So, shopping at the Big Rapids location and I'm pretty appalled actually. I came in to do some shopping for sugar free/carb free cake that I'm making for a friend of mine's daughter. You know, kids have it hard enough these days but when you add in ANY type of illness it just makes it that much worse! So I'm hoping to make a beautiful and tasty cake for this young lady turning 13, whose friends regularly eat sugar filled cake. Of course Meijer doesn't sell these cakes and I'm not a professional baker but if I were I would certainly try to accommodate my customers if I didn't carry something they needed. Long story semi short... you can't SELL a cake board and plastic cover to a customer who is making something you don't? Really? First off way to fail at customer service! Second, I HATE Walmart but at least I can buy a plastic/cardboard cake plate from them!! Update: Meijer contacted me and apologized for this encounter. They stated normally they would not sell their supplies but in certain cases a team lead should be consulted. He stated in this case they would have sold me one cake board and dome. I really appreciate that they did this and they also stated they would bring this up with the staff working that day to clarify. Not really sure what's going on with this place it is so hard to find a clerk to help you I went in on a Friday early morning and there was one clerk behind the deli counter there was one other person ahead of me which was perfectly fine but then they were like six more people that came up and one clerk why can't they have more help I saw two managers walked by and I feel that as a manager or even an assistant manager or department manager and they say it's busy in a department they should hustle their butt over and help until it's cleared up if they are a manager anywhere in that store they should know the ins and outs of all the departments. This poor girl behind the deli counter was working her rear end off trying to help everybody and I could not believe the managers just walked past one gentleman finally came out and he definitely appeared like he didn't want to be there he was actually shuffling his feet and it sounded like he was wearing slippers because he was shuffling that bad really sad place I think the managers need to be retrained and jump in where they can. Shame on those two male managers that walked by and did go help this young woman. read more

I like the store, but hard to find what you are looking for anymore. This store seems to be less impressive than the one located in Cedar Springs. This store needs an overhaul and upgrade to meet the demands of the ever changing diets. Also, if you use the self check out then why are the customers not receiving a discount? After all, we are checking out ourselves, bagging our items ourselves as if we are an employee and not getting paid or receiving a discount. Just a thought. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could......I have a Meijer gift card and I live in Lansing. My sis needed to get some food items for her son in Big Rapids......I tried to order her stuff online and u can't use gift cards online. Why?! Cuz apparently Meijer doesn't know that websites can take multiple forms of payments these days.....anyway, so I call the store and first I speak to a 75 year old woman that tried to explain technology to me....ummm....I said, "ur making shit up now, lemme talk to a manager". I'm then connected to Amy. Oh Amy. She gets on and I ask why can't I use it online? If I cant use it online, can I send my sis pics of the card and they can manually enter it in? WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC!!!!! PEOPLE ARE FUCKIN BROKE!!!!!! Amy talked over me the entire time just so she could be right and enforce her "policies".......Meijer doesn't give a shit. They won't even bend the rules to help a struggling member of their community!!!! Horrible service my 10lb tiny doggie was not allowed inside the store even thou he was not on a leash and was being carried into the store the women service representative that was at the door on Saturday 18 at 2:55pm rudely told me to exit the store before even letting me explain that my dog is an emotional support animal, I did not even waste time to explain because of how rudely she spoke to me never did I expect to be treated so poor in a store i come to everyday, because of your employee you lost a loyal customer and I will not be coming back. She needs to be taught some manners at least, instead of shoving people out the door. The funny part is that not two minutes after my husband went in the store to buy our necessaries and a huge dog with no service vest and on a least was in the store with another customer, so that tells me I can't take my support animal inside but other people can take their dogs that are not even certified. Amazing job you kept the store safe from any threat, I hope you sleep well at night. Please help your employees become better people, or hire someone who actually cares about their job cause she didn't and this offensive employee needs to be taken seriously. read more

I will give credit where it is due Meijer in Big Rapids has the best produce in the area.Their meat is over priced I can get pork & chicken for half the cost of Meijers at local stores pet supplies are over priced. Isles are always crowded with stock carts with nobody around add to that the self important customers that block off isles while they stand and talk(Not Meijers fault). Sale items are very often out of stock or not on shelves. Then you get to checkout with few lanes ope and people stacked up 5&10 deep checkers that stand and talk with friends while people wait I hate to go into Meijers and Walmart they are both the same with the same issues. read more

I went to Meijer on 12-6-17. I only needed to few stamps, so I stopped by the service desk. I asked for 2 stamps, and the cashier said, "We don't sell individual stamps." I was disappointed and walked out. read more

If I could give a zero rating to the pharmacy I would. We used to get all our prescriptions at Meiers. Not anymore. There inventory is nonexistent. Whoever does the ordering should be fired. They never have medicines in stock. They simply don't care about customers. Last year my husband had a quintuple bypass surgery. On the day he returned home, we needed medication for that day. Assuming meijer's would have this very common med, we had the hospital call it in. When we arrived, we were informed that they didn't have the med. It was imperative he have this. They refused to help. Refused to call the doctor, refused to call another pharmacy etc. We went to Walmart, they called Meijers, got the script, and filled it. Kudos to Walmart. Enough of that. Skip to now. The same thing just happened to me. Friday I had a script called in to Meijers. Guess what? Yep, didn't have it. Come back Monday, after 2. Ok, we live in the country 40 miles away. Came back Monday, guess what? No script, no med, don't know when they'll get it. Corporate can't find it, don't know when. Actual quote "go home, and we'll call you when we have it". Seriously? Went to Rite Aid, they got the script and filled it. Will Never go there again! read more

My cousin and I came in here with her 16 month old son to buy a bunch of groceries. We also bought a 6 pack of beer. Btw, I am 30 and she is 29. We BOTH got carded because we were going through the line together. What kind of BS is that? I didn't have my ID on me, so she couldn't buy the beer. I don't know if this is some sort of law or what, but it's a dumb one. Nothing stopped her from going right back through the line by herself 30 seconds later to buy the beer. who makes these rules anyway? read more

I like the fact they are strict about their ID policy- in a university town it's important. BTW I'm 44 and I get carded every time. They have a great meat dept., and a nice produce department. The store is clean. The prices are LOW and the staff is super friendly. Even better, most times they have plenty of checkouts open so you can get in and out easily. read more

Holy cow this grocery store is amazing!!! It has everything, and I mean everything you can think of in a store, including a pet section with fish to buy! Yes, pet fish!! They have their typical grocery fare like baking and paper goods, chips and drinks, etc, but I gave to say, the amount of different brands and choices to choose from is impressive! I honestly could spend hours in here, just deciding on what brand of things I should purchase since the selection is great! Huge fresh fruit and veggie section in the front of the store along with their delicious looking cakes and pies! The aisles are long and spacious, giving much room to maneuver around other customers or stand there while deciding what to purchase. Lots of self checkout stands make it easy for you to be on your way with your purchases, I stool in line for a live person and she was friendly and pleasant! I will be back for more!!! read more

The prices may not always be competitive with WalMart, but the store is clean, produce is wonderful as is the meat, and there is always someone to help you if you need it. They go out of their way to help. I would not shop any where else. read more

I avoid Meijer like the plague (walmart too). The customer service sucks, except for the deli and most of the cashiers. There are always empty spots on the shelves and more often then not, it is the product that you want. Do not ask those stocking where something is, they don't know. Compared to several other Meijers in several other counties...this one is the worst. I will either wait until I have to go to Grand Rapids or go with out before I go back to Meijer in Big Rapids, MI. read more
