I really like Meijer, especially since they' don't have any stores where I reside. It's another alternative to Walmart. They. sell good merchandise at reasonable prices. It's a huge store and they sell produce, meats, electronics, clothing, etc. They even have a deli, which is right up my alley. I love buying food that's ready to eat, lol. The food in the deli looked appetizing. The produce and meat items were fresh. They were selling apples for $1.79 a pound. They had a whole Detroit Lions display located by the entrance. So, I go to this store a lot and it is usually fine. Tonight, because I didn't have heavy items, I put my cart back before I left the store. I did this in front of two store workers, who were having a conversation. When I went to leave the one said, "Have a nice night. Oh, can I see your receipt because you came from that other way." I said, "I just walked past you. I put my cart back." She had not seen me. I didn't have my receipt ready and couldn't find it. I wasn't sure which bag it was in or if it was in my purse. A lady who had helped me in the self-check-out vouched for me. But this was really upsetting to me anyway. I was in westland Meijer friday 2/21/25 early afternoon and tripped on the wire basket that they put the small hand held baskets in,it was empty and very hard to even see when empty, I fell to the floor, hurt my lt side ribs and everything else a handful of employees came to me and stood over me but it was only another lady customer that actually tired to help me up and was concerned..... offering me to sit and relax and got me a cart to hang onto once I was up. Never once did any of the employees try to help me, pretty sad, I think it was Stephine that took my info and said they'd be calling me to see how I am.....well it's Monday the 24th and I have not heard from anyone from the store. The blonde older women who manages the bottle room is extremely rude. I've had multiple run ins with her where she yells at me about returning bottles with minimal liquids in them. After about the third time she yelled at me in my face I started dumping liquids before returning the bottles, but today she went berserk. I arrived and returned one bottle with ZERO liquids in it. The machine wouldn't let me return any other bottles since the machine was full. I don't know if she just knew I was here, but she rounded the corner and super loudly kept repeating "someone must have dirty bottles." Mind you I only returned ONE. I thought she would stop repeating her chant but she continued as she went to the employee only section and when she came back with a paper towel, to dry off the machine. She was right next to me in my face going "someone must have DIRTY bottles" I watched as she wiped down the machine, and there was no liquid on the paper towel. I left shortly after, without even being able to return my bottles, because I felt so harassed and uncomfortable. I will not be returning to this location because of her. Maybe she needs to be put in a different department of Meijer, but no employee should be allowed to harass customers like this. Completed unprofessional, unnecessary and unacceptable. Wish I could give ZERO stars for this location. I've never had an issue at any other Meijer, OR bottle return room. read more

Please open any electronics before checkout. I bought iPad 9th generation and was can of tuna inside. I called apple, and they said is 3rd party responsibility, and will give them a refund on there cost. They never heard of this happening, so might be at store or carier level. I had done my grocery shopping there for many years, but this was the first time the service I received was horrible. I shopped with ease nit a problem it was when I encountered the worst retail worker cashier. Extremely unfriendly and talking with other associates with no talking to me, the customer no interaction. Then, when there was, she told me she was unable to pack my groceries. I had to do it by this time. I was angry. I packed my groceries put them in my basket proceeded out. Realized I left an item I had to go back and get it she stated I got it because she didn't have it. I went to the service area to complain about it the girl told me well I can't do nothing just go get another one. Did not offer to get it for me told me I would have to. This left such a bad taste in my mouth for many months would not go back and spend money at that location. But recently went back and the cashiers who checked me out packed my groceries was very pleasant and extremely nice. Just overall terrible service at night. I came in looking for a handful of things and got in line to checkout through self checkout since you know that's what you do when you have 4 items in your cart. Apparently though they shut off the machines at 11:30pm, or you know literally the person right in front of me so they make us all funnel through behind slow normal cashiers and people with huge carts full of stuff. So I might not be able to get anything at all depending on the speed of people I have no control over because they have a hard close on all machines at midnight. So I told the self checkout guy that's cool and threw my red basket to the floor and walked out and I'm never coming back. It's my local meijer and I've always liked Meijer but this was just the gut punch that is going to keep me from going back. They also never have their self checkout fully running, they almost always have 2 to 3 machines down out of the 6 that should be functional and their doors never work. I have been shopping here for years and I always say I'm going to switch and I think for my own sanity I have to! I know it sounds crazy that a grocery store can give you a nervous breakdown but this can! As I sit in line on Labor Day writing this review which tells you something if I can write this long review while waiting in line it's crazy! Between always being out of the items I shop for or the super long lines I don't know which is more frustrating. Why do you have 20 something cashier lines but only have 3 open on the weekend??? They have plenty of self serve but those are so touchy it takes everyone twice as long to get out They always stop in the middle of scanning for some stupid reason and it takes the cashier forever to get to you to reset it. This Meijer is well stocked. It is kept clean and generally orderly. The prices on many of the goods are a little higher than I can find at other locations. I go here generally if I am in the area and need something rather than making it my first choice. The staff here is muted. They interact sometimes but for the most part they keep to themselves. You need to seek them out if you would like assistance. They have been well trained and provide reasonable service when you get their attention. The fish area is a plus and minus for me. I like to visit the pet area and look at the fish but often the tanks are not kept at maximum quality and the water is either off, the tanks have a great deal of algae or there are problems with the fish. I do not buy aquarium fish from Meijers. Their specialty items like home goods and crafts are normally well stocked but, again, their prices tend to be a little higher than competitors in my opinion. Checking out is convenient though a little lacking the personal touch. There are two type of self-service lanes. One is for any quantity of goods and the other area is for small quantities. The machine used is unique as it is an automatic convey belt. That's great and moves things along but just keep in mind not to put the bread first because it's going to get flattened! read more

12/15/16-- Well, I'm back in Michigan for another visit due to another high school reunion I attended and again am patronizing this Meijer store. I don't think I'm in as enamoured with the clothing as I was on my last trip and I believe their prices are higher than Walmart and certainly higher than the dollar store, but it's still a good place to turn for certain items. I have found some very good deals on Ready-to-Eat Foods in their deli section. Since I am a late in the day shopper I have sometimes come in here in the evening and found those items at greatly reduced prices because they want to move out the items they can't keep for the next day. Everything I have tasted has been delicious also. It's a convenient location since I travel the route that goes past it fairly often. The worst thing about it is the thing that gets the most negative comments for all the Meijer stores I have been to, their lines are terrible, they never seem to have enough clerks available, and the lines of the self serve registers are usually pretty bad, although not always. Other than that, the times when I have needed needed a clerk to help me find something I have found them to be very accommodating. Most of them anyway. There was that one that just vaguely waved her hand off in some direction when I asked her where a certain category was, probably the yarn section. But many times they will walk me over to the area rather than just telling me where it is. Original review from 2011: Golly gee, this store's got a lot of bad reviews. I didn't think it was so bad. It had what I needed for a good price, it wasn't hard to find stuff, things were clean and organized. I mainly went in for Michigan postcards, which I had been heretofore unsuccessful at finding in a variety of stores after a week of casual looking. I also shopped in foods, packaged and fresh, and baked goods, in crafts, toiletries, found a lavender crock pot I wanted but couldn't get for $15, got some inexpensive yarn, handwarmers for my trip, an Apple, etc, spent just under $50 and left happy. I watched Chris T. have a full blowin temper tantrum, like a baby because I politely said "excuse me are you a manager, I was told to come see you". After I said that She turns and looks at me with a death stare before she throws her bag on the floor and starts to cry and stomp her feet like a 2 YEAR OLD!!!! And she's one of your managers!!!! I said never mind I will handle this another way and walked away. I don't play baby with adults, I wouldn't allow that kind of behavior from my 6 year old so I AM NOT going to let an adult act like that in front me. As I'm walking away she starts yelling at me saying "what do you want I had a bad day". Well I am here to tell you I DON'T CARE if you had a bad day that's no way to act as an adult, especially a manager of a business!!! My problem was still not settled so I will now go about it a different way now because after being treated the way I was i will NEVER step foot into ANY Meijer store again, including for our prescriptions. Staff works hard to keep things stocked and organized. I did have an issue with order pick up only having 1 of my 6 items. I was there the day before so I knew they had most of what I ordered. I went up there and found most of my stuff. I talked to John who was doing order pick up and he was amazing! Took care of me and honored the price I originally paid. 3 registers open max, everyones pissed off. It takes an hour on average to check out after getting groceries so count on all of your frozen goods to be melted, meats to be warm, dairy to be warm. Not sure what is going on at this Meijer and maybe others. Used to be our only store of choice for groceries as we believed it was cheaper than Krogers and had the same choices. But lately it is quite a challenge to shop here as cashiers are few and far between and many are very slow. We have been shopping at our local Krogers for quite some time now due to their renewed emphasis on customer appreciation. They have more cashiers and all employees are more friendly and willing to help. I may be spending a little more at Kroger but it is worth my time to do so. read more

More of the same, a standard Meijer store that you'll probably enjoy as much as the others. They build their stores really long, I've started noticing. It's quite a hike to get through the place. In this particular location, someone stole my cart that was half filled with things I was going to buy, like a Y-peeler, a lime-squeezer, cat food, a cat toy, and a down-alternative pillow. Who took my stuff, huh? Confess! Anyway, it's easy to find the carts, but I had to walk all the way back to the entrance which was really far away... maybe 80 yards or so. When I went back to the carts, i noticed they had these HALF-cart things... more perfect for me, since I wasn't getting all that much. Away I went to re-locate my commodities in this really long store. The cashier here was super friendly, fast, and helpful. She gave me a wonderful sounding crockpot recipe (even though I don't own a crockpot... I didn't tell her cuz she seemed really happy to be sharing her secret recipe with me). Then we exchanged jokes about the single guava I was buying. It really was quite funny. I wish there were less self-checkout lanes so that the store wouldn't have to hire so few amazing cashiers... sucks that the self-checkout lanes are stealing all our jobs. There's no jokes or exchanging of recipes at the self-checkout lanes. And they move slower too... people don't really understand the technology yet. read more

Hardly something breathtaking, but I'm giving this place a better review than the nearbye supercenter Walmart, so they must be doing something right. Ok, service here is...interesting. Bought a charger for my phone, and it didn't work. Now, I'm technically still a cell phone service rep, and I'd like to think I know a little bit about my phone. So I take it back in to return it...they say it must be my fault and they won't take it back or exchange (yes, I'm paraphrasing this down a bit). I try to talk to a manager, who makes me wait for 30 mins while they talk on the phone...and then tell me the same thing. So I'm out some money, and their service (as well as their fun sign outside saying how great their return policy is) is a big load. What can you do? Minus 2 stars there, but they've got a pretty good standard setup in their food areas, I'll give them that. What cost them that last star, dropping them to 2? Meat counter. I call them up the day I bought my charger, saying I needed to get XXX amount of YYY meat. I go in...they say they can't do orders, and they don't know who I talked too. Alright...they're the only Meijers within a good distance of where I'm staying, hell got the number from my cousin who's a Westland Native. Could it all have been a bad coincidence? Were the gods of fate deciding to take a dump on my Meijer's experience? Could very well be. So they're down to 2 stars, and if I have to hit up another large super-store while I'm in MI, guess I'll be going to a Target as so far I'm 0 for 2 on a good experience. read more

It's your standard Meijer. I generally shop here once a week. However, there is always a line at checkout. As busy as this place is they really need more cashiers. I am not a self checkout person as I buy a lot of produce and it takes to took to look up the numbers. I also am too slow finding the UPC at self checkouts, so I prefer to have a cashier scan my groceries. 3 stars for having things in stock most of the time. The employees are pretty friendly at the register. However, it is difficult to find an employee on the floor-especially in the produce area. My daughters loves Sandy (the horse). read more

The only place I go grocery shopping! I go out of my way to visit this location because of the personable staff, the selections (especially on brand new on the market items), and it has become a one stop shop for me.
