicely complemented the acerbic tanginess of the liquor. To our surprise, they actually made guacamole at the dinner table, which allowed us to see the fresh ingredients they used - including a perfectly ripe avocado. The guacamole was delicious and so were the plantain chips.

I definitely enjoyed my evening at Mejico. it's a big, crowded and fairly noisy place, but the atmosphere is relaxed and we had a lovely waitress who was friendly and took good care of us. The food was yum, i wouldn't call it delicate or refined, but it's tasty and festive. Actually the biggest problem we had was that we ordered a lot of bit a pieces before our mains, and were full before they arrived. I strongly recommend the corn lollipops which are yummy and original, love that sauce they put on it. The chicken tacos were unanimously the best tacos on the menu (we tried them all). i had the lamb adobo for mains, it was nicely cooked and generous in portion. other people ordered the achiote chicken and the yucatan fish and everyone was happy about their dish. The flourless chocolate cake for desert was fantastic, nice and melty in the middle. All up, it was a nice festive dinner, with good, unpretentious food. The place is good for groups (definitely more than for dates). If you are looking for refined and elegant dishes: keep looking, but for a friends night out it's a great place.

I was pleasantly surprised at what a great job they did with Mexican food at this downtown Sydney eatery. Very friendly staff, a substantial bar area, and yummy cocktails round out this dining experience in a superb way. Try the watermelon salad, and ANY of the tacos. You won't be disappointed!

Guess what this is. It's a tamale. No, really!

If you're looking for a quiet little romantic place, this is not it. Lots of hard surfaces create a very noisy atmosphere. But, if you're looking for a new age take on Mexican food, you're in for some very interesting dishes. We ordered the salmon tacos, tamales, blackened chicken, and watermelon salad. The salmon tacos were delicious, but points off for cold flour tortillas instead of fresh hot corn. (No choice was offered). The tamales were unrecognizable by Mexican standards, but still very tasty. The blackened chicken was good but it would've been nice if some tortillas would have been offered which is customary in most Mexican restaurants. The watermelon salad was a taste sensation, even though it had a bit too much cilantro for my taste. My wife absolutely loved it. The plantain chips were very good and the guacamole was some of the best we've had. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. She even came to apologize that the food was not timed appropriately and offered us dessert as compensation. We had the churro's and were not disappointed. Definitely something everyone should try to top off a fantastic meal. Sad to say will be flying back to Texas tomorrow so it will be sometime before we can enjoy a meal here once more.

Really nice (upmarket) Mexican restaurant. Good food, but small portions (for the price). Hand made (at the table) guacamole is really nice with plantain chips. Scallop ceviche was very small. Pork belly taco was really nice. Corn was too expensive for 3 small cobs. Haloumi was $15 for 3 small slices. Food was good, but was expensive.

The best tasting cauliflower taco, mushroom ceviche, smashed potatoes and margaritas. What a treat!

The service was okay, and the ambiance felt forced. The $10 house margaritas were fair. If you're new to the area & sitting in the bar area, you need to order food with your drink due to regulations.

They did seat us under a staircase and it was annoying hearing the heavy footsteps stomping up and down throughout dinner service. The food was very good to stellar! As others have mentioned, the Tacos are King here. Tartare Tacos are amazing, and we loved the Salmon Civiche and the carnitas tacos, as well. Flathead Civiche was delicious, Brussels Sprouts were super tasty, and we also enjoyed the twice cooked Pork Belly. Not so good was the Pato Ahumado. The mole was really tasty but not enough, and the breast was really tough and fatty, plus no proper cutlery provided. Really disappointing, as we couldn't eat or enjoy it and it was like we just threw $72 away. While I did appreciate their coursing, we did wait for long periods between. Cocktails were good, as was a glass of wine, but pours are very light. Recommended, for sure. Avoid the duck.

Good Mexican is always hard to find and this spot is well hidden on level 6 of Westfield building…read more This level reminded me of an airport terminal. We started with corn chips with a bean dip. The corn chips were clearly fresh and that made a big difference. Really yum and the dip was perfect to match. Next up was grilled corn with a creamy butter coriander sauce. This was nothing special. Was more looking for something a little bit spicer considering its a Mexican. The ancient grain salad was served. This salad contained quinoa, broccoli, pumpkin, chia and pomegranate seeds with a tequila sauce. This was a great choice on the menu and definitely would choose this one again. For the mains we selected Beef enchiladas and Cod. The beef enchiladas was pretty good but not exceptional and was a little light in the meat department. The cod was not what you would traditionally expect from a Mexican so figured it was a good choice to go with. It turned out to be a stellar one. The cod was beautiful and had a nice smoky sauce to go with it. Amazingly there was room for dessert and decided to opt for the Chilli Brownie. The brownie was made with dark chocolate and didn't have that overly heavy after feeling that you get from some desserts. Just didn't really notice the chilli in it though but still nice. The experience was really good in this place. The atmosphere was very relaxed and would certainly come back again.

Crab croquette were good and well worth the price ($20 for 4). Wasn't a huge fan of the oysters, and the chicken wings were good but not as good as the tacos and croquettes. We tried the corn semolina for dessert and I think I was craving something sweet and this wasn't! Otherwise we really enjoyed our meal and we'll be back for sure with friends.

I really wanted Horchata, but they were out of it. Since I was quite hungry, I ordered Tempura Barramundi (fish) Tacos and Smoked Brisket Burger. The Tacos were delicious! The Tempura Barramundi were delightfully crunchy, perfectly tender and flaky, and well seasoned. The jalapeño crema, cabbage, onion, and coriander were nice additions and worked well together. Smoked Brisket Burger was also very enjoyable, consisting of sliced wagyu brisket, salsa verde, avocado crema, lettuce, pickled jalapeño, as well as queso on a potato bun. This was served with shoestring fries. That Wagyu brisket was rich, robust in beef flavor with creamy texture, tender, and juicy. The fries were also tasty, perfectly crispy and addicting. Service was okay. We had to order at the bar, were given a number to place at our table, then were served at the table.
