Great place for a grab-and-go lunch in the Quay.
I used to eat a lot of sushi. And I mean a LOT of sushi. I loved the stuff. Sushi dates were a regular occurrence in my world. Then, about 6 years ago, through no sushi's fault, I had some bad salmon. Some really bad salmon. It took about 6 months of testing and medications to recover. The worst part of the whole experience was that the medication I was on made wine taste horrible. I drank it anyway of course, but it really wasn't pleasant.
After that experience it was hard to go back to anything raw or raw-ish. Even the sight of a fried tempura roll would spark a fear deep inside. Over the past year or so I've been trying to slowly reintroduce myself to a food I one loved so much, and it hasn't been easy. The sight of a sushi tray can cause flashbacks to the months I spent in pain drinking bad tasting wine, but I'm fighting my way through.
And along came Megumi. Steps from my office tucked away in one of the piers in Circular Quay. Dan P. was checking in fairly regularly, so when I found myself wanting a healthier fresh lunch I wandered down. The Salmon & Avo fresh roll is fantastic, and the sushi I've tried has tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. I was so impressed by the food Megumi served up, I found myself back there about a week later - picking up extra rolls for someone working through lunch. They were equally happy with the sushi selection.
Prices are as expected for the area where everything gets a Harbour Premium tacked on. For $12 you'll be full of delicious food. Thanks, Megumi, for helping me love sushi again. read more
