I've had plenty of experience buying homes and well I've been communicating with Nilu Askari for the past week trying to get cross approved per the selling agent's requirement. We have already been pre-approved by BOA (letter) and have our first property with them, this is a second home for us and have been experiencing some major hurdles trying to get this done. I sometimes think that since they have messed up so much during this process that they have failed in gaining our trust that they would at this point delay in getting us approved so that they could wait for an other offer on the property we are interested in and try and gain that business form the next person. I'm a fair person and understand but when your site doesn't work and keeps refusing to accept your information, calls are not returned and you are pretty much not getting help well it looks pretty disappointing all the way around. UPDATE 7/30/12: THIS MATTER WAS NOT RESOLVED, My conclusion was that Nilu was not happy to cross-qualify us for the listing agent since she knew that she would not obtain the business from a qualified BOA buyer. So she did everything to delay this approval since her site was broken she wanted my wife and I to drive to her location over an hour away after a week and a half of trying to get her to accept our information over PDF files. Well I'm happy to report that we ended up buying the property with an all cash offer 15K below what we had originally had offered. This chick screwed the listing agent and the seller. She did this only to look after her own interest and not the interest of those who are referring business her way. GOOD JOB NILU, I'm exposing they way you really do business, I certainly hope that you lose that business from those who take the time to read this review since you deserve to be treated the way you treat others. SHAME ON YOU! ONLY IF THIS GETS RESOLVED:: Will I make changes to this review, I have tried in good faith each day to communicate with this business but I was only told and I quote message from my real estate agent: "but you can tell him (referring to me) that his sarcasm will get him everywhere.".... Obviously she meant that it won't get me anywhere however I expressed no sarcasm, actually I expressed my concerns since her web-site is broken and I simply asked her if all she would do is call us to gather the information she needed, it's that simple. As I said, I'm a fair person but if you are refusing to do your job and are holding up the opportunity for me and my family then I take it personal and I'll be happy to leave this review up and add in more details later. read more

Given the skyrocketing prices of homes in Southern California, my wife and I experienced trepidation with whether we could afford/qualify for a mortgage as first-time home buyers. We were encouraged to use Skyline by our Dilbeck realtors even after securing a loan through a national chain. What a mistake that turned out to be. Delinquent estimates, delinquent appraisal process, extremely poor communication, the list goes on. When they finally provided our loan docs for notary/signature 2 days prior to close of escrow, my wife's name was misspelled. Had to resign everything again the next day, but by then they missed their funding and wouldn't fund until day of closing. Careless. Sloppy. Unapologetic. Unprofessional. We were advised to use Skyline, who while not offering perhaps the best available rates, made up for that with this supposed premium service and access. Big mistake - go elsewhere! read more

This review was previously removed due to "privacy concerns", except that the two individuals I call out in this review are called out in other reviews on the site. Methinks this organization whined about my review. I worked with Joe "T" and Phillip "C" to get my CA house refinanced awhile back. The Good: Good with documents, e-signatures and all that for convenience. He's reasonably good about staying in touch. Joe had the knowledge of whatever secret handshake was required to get my 2nd mortgage subordinated. Subordinating means that I didn't have to pay off the 2nd, but that it just carried over when I refinanced. The Bad: I specifically asked Joe if I should get a rate lock and was told no. Well that little mistake has been costing me about $150 a month since. Telling me that he was sorry doesn't quite cut it. I was relying on expertise, not a shrug and a WAG. Also, I said their communication is pretty good, that is until they screw something up. Then things kind of go quiet. They would get zero stars, but Yelp doesn't let me give that and Joe "C" helped get the 2nd mortgage subordinated. I supposed that even a stopped clock is right twice a day. You're mileage may vary, but that's how mine went down. I'm not sure what these guys bring to the table that would justify the risk of another screw up. If I could do it again I would not have used these guys. read more

I worked with Joe Tishkoff and Philup Chu at Skyline Home Loans. I never expected such an amazing experience and overview of how mortgages work and the best way to strategize. Joe spent so much time with me explaining EVERYTHING. We did countless calculations and after diligently reviewing all my financials we decided to go with a primary 30 year fix mortgage followed by a secondary HELOC loan. By deciding to go with this method I am now saving thousands of dollars in taxes and not wasting away money through an unneeded mortgage insurance. I am guessing this method caused Joe much more work, but because it benefited me he put in the extra time and got me exactly what best fit my needs. I would recommend both Mr. Tishkoff and Mr. Chu to anyone who needs a mortgage. This review does not do the two of them justice, because I could write pages on how amazing my experience was from start to finish. I honestly can't think of one negative about these two. Quick responses to my emails and in depth answers to questions. We met a few days later and he took the time to help educate me on the realities of obtaining a loan. Josh clearly outlined the process, made us aware of all the pitfalls and options to position ourselves as the best buyer in any situation. Ultimately, his guidance was on the money, getting us into the house we wanted with minimal fuss. We were asked to cross qualify with Skyline to get our house. They gave us a SIGNIFICANTLY better deal than the other person was offering. We worked with Brian McKim & Shant who were personable, available, and wonderful. At the last moment, right before closing, the homeowner didn't do some of the termite work they'd agreed to do (and appeared to be doing), and on the day of closing, it looked like the escrow company was going to have to send the money back, creating a hassle for Skyline, where they would have to do extra work on the loan. Both Brian and Shant were AMAZING during this process. They were both very calm and supportive. I highly recommend them. read more

Had the worst experience with this company. They were always asking for documents at the last minute and then me and my husband were forced to rush around and get them what they needed. Our closing date was pushed back 2 weeks because of them. Its like, if this is what you do on a daily basis, how do you not have checklists of what you will need for each transaction?! They dropped the ball on more than one occasion. The only reason why we used them was because it was part of the seller's conditions in order for them to cover closing costs otherwise, we would have gone through someone else for sure. Getting a reverse mortgage through Sean Diaz was quite different from mortgage experiences we had decades ago. He was the exact opposite of what we had come to expect. Upon first meeting, we found him to be low key, honest, forthcoming, and very competent. Throughout our process, Sean anticipated issues and recommended resolutions that kept things moving steadily. He told us in advance what to do to keep the appraiser happy, and he had a decades old hiccup on our title record erased. We never dealt with anyone but Sean at Skyline; I suspected we might be handed off to someone in the office, but Sean was our exclusive contact every step of the way. He stayed in touch with us and told us when things would be happening; we never had to call him to find out what was going on. There are so many government protections built into the reverse mortgage process that a lot of paperwork is required; through it all, Sean was patient and maintained his sense of humor to keep us in our comfort zone. Our reverse mortgage has given us peace of mind that we can handle any health care issues that arise in the future - we owe Sean for giving us that assurance. We recommend him highly. read more

Joe Tishkoff is a miracle worker. Putting it simply. I started my process before meeting him with what I THOUGHT was just a simple refinance with Nationstar (look up that review). After going through what was a complete nightmare and having Nationstar even erroneously report a payment late I was finally introduced to Joe. He went so far and above what anyone had done in the year prior I cannot even say thank you enough. He helped me get the whole thing FINALLY straightened out and then persevered with a loan fraught with glitches that popped up along the way - from the city having the house wrong on the title - to wrong square footage listed - to homeowners insurance that the company did incorrectly on the house - to dealing with a borrower (me) who works from home for a company in Australia. With each incidence, he persevered - got it put to right and in the end successfully got my refinance finished. Add to that they make the process easy with online paperwork and docusign and great communication all the way through. And in the end for the "wet signing" he had someone out to my house on my crazy schedule through rain and traffic all to get the loan through as quickly as possible. And all of this done without drama or fanfare. If you need a great mortgage broker do yourself a favor - dont do the online - skip the hundred people blowing up your phone line to talk to you about your interest in a loan and just call Joe. He is truly the best and I will continue to recommend him online and by word of mouth to everyone I know. read more

Terrible service now, that Phillip Chu no longer working for Joe Tishkoff. I certainly did not get a loan I signed up for, with MCC program for first time buyers to get 20% credit back for tax purposes. This means lots of money and Mr. TIshkoff was all promises and no action. After 45 days of escrow and with 40% downpayment and 830 fico score this guy couldn't even close on time. His inactions and incompetence cost me an opportunity to ever get benefits as a first time buyer. Don't do business with this guy. He will wait until the last minute because he does not care and in the last hour tell you it's too late, after tons of lies and promises for 45 days. read more
