07/20/26 - Never been to Meijer store before. I live in Illinois so to experience this store in Michigan was pretty cool. This Meijer store was huge & super clean. They had a fresh food section on the far left in the center of the store & a beautiful home section to the right of the entry. Even though we really didn't spend much time there I was especially impressed w/the cleanliness & organization of this store. My wife & her brother were anxious to go find someplace to eat as we had just driven to Holland MI from Chicago so we really didn't spend much time here One thing I found that interesting that I had never seen before was a changing station for an adult. read more

Delma in the pharmacy was very patient with me and checking OTC compliance. She was very personable. I appreciate that. I had to get a tall guy to grab the Kraft dressing off the very top shelf for me though. Otherwise it was a good necessary shopping experience. The store is clean, comfortable and accommodating. For the most part I like your Meijer on 16th but I do have two complaints. 1) Not all their greeters seem to l enjoy they're jobs or their selective in who they welcome. Some seem to actively try to look occupied as soon as you walk through the second set of sliding doors. They'll look at you then look down as you walk in...and it tends to be the same greeters every time. 2) Twice now I've asked people at the doughnut section if these particular doughnuts are Boston cream filled and both tubes they swore that these are. Never again will I trust the bakery people who either lie or don't know their own products. read more

This was our first stop on our vacation for some groceries. I had no idea it was like a target! Before I knew it, our boy was leading us to the lego aisle and getting a toy :P it was nice and I can see why it's so loved over here. #1 I really don't understand the reason for closing doors on one side of the store after certain hours. Just because you don't have a door person is no reason for the door to be locked. It's inconvenient for a few reasons. #2 you no longer have a dressing room? I don't know when this happened but you lost a sale from me tonight and in the the future. Was it because of theft? Don't sales outweigh the theft? Maybe an employee working the department should be monitoring people taking clothes in and what they come out with. If it's for some other reason, maybe it's time to just eliminate clothing altogether. Who wants the hassle of returning things that don't fit? we've got online shopping for that. read more

Kelsey is AMAZING! I have to admit that I was annoyed not having someone verify my age for an alcoholic beverage. Upon arrival she was bubbly and fantastic and also soon realized that she had 15+ other terminals to be at so I immediately apologized for my rudeness and praised her for all she does because until that very moment of realization, I had no idea how hard they have to work. Went to Meijer for a few things. Nice clean store. Easy checkout with just a few people. Got some 4th of July stuff on clearance.

Was at the store and didn't see one employee on the floor in half an hour. I needed something locked up in electronics. called the store and was told they would send someone. Daughter asked someone be paged. Finally asked at service desk for help. FINALLY found someone after 45 minutes. They didn't want my money very badly. Someone could have ripped them off big time with no employees around! read more

The cashiers and baggers are ftiendly , the stire itself is often a little dirtier than a grocery store should be. This store draws a lot of ppl from rural areas so ecpect some wierd rudeness from patrons. I only come hete when all other options are exhausted. read more

Mediocre service and food! Not really the experience we were expecting. Servers were ok, but didn't seem very happy to have us there!

I got a pick up order and the majority of my items were either out of bags or in ripped bags this was very disappointing.

I have been shopping here for a long time, but recently the service is poor. Cashiers will barely look at you let alone greet you with a smile. Some of the older ones need to retire. They are crazy grumpy. I just might start shopping elsewhere. read more

I love meijers but this meijers deli selection is down right sad. I bought a chicken salad sandwich and it was dried out and in desperate need of salt. The spread didn't even cover the entire bread. Really disappointing. Update: I wanted to switch pharmacies and wanted to use Meijer because it's close to me. I called in to make arrangements on Thursday morning, it took me four days to receive my high blood pressure medication because no one ever called my old pharmacy to retrieve my information. I called four days straight and day after day I got excuses as to why no one bothered to call my old pharmacy. Finally on the fourth day my husband called and talked directly to the pharmacy manager and she acted as though it was no big deal. Last time I checked with my doctor not taking my blood pressure meds was a big deal. This meijers is beyond sub par. After shopping at Meijer for over 20 years I have officially become a Walmart shopper. read more

We do about 1/3 of our grocery shopping at this Meijer. It is the closest Meijer to where we currently live and it carries some specialty items that we purchase that most smaller places don't. Staffing wise there are some really nice employees that you run into here. Meijer is very well-know (especially in West Michigan) for training their employees well. This isn't true of all Meijer locations but it is true of this one. This is a moderate sized Meijer. It's not as large as the one down the street on US-31 but it gets the job done. My experience here has always been positive and barring moving far away I will continue to give it quite a bit of business. read more

Since there's no Kroger's around these parts, Meijer's was and is my go-to when I'm here in Holland. The store is absolutely massive. A little bit too big for my basic grocery needs. But at least you're more likely to find what you want. I feel their deals aren't anything special, but maybe I just don't know the ropes. The store itself is fine. There's a decent selection of most items, and then some seemingly normal things out of stock (what, no fresh basil? In June??) But, checkout is such a complete nightmare, that it almost caused us to go postal. I was there pretty late on a Saturday (around 10). There were three checkout lanes. I chose one that had a couple being checked out with all of their items out of their cart being rung up, and a kid with 3 items in front of me. Shouldn't be too long for me to get checked out, right? WRONG! The young guy ringing people up was ridiculously slow, and the couple were the worst customers ever. Every other item she questioned the price on (and was usually wrong) and then would inspect items as they were being rung up and ask to have them replaced because she didn't like their quality. 35 minutes later - yes 35 MINUTES - it was the kid's turn and then mine. There is just no excuse for that kind of wait, and for someone not stepping in and helping customers standing in line, sweating (did I mention it seemed they cut off ac at 11?) when it's not even a frickin holiday. I understand it's a smallish town and things move slower than the big bad city, but the combo of a nightmare customer and the SLOW guy at the register was so bad I don't think we'll be back (or I'll use those self service lanes). Oh, and the nightmare woman - she was at customer service arguing about something on her receipt as I left. read more

I was totally disgusted to see the live betas fishes they carry: the poor fishes were swimming in their own feces many of them dead.. I am an animal lover and will keep contacting Meijer's about this situation until it's fixed. read more

I've been coming to this store for years and overall am very happy with it. It's biggest strength is also it's biggest weakness which makes this such a weird review to write. Depending on which employees you deal with it can be either a great experience or one that will frustrate you to almost the breaking point. Some of their employees are just the best people you'll find in a retail business and others of them are about totally useless and sometimes even borderline on rude. If they can get a better interview process put in place to weed out the undesirables this could be a really great place to shop. As far as the store itself goes I've always found it to be clean and well organized. Considering their somewhat limited floor space they have available they do a good job of trying to give their customers as big of a selection as possible. This store does a good job of filling a need in this small town. There's room for improvement, but overall a good place to shop. read more

I do like Meijer. For the most part they do have good people working there. The shelves are full with selection. The store is clean. A couple of compliments that I would like to throw out is when it was raining cats and dogs, they had someone watch your cart for you while you went and got your car and pulled it up under the porch/covered area. They have also come out and served cookies in the checkout lanes when it was winter and a storm was coming so everyone thought they needed to go buy bread and milk. The lines were long but they had every one of them open. The only downfall about Meijer in the Holland, MI area is that it's the only grocery store to shop at. There is Walmart or you can pay an arm and a leg to shop at Family Fare. There really is no competition. I like competition. I like to change it up once in a while. read more

I've been shopping at this Meijers for almost 30 years. I've never had a great shopping experience there but I've never had the worst shopping experience of my life there until today. I went in for few grocery items and saw that bacon was on sale. There were only 4 bags left of this particular brand so I grabbed one. Upon paying the price came up double and I let the self service guy know. He looked for coupons and couldn't find any so I told him I'd be ok to walk back and take a picture of the sale. I did so, brought the picture back to him, he saw it and adjusted the price while saying, "that's usually the most expensive kind" to which I thought, oh, well I better go back and buy the last 3 bags if it's that great of a deal. So I went back and got them, upon checkout he tells me, "oh I can't authorize that adjustment" which in my mind was ludicrous since he had just done that exact price adjustment not 3 minutes prior for the EXACT same thing!! So he calls for a manager. I stood there in line for 20 MINUTES before an extremely rude manager finally showed up. She walks up on her phone and says rudely "What do you want!?", I explained and showed her the receipt and she immediately cuts me off and says "we already helped you once we WON'T DO IT AGAIN!!!" I immediately left disgusted in the way I was treated and told them I'd be writing this review. I can't believe after 30 years of shopping loyalty this is how I was treated by management no less. If you can avoid shopping at this store, I strongly suggest you shop elsewhere. I personally along with everyone I can let know and values where they spend their hard-earned money will no longer shop here. Absolutely the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY 30 WASTED YEARS OF SHOPPING AT THE 16TH STREET MEIJERS. I wish I had every penny I spent there back. Horrendous customer service. read more

The 16th street Meijer's needs to carry more foods for people of color they used too sell bagged Collard Greens since they no longer sell them have too go out of the way and go to purchase at WalMart on top of that the last time I went too purchase them at WalMart they had turned brown and was 1 day from being past the due date had also requested hog head cheese the manager had said he would put in a request had it only for one day had went back several times just too see and they no longer sold it what makes it even worse Boar's head is located right in Holland read more

Today we were in the midst of the 16th st, and the customer service person named Amber was very racist with us and the manager also had, we wanted to change some shirts and shorts for a larger size and we did not have the purchase receipt and They asked us for ID and because they didn't have a state ID, they didn't change anything, to two American people who were first that we didn't ask for ID or receipt, and for me that was racism ... I just hope they don't do the same to someone else. remember that Hispanics also work to pay for our things, we don't steal anything from anyone read more

I've lived back east where Piggly Wiggly and Publix are king. I've lived out west where Trader Joe's is champion. Meijer's is the store to beat in Michigan. The selection was great as things were always in stock and high quality. The sheer variety of items was astounding. If you need food - look no further. I wandered around with my wife not thinking we needed anything and ended up filling an entire cart with goodies. read more

Meijer is my favorite store but today the "service associate" if you will (I was in the u-scan checkout so I was my own cashier) took the umbrella from my niece and put it in the return to the store grocery cart and my sister asked my niece where her umbrella was, and she said the lady took it from her. Then the lady (name tag Nancy) told her that she put it in the cart to return to the store, and my sister told her "well I just paid for that." Nancy was grouchy and said she had to see the receipt for it, a fine request but her customer service was non existent, and she stay hovering over my sister's shoulder waiting for her to dig through all the bags before she would even entertain the thought of retrieving the umbrella! Finally we found the receipt and handed it to Nancy, who went and identified the entire sku was on the receipt as well as the umbrella. Once she identified that my sister had infact paid for the umbrella she handed it back to her and didn't say any further words. Thanks Nancy for your due diligence in theft prevention but work on your customer service! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Victoria E.at the 16th Street Meijer's in Holland, MI. She helped me as a fashion clerk , and answered all my questions, assisted me in finding the proper fit. She is truly a "PEOPLE PERSON". You should have her train all of your other employees. She impressed me so much, that if have begun to shop more at Meijer's on 16 th Street. Pros: easily find great selections in the groceries section and the produce section is very good! Cons: Check out is absolutely the worst (It takes longer to check out than to grab groceries). They have 20+ lanes but only 5 or 6 will be open when it is super busy. The self service lanes are always slow, it always seems that they all break down at the same time, and because they are under-staffed. The self service employee has to run around constantly and is overworked trying to fix the checkout machines. Management needs to hire more people for checkout (incl. self checkout) or pay that poor kid more for putting up with us! Overall I prefer going to D&W or Family Fare despite higher prices but less checkout headache. read more

Just finished shopping at 16th st store and not enough checkers working. Had to stand in line at least 10min. in Express line; people complaining but don't call mgr. when they get home. I called but was not able to get through to mgr....they don't want to talk to people who complain. going to do more of my shopping at Aldi's where service is much better. read more

This review is not for the Meijer's in general it is for the bakery inside of meijers as I was in kind of a jam and forgot to order a birthday cake for my work I call a couple places (Family Fare) to see if they could do a same day order but I kept getting a no even with no deadline in the day whenever pick up was fine as long as it was that day since I wouldnt have time to pick it up the next morning. Long story short I called 16th st. and the sweet young lady on the other end of the phone said "well my cake order is done for the day but I could squeeze you in before I leave," not only was she happy to help she had the cake done by 2pm!! Thanks lady you made my day a whole bunch easier!!! read more
