As a Mortgage Broker in California and Texas for over 20 years, I am grateful to be working with a lender such as Mega Capital Funding. Specifically Jeff and Devina are keys to their solid process. We look forward to working with them for years to come. read more

I recently updated my insurance coverage and notified Mega Capital Funding right away. Despite this, I received several letters claiming my policy had been canceled--including a demand that I pay for a alleged 12-day lapse in coverage. In the end, I had to set up a 3-way conference call between my new insurance provider and Mega Capital to prove my coverage had never lapsed. read more

If I could give this mortgage company a zero I would. It is absolutely the worst mortgage broker I've ever had to work with. Our mortgage was sold to them and I wouldn't ever use them willingly. I literally had a gentleman from Mexico tell me the person I spoke with the previous afternoon was wrong and gave me inaccurate information. He had me hold for five minutes while he spoke to his supervisor and then when I asked to speak to said supervisor he told me he wouldn't be able to have me do so and that I'd have to wait for someone to call me in a 48 hour window but there was as a holiday (he didn't know which) thus it would be 5 days before someone would call me back. Even though I had spoken with someone the night before and was told it would be taken care of as long as I called in the morning. This is only the last example of our dealings with this terrible company who clearly has no interest in serving their customers as they simply buy loans out from under other entities so there is no need for good customer service. read more

Terrible service. Worse service ever. Needs new management YESTERDAY. It takes 8-9 calls, 15 emails so that you get 1 thing done correctly. Horrible horrible horrible. Don't know how they're still in business, scary bad. read more

This was by far the worst mortgage experience I've ever had. The level of incompetence from the underwriting team was extremely frustrating and consistently delayed our process. We were initially told that our discount rate buy-down would be honored--even after our closing was pushed due to a roof leak on our new construction. Later, we found out that commitment was not upheld. On top of that, Mega Capital failed to deliver a timely clear-to-close to our builder, even though all required documentation had been submitted months in advance. This directly contributed to additional, avoidable delays. To make matters worse, on the actual day of closing, they had to rerun our credit report because they allowed the initial one to expire--another example of poor file management and lack of attention to detail. Overall, the communication, execution, and accountability across this process were unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with this lender. DON'T USE THEM. read more

This is the worst mortgage company I have ever dealt with. I had a late payment due to my bank sending payment to the wrong branch. Mega told me it was my issue and hit my credit report even thought payment was on time. Now they have raised my monthly payment $298 per month due to increased ins and property tax. My insurance went up $100 per month and property tax went down. They are unable to explain or do anything on the $190 remaining increase. Customer service is unable to make any changes to fix this read more

AE Kathy Teodoro is amazing along with the underwriters I have worked with. Easiest lender to work with on the wholesale side. Thank you for not making the process harder than it has to be. read more

I close a lot of business with Mega. They are very competitive with rates but more importantly they are great to work with. I have the option to send my business to several lenders but they are always in my top 2 or 3 choices even if rates are better elsewhere. read more

Sleazy group. I need a bath after working with them. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I have used Mega Capital as a mortgage broker many times as have many of my cohorts. It's important to note that Mega Capital Funding is a wholesale company ONLY. So the reviews below who are speaking about the bank directly are either speaking on behalf of a different company with a similar name or they are upset with their broker who may have blamed the bank, but it's not the bank they should be upset with. So if someone were to go to a broker who uses Mega Capital and doesn't do a good job, I assure you that it's the broker, not the bank with the problem. I've had nothing but success stories when it comes to this bank (but I'm also a very seasoned capable broker). It is also important to note that some of these reviews are referring to the servicing side of things as well. I challenge anyone to look up any big bank's servicing company to show me stellar reviews. I find it important to note that Mega is EXCEPTIONAL with their turn times, their low rate products and their operations. That is REALLY hard to find with a wholesale bank and Mega has it all! If you're scared of proceeding with this lender, it's the broker you should be worried about, not the bank. ;) read more

Do not use them , not responsive , customer service is poor. Delays in processing your loan. Closing not on time

If I could give fewer stars, I would. Mega Capital completely screwed us over and left us to dry after issuing closing disclosures with no change of income, debt or credit score on our end the day of the closing. No communication and no accountability. They kept moving the goal post and they refused to honor the loan terms they presented. Would not recommend to anyone. They have cost us so much money finding temporary housing with our 8 month old and pets while we had to scramble for another lender to help us close on a house. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

Everything that you read about the horrible experiences that brokers experience when dealing with Mega Capital Funding/MC Funding are the same experiences that I had when I put two loans through MC Funding. One of the loans that I submitted, the other I moved to a different wholesale source that funded the loan in typical market time. The loan that funded was my own loan! What could be as horrible as MC Funding's wholesale loan process? Their loan servicing! They are the worst! I could write a novel about how horrible my experience is with MC Funding every month when I try to go online to pay my mortgage, but their f'tup website doesn't work...again; and you have to bounce between a few completely incompetent persons answering the phone and transferring your call until the point that somebody disconnects you and you have to start over! Over the decades we've all had to deal with some really messed up companies. No matter whose incompetence you've been frustrated by, MC Capital will set a new standard of incompetence and customer frustration. read more

Cannot finish even the most simple, basic task. As a borrower I requested by 1098 tax document from Mega Capital, and not only did I never receive the right document, I was made to call three separate people who either never called me or emailed me back despite dozens of calls a day or didn't know how to send me a simple PDF. I called and emailed about, no joke, twenty times a day, literally every thirty minutes, so much that I was soon on first-name basis with the receptionists, but not once did the people in charge of sending me the documents get back to me. I'm glad other people who gave Mega Capital 5 stars had good experiences, but I definitely did not. Don't take the risk; avoid this place if you can. read more

The level of incompetence and red tape makes them a lender I will never use ever!!!! I was warned but others in the mortgage industry that they are known as MEGA F$&ked up bit I figured I would give them a try. Sent almost 5mill in loans and not one has closed on time or not been reconditioned 3-5 times. Do your clients a favor and stay away. read more

Tim Gibbons is a great AE. They have stepped up on difficult files. I will continue to use them.

If your broker offers Mega Capital as a option, skip it. They took 6 months to complete, at no fault of our own. Their underwriters are a huge pain to work with. I am fairly sure they dragged the process intentionally while rates were dropping in their favor. Seriously, run as fast as you can and use one of the many competing firms down in Irvine. read more

NEVER -EVER-EVER apply with these scoundrels. They are highly unprofessional and slow. They do all kinds of errors and make you pay for it and make you prove that you did not do it. And even if you send documents numerous times they still do not acknowledge it and have no emails or managers to be responsible. They just add on the added costs and do unscupulous business tactics and there is no one to take responsibility. read more

"inept fuckwits" pretty much sums this company up. They don't care about the consumer, the agencies involved or the Title co. if that isn't enough, they can't balance a financial sheet even when they have all the final numbers. on time you say? these asshats have their own timezone. i wouldn't be surprised if this was just a shell company for some foreign tax interest. avoid this place at all cost. or if you do use them, be prepared to do all the leg work, review all the paperwork and close at least a week or two beyond what this process typically takes. read more

I am a real estate broker involved in the selling side of a transaction wherein the buyer is trying to close with Mega Capital. This company is extremely incompetent and unresponsive to the ideas of real estate contracts and close of escrow dates. They use the excuse of being extremely busy and don't seem to prioritize based on dates that escrows are due to close. All loan documents have been signed and received by Mega Capital and yet still we are a week past our close of escrow date and they will still not commit to a funding date. Based on all the other one star reviews, it all seems extremely neglectful to the point of being suspicious that not all is what it seems with this company. read more

NO STARS!!! These people are pathetic. Inept. Incompetent. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. unresponsive. Have delayed a closing by 27 days!!! DON'T USE THEM! I am a realtor where their client bought my listing. They hide behind "technology " so that they don't have to talk to anyone. It took them 5 business days to find a liN AFTER sign off. And that too after we called, finally spoke to the funder after dozens of emails and phone messages and threatened legal action. She spent her time complaining how she was understaffed and overworked. The feds should shut them down!!! read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. "inept F*ckwits" was a term I read in one of the previous reviews that seemed to capture the essence of this team.... For 2 years I was dragged around by the staff here, after the initial 5 months it took for the refi to process, they started collecting an incorrect escrow amount that, despite my most sincere efforts, they simply could not get correct. Submitting documents multiple times over, calling and speaking to a different rep every 3 months who knew nothing of any previous calls, no record of my ongoing issue and every few months I was told the same thing; "it'll be taken care of just give it 90 days to process"... 90 days turned into 2 years of not paying my property taxes which, surprise, got a lien put on my home. If you value your time or your money, and you have a choice or an option, DO NOT use this company! read more

Fellow Mortgage Brokers: RUN! Don't waste your time, energy, money, and patience! This lender agreed to disregard a debt someone else was paying with proof of 12 months bank statements and after 2 weeks of processing the mortgage, at the last moment, they decided they could not delete it from the DTI and basically, killed my loan at the last minute. And they offered to alternatives or explanations. I will never do business with them again and I would recommend you don't either! There underwriters don't give a damn about us on the retail front line. I only gave them one star to get this review to post! I would give them negative stars if possible! read more

I'm a mortgage loan originator for a mortgage brokerage and we're approved to submit loans through Mega Capital, we typically are able to close our loans within 3 weeks for refinances with most lenders but with this lender we received approvals on the 1st and 2nd of the month and Mega is still unable to fund the loans within that same month. They're horrendously slow and incompetent, they don't have a working knowledge of basic compliance issues in the industry, and don't even know how the California refinance rescission period works and affects funding dates. They're seriously inept at this business, stay away. Get your loan from almost anyone else but this lender, I'll never take another client here regardless of their pricing, they'll ruin your transaction and your relationships with your clients. They willfully delay funding loans for no justifiable reason whatsoever, their funding manager, April Reyes, doesn't know basic loan compliance rules and when she finds out she's wrong, rather than fix her mistake, she doubles down and refuses to allow a loan to fund. People like her are who give our industry a very bad image to our borrowers. I hope they go out of business soon, they're bad for borrowers. read more

Amazing workers. Don't listen to the reviews. This is the best mortgage company I've ever dealt with.

I am very perplexed on all the other reviews on service. I have been working with Mega for many years now and I have experienced nothing but great service and commitment to their customers. I have also referred them many clients which are still with them today. We have experienced quick and reasonable turnaround times on our loans and the staff are very helpful and informative on the process. I definitely recommend this company! read more

This joke of a company had me jump through hoops for nearly 6 months before denying my loan (after giving me a certified close certificate). As a broker of Lending Works, I have been working with Mega closely for quite some time. During those years, Mega has always given a lot of support where support can and should be given. The rates have been in the top 5 to 10 percent amongst my book of lenders and certain niche programs have been readily available. The current company's personnel has been the smoothest running thus far for me. I can say that Mega will be amongst my top choice of lenders for some time to come. read more
