My first Brazilian BBQ experience and I'm hooked! My partner has raved about it since a Christmas party last year and I'm pleased to say my high expectations were not let down.
My first bite of pork shoulder was full of flavour, juicy and tender. The same can be said of the chicken thigh, melt-in-the-mouth smoked brisket, lamb leg with perfectly rendered fat, beef rump cap and hump... So much MEAT!
But let's not forget the sides. Golden, crunchy, salty chips and fried cassava. A sides platter with potato and egg salad (which I normally despise), salad, smokey black beans, house-made BBQ sauce and vinaigrette.
If I could share one piece of advice it would be to say yes to everything the first time. It is all you can eat and will keep coming until you are full so you can decline what you don't like later. For example, I'm a chorizo fan but didn't particularly enjoy theirs. The cheese balls were not to my taste either but the dreaded crumbed banana my partner warned me about was delicious. A bowl of those with ice-cream and I'd be set for winter. The BBQ pineapple was sweet and not over-spiced with cinnamon.
Finally a restaurant worthy of the Honeysuckle location. I only went last night and already want to return.
*A pet peeve though, room temperature Coke! Such a simple thing and yet so many places get it wrong. Stock drinks well before service and remember, first in first out. read more
