Ever since the great pandemic, this location has gone down hill. They don't have the same variety as the Mound or Van Dyke stores and they are always out of stock on so many items that the other store are able to get. The bottle return is usually filthy and sticky with several machines not working - if it's open at all. The bathroom area usually smells like sewage from about the baking items aisle up to the cold storage in the last aisle. Lack of shopping carts IN the store has been an issue as well. I get that they are union and can't have just any employee get carts from the lot; however shouldn't management be stepping in? read more

The new makeover to this location has really proved useful. In general the store seems more organized and more inviting/clean. Hopefully it will last! We don't stop in here often but when we do, the shelves are very full with a wide variety of items. read more

The Madison Heights store underwent a major makeover the past several months. One thing they did? Got rid of the meat counter. That's ... not an improvement! Granted- it was often not manned very well - costing countless sales. But the solution was to find a way to keep it staffed. Doesn't take an MBA to figure that out. read more

This store is fine unless you do pick up. Half of the time they claim they're out of things, or they are way outside of the window they provide. They don't provide updates at all either, so if they're out of an ingredient and you really need it, you're screwed if they run out. It's almost 6, and I selected pickup between 5-6, they haven't even started. This is a common occurrence. read more

This used to be my go to Meijer location, primarily because it was on the way between work and home before I retired. We were recently at lunch with friends nearby and I had planned to stop at a Meijer location for something we wanted that was in their latest sale ads. We were driving along 13 Mile Road when I spotted it and remembered that it was here so I thought I'd save an extra trip and stopped. I was in and back out quickly as I was mostly focused on a couple of specific items and not open to distractions. The store was generally clean and organized as I remember it from before. The staff I dealt with were polite and helpful as I usually find at other Meijer locations. Altogether this was a quick stop that saved me another trip later on. I usually come here to this Meijer to get my grocery staples here every week. I was horrified to find this in the meat cooler yesterday and it wasn't even marked down as a manager's special and the best by date was for today. It made me sick to see this unhealthy color. I don't eat beef hardly at all but I do know this isn't a good color, ever. Staff should go around the store as and put themselves in their customers shoes to see what they are trying to sell to their consumers. read more

If I could give negative stars. I would.This store's customer service e experience was horrendous. I'm short, the card reader at the gas pump kept saying declined. We knew quite well that the account was fine. We were charged a ridiculous amount each time we tried to swipe the card. We were directed to customer service in the store. The CSR had not seen an incident like this, so she called for a manager. The manager was absolutely rude and nasty with her attitude. She acted as though it was our fault that their pump is faulty. We have to wait until they get off their kiesters to make sure that the $725 that was erroneously charged to my sisters account was released. Meijer, there is nothing more pure Michigan than this shop. It's the 24hr one stop shop, from groceries to apparel, electronics, toys to pharmaceuticals, it's all housed under one roof. I like shopping at meijer, and I do enjoy browsing around from time to time. This particular meijer is pretty nice. It's set up differently from some of the newer meijer that I can recall, but it's still pretty easy to navigate. We found everything we needed. There are associates everywhere and I haven't needed any help at the time, but I'm sure they'll be glad to help if ever. I had a very good experience here at this meijer. So I went in to get baby snacks and food. The price listed under the sign didn't show up so I called the cashier over. He then says it's not in the paper so he calls the manager. So I wait for her to come over then go over to the baby section and say the things that I had that had the sale tag in front of them weren't included. I'm very lactose intolerant so I have to have no dairy at all ... my body can't handle it! I was shopping at the Meijer on 13 mile in Madison Heights today in the afternoon and used the self checkout lane. There was an item that would not scan for me and the associate came. I told her I tried to scan but it would not so she grabbed it out of my hand and with frustration and anger in her voice scanned it herself. She was African American with long red braided hair. The amount of work in the amount of pay don't match up. The cart attendant only getting paid $9.90 . They make the cart attendance do more than just push carts. They replace all the trash bins inside and out. Clean up litter from outside and inside and clean up bathrooms. Basically they try to make them as janitorial. I am SO glad the nearby Kroger opened. I used to shop here a lot and would get frustrated by the pallets of good blocking or congesting aisles. Why is there an obstacle course to go grocery shopping? The trash cans out front are always overfilled. Staff isn't eager to assist customers. And don't get me started on the amount of check out lines open. It's usually two with huge lines. I don't like the u-scans - #1 Meijer doesn't offer me a discount for checking myself out and #2 every other item prompts the Meijer staff to clear errors or whatever. However, if you go down the street to Kroger, you will find friendly staff, many open checkouts WITH baggers, and open aisles. Meijer- you had many years to get it right and give customers a good shopping experience, but you didn't and now I can just go Krogering. read more

Convenient neighborhood grocery store/pharmacy that is open 24/7 for last minute or small shopping needs. Meijer also has a gas station on the premises whose prices are pretty competitive for the area. My favorite section is the produce. Very fresh. As someone who tries to eat one salad a day, I constantly run out of lettuce. Meijer is less than a mile away and is perfect for a small drive-by after work. When I don't want to drive all the way out to the commissary on Selfridge, I turn to this Meijer's location! read more

I can't say I've got too many complaints about this Meijer - it's clean, well stocked, and the employees are helpful when you've got a question. The lines can be a pain in the ass sometimes (speed it up, cashiers!) and not being a Michigander I still can't get past the stupid mandatory recycling this state has - but that's hardly Meijer's fault. The staff was super friendly and anticipated my questions when I was looking for the bottle return area which I annoyingly had to exit the store and enter a separate room to get to it . The bottle return area was FILTHY! I wonder if they had even cleaned it that month.... the floor was STICKY and the place smelled like garbage . Once I returned my bottles I headed to the customer service desk to cash in my receipt and was met by a very friendly and happy customer service agent that helped to make this experience less painful in the long run. read more

This is my go to Meijer store. I know where everything is and it's well stocked. The manager Ray is really nice too. The only complaint I have is the bottle return area is in a separate room outside of the store. I kick myself each visit, wondering if these low costs are worth the long wait in line. I spent 20 minutes waiting for lunch meat alone. Ps - when you have 8 customers waiting, maybe hold off on the mandatory "do you want cheese or salad with that". This store has no management!!!!!!!! i've been going here for several years I can never get any customer service. it's closer to my house and either other ones about every two months I give it a try and I regret it every time!!!! last time I was in line so long I called customer service the phone rang for 30 minutes no one answered no one cared!!! last night I went out for two items at 8o'clock I need some bok choy to finish off for dinner dish!!! I have noticed we usually have excellent produce very fresh but when I got to the store it was completely bare I couldn't believe there was no product out. I went to the service desk and asked for somebody could help me they said they would send somebody over. I finally seen the gentleman that was supposed to be working in the area I tried talking to him three times and he couldn't hear me because he had headphones on, another customer said she had the same problem right next to me!! so I went back up to the counter told the customer service that's the gentleman working department has headphones on and he can't hear anything anybody seen can you please help me? she said OK she asked what I needed I told her what I was looking for, she walked into the back it was gone about three or four minutes and came back out and said they don't have any more produce in the back??? and that the trucks don't come in till in the morning??? I can't find that hard to believe I understand it's a busy store they probably get shipments in daily but even on a Sunday?? they they would actually be out of over 30 items at the same time? so I decided to go to the other Myers in Royal Oak a little further away but I walked in the store was completely stocked, There was another gentleman working in the department going to be right to the item I needed it was a service expected for Mejiers along!!! I just don't understand Myers is supposed to be a family owned Opry store and you would expect customer service from them at the store and Madison Heights has no service!!!!!! and has had no service for the past six months the last three times I've been in nothing but trouble and problems along with also having to wait anywhere from 30 to minutes to an hour to check out, and I'm not exaggerating, I would figure in a grocery store retail the point of sale would be concentrating on getting the people out of the store and cashing them out not have them stand in line, I also don't understand why they have 16 registers with 12 items or less open at self check out, and only two with 12 items or more and then you're lucky to find if there's two or three cashiers working.. I don't know if Mejiers understands this but when I go there it's usually for a lot of items not 12 or less it makes no sense to me!!! I grew up loving Meijer as a kid. My friends and I would ride our bikes up to the one at 16 and Dequindre for all our sports or bike needs. As a adult my love for Meijer continued. Everything you needed in one store. Since around the time of Fred Meijer's passing the store has really gone down hill. Not enough cashiers, too many self scans, not enough staff period. Lines are regularly backed up into the clothing isles. On many occasions I walked in to find zero carts available. Broken bottle return machines, filthy parking lot. They have decided that profits are much more important than customer satisfaction. The brass have arrogantly ruined a once great franchise. My money now goes to Kroger. Kroger has baggers and plenty of cashiers and staff. Shame on the current heads of Meijer. read more

Nostalgia for the entire chain has bought this particular store location a 5-star review. I become more and more of a fan of the great state of Michigan the further away I get from it, and it's because of places like this and the services that they offer. Don't take it for granted! Twenty-four hour access for ALL things, not just produce? Yes, puh-leeeeze. I was there last night and saw a granny shopping for pjs for (what I hope is) her grand-daughter. At 11 PM. When the mood hits you, I guess! SO glad that they have self-scan now, too. It's the comprehensive offerings in a familiar non-national-aka-Walmart atmosphere that really buy my loyalty. Meijer is my favorite big box store and this is my favorite local Meijer. Sometimes I go to the one at Coolidge & 14 Mile, other times I go to the one at Telegraph & 12 Mile. But every time I wind up wishing I was at this one instead. It's best-organized and has the best selection. The Madison Heights Meijer is a little less geriatric than others (particularly the Coolidge store) and therefore the other shoppers tend to move at a more agreeable pace. The International foods aisle (as well as International produce) has a better selection here as well. The only place I think this Meijer lacks, in comparison to the Coolidge store at least, is it's craft beer aisle. They do a better job of stocking a good variety and keeping everything organized over on Coolidge. The Madison Heights craft beer aisle is getting better, I'll give them that, but when it comes down to it there are better places to shop for craft beer than Meijer anyhow. Careful driving here during Canadian Goose season (which is like 11 months long) and whatever you do, don't try to pick up the cute little chicks wandering around the parking lot. I am referring here to both the Avian and Human variety. You should just trust me on this one. read more

Since many larger chains are not 'local' to Michigan, I like the fact the Meijer is Michigan based. In the past I wasn't huge fan of Meijer, but I decided to give Meijer a second chance this past Autumn (2009). What I found is a well stocked store, a great layout, and friendly employees... I was won over! The prices are great, and I don't know if it by coincidence or magic, but it always seems like the items I want to buy are on sale, plus I have coupons -- nothing makes me smile more than saving money on food (I prefer to blow my check on clothes and shoes.. UGH). If you haven't shopped Meijer lately, I strongly suggest you give it a whirl. read more

Located on 13 Mile between john r. and Dequindre Meijer offers customers everything form postage stamps to produce to cosmetics to clothing. With the rising prices of food items Meijer manages to offer shoppers some of the best deals around. For example, they have recently began offering their own line of organic products including pastas, beans, and diary for a fraction of the price at most stores. So, for those of us that like to eat organic, but are suffering from the prices, Meijer offers a solution. in addition, Meijer supports local farmers and tries to carry as much locally grown produce as possible. Also, with gas prices skyrocketing, Meijer is fantastic because the pretty much have it all. need make-up, pork chops, diapers, Meijer has got you covered. The store is always well stocked and clean. the staff is friendly as much as the are helpful, So, if you dread having to go form store to store to get everything on your list, check out Meijer and make one stop instead of 12. read more

One big turnoff in regards to ALL Meijer locations, is the long check out lines. Tonight I had to wait over 30 minutes, just to pay for my items. They had one section of self scan registers closed down. The cashier who rang me up, was a senior citizen who didn't know the first thing about bagging, He placed Clorox wipes in with my shredded cheese. Then he placed my Ivory bar soap in with some other fresh food I bought. I would expect a guy his age, should know better! He also looked rather unkempt. It seems today good help is hard to find! Maybe it is due to the never ending pandemic, the wages or whatever. The prices at Meijer have risen quite substantially also. Again they are not alone in this regard, Kroger and other chain stores are doing the same. Bottom line if you need to get in and out quickly, forget shopping at Meijer.
