Their cookies are thick, decorations on the cut outs are so different and cute. The cakes look very nice and I know the icing is great!!!!! They have different cake items like cupcakes, small mini cakes and soooo much more! You should drive that extra mile because it is the place. People were ordering cakes when I was there. The chocolate creamstick was soft and absolutely packed with cream. It reminded me of the old-school Krispy Kreme Long Johns. The chocolate frosting was a little too sweet for me, though--I wanted more actual chocolate flavor. The chocolate cake donut with peanut butter cream was better. Great chocolate/peanut butter combination, although the cake donut itself was a little drier than I prefer. Nothing some chocolate milk couldn't fix. The maple bacon creamstick was easily the Best of the Box. Great maple flavor, plenty of fresh, quality bacon, a soft donut and sweet cream filling. The salty bacon with the maple and cream was an excellent combination. This is the one I'd specifically recommend. My son got the maple bacon round, and since he'll eat basically anything sweet, we'll consider him an enthusiastic but unreliable witness. Not everything quite lived up to the considerable hype for me, but the maple bacon creamstick definitely did. Between that, the wonderful service and the enormous selection, there's plenty of reason to come back and explore more of the case.

A self-aware donut snob, I typically like to bring donuts in while I am making customer visits throughout my travels. I carefully research the areas that I am visiting for the best independent local donut shops. If I cannot find one, I refuse to entertain "big donut" chains. They're garbage, as my donut shop owning grandfather used to say. I've visited Johnnie's a couple of times. I'm easy - 1 or 2 dozen and I let them pick the mix as long as there are a few glazed mixed in each box. Always a hit when I bring them in and they are always appreciated. Would I go back? Absolutely. I'd like to believe that none of them ever get thrown away. I always make the suggestion to not throw any of them away. Take them home so they don't go to waste. Pro Tip: Get there early. Johnnie's is a gem but it's no secret. The locals flock to Johnnie's to get their donut fixes and they know to get there early.
