It seemed very well staffed which meant that I could easily ask for items I was looking for (so often in other shops it's impossible to find anyone to help!) It's very well stocked too and there is a large range of fresh, frozen, tinned and packet foods, plus newspapers and magazines, homewares, cleaning things everything you'd expect inside a good quality supermarket. Best of all were the friendly members of staff I encountered, especially the nice girl at the checkout and then the young man at the kiosk beside the door where I bought a newspaper as an afterthought. I'll definitely call in here again next time I'm in the area.

I then wandered down the main shopping street and noticed this shop. I have bought things in Bon Marche in different towns before and remembered that they usually have footwear in addition to clothes, so I went inside for a browse. I'm glad I did because I found a lovely comfy pair of slippers for £8. Many pairs were reduced in price and it's worth remembering that you can often get a good bargain here also in fashion. I like many of the clothes in Bon Marche (especially their trousers and jumpers) and will go back to look at their autumn range when it comes in before long.

They take clothes there for repairs and alterations and explained that, not only is the work always of the highest standard, but probably cheaper than anywhere else. What higher recommendation could you ever need?!! Almost needless to say, I took some clothes straight down to the shop (which you'll find just round the corner from 'Subway' through the door on the left and up the stairs) and left them (along with a deposit) with a friendly lady there. A few days later I went back to pick up the clothes, which were beautifully repaired, and to pay the balance of a few pounds. Certainly cheap for such professional work and I shall definitely return when I need any more sewing done!

Updating - I tried the cafe again, my husband and I had a bowl of soup each, I had to take it back it was inedible, like water with a bad taste in. We got a roll with sausage and bacon without any extra charge and were offered another drink (free refills but who's being fussy lol). The staff were understanding and we didn't get a single sigh, perhaps they knew how awful it was. The new rolls weren't that great though, the sausages had been deep fried and were almost black and the bacon was alright but the rolls were cheap doughy affairs. I didn't eat mine. We were in for around 25 minutes and not one table was cleared, and there were a lot of dirty ones, the staff had plenty of opportunities to do it. I did however get some fantastic bargains and managed to do a shopping for all 3 of us for £54, that included washing powder, fairy liquid and fairy dishwasher tablets, I can't fault the supermarket part.
