Stopped in without a reservation and was lucky to find they had one table open the entire evening, and I was promptly seated. (Note to self and others: make a reservation!). Enjoyed a beer and a nice ribeye with frites. Wonderful meal. Neat atmosphere. Very crowded space (looks like it could open up to the sidewalk in the summer--I was there early spring). I'm not about to tell you that Retour Steak serves up the best beef dishes in the world because in my opinion, they don't. One would have travel to Japan for the best steak (Sorry Nebraska). But I will tell you this, FOR THE PRICE nothing comes close to this place. We made it a point to check this place out and after a previous attempt the night before decided to come by earlier. We arrived around 5:45 and already the dining room was crazy busy. The hostess did however find one available table, but that they would need the table later for an 8:00 reservation. If you're taking notes. Make a reservation! Since we had well over two hours, we knew we could take our time and have a cocktail to start. Handwritten on the special drinks for the evening "sidecar". Hello?! Music to my ears. My friend and I each ordered up a sidecar and a charcuterie platter to start. The sidecars were perfect, and even though I usually have mine made with whisky I went with the flow and let them make mine with cognac. It was delicious. The charcuterie was a small serving but perfect to share. Each of the meats were amazing. I wish I knew what the darker meat was, because that one was truly out of this world kick ass delicious. Steak time! And there are plenty of choices. But really this would be a no brainer as I am a fan of this little thing called the French fry. And the ribeye comes with those crispy potato things. Ribeye "medium rare" please. I'll get right to the point. The steak was cooked to perfection. It came topped with a little rosemary and roasted garlic. The garlic was the winner and enhanced the steak even more. I even saved a few to eat along with my fries. By the way, these fries were about as good as I have had in a long ASS time. Almost as good as I had in Belgium (which by the way is the Hall of Fame of fries). I did save room for dessert and again, this was an easy choice. The profiteroles were shouting out my name. Again, they scored a perfect 10. We each had a glass of dessert wine, a moscato and a tawny port which both were amazing. I can't stress how much I loved this place. And again, the fact that this place is reasonably priced makes it that much better. It's not cheap mind you, but for a steakhouse it's about as inexpensive you will find. The service was impeccable and constantly had servers checking in on us. They were also very helpful when it came to our wine selections. Just FYI, if you are standing on Østergade street and can't find the place, it's actually located on Ny Østergade 21 which is a side street off the main street (running perpendicular).

Arrived at 7:45 and they were booked so decided to grab an IPA and Pork cracklings while waiting for a table at the bar. The Cracklings (Chicarron) were crispy and salted just right. The Fat Pig IPA paired well. I asked my server which starter to try and she recommended the Steak Tartare. The blend of fried capers, cress mayo, sweet & spicy peppers made for an exquisite dish. The Mixed side salad was also excellent! Decided to go with the burger as it was just the right portion (not huge) & many tables were ordering it. I asked for medium rare to medium. The burger came out and was medium well-done. I informed my server & said I was okay keeping it but they insisted on making another one. The second one was a perfect medium. So much better! This burger is about taste and quality ingredients (topped with vinegar pork, beer braised onions & dijonnaise to name a few..sign me up!)-perfect! Definitely one of the top burgers in the area. Will be back to try the steak. Great service and eats & a great carnivore find in Lund!

After waiting in the bar for about ten minutes (while watching mostly empty tables all around us - the place is big and spacious, but the house was nowhere near fully booked) we were seated at a standalone table right next to the waiter station - not at booth although most of these were empty and remained so for the rest of the evening. Sitting next to the waiters base camp gave us a unique insight into their busy schedule, which mostly consisted of talking to each other and some apparently very important guests (more important than us anyway). We were given a menu and a wine menu, our orders were taken, no wine suggestions were given, no bread was served, noone came to check up on us and ask if we were satisfied (which was probably for the best), our plates were removed, our check was brought to us, our money was removed from our credit card. Come on! I have had kinder and more dedicated service at my local gas station. Does "catering and tending to the needs of the guest who paid DKK 495 for a freeking piece of meat" mean absolutely NOTHING to you guys? I sure hope you don't have plans of opening for business in the US. Loving the meat, though. Hence the two stars. One must be fair.

Had it only been cocktails and steaks, it would have been five stars. However, their side orders are just too blunt and mediocre. The bearnaise was too sweet for my liking, it needed more acid. The pepper-sauce tasted like something out of a supermarket aisle. The fries were undercooked and not even worth it, they lacked crispiness. Did they double fry them? I don't think so, but for the price, they had to nail them. They didn't. The tossed salad was all right, really hard not to screw that one up. The Desserts were tasteful but WAAAY too large. I guess it's here that the "American" in the steakhouse comes into place. They were tasty and well made, however the sized of them was unnecessary and vulgar. In my world, a dessert is suppose top off your dining experience, not make you nauseatingly full from it. The service was really good and polite, they were very aware and helpful. 5 stars here. Come here for the steaks and the cocktails. But there's no need to fill up your order with expensive mediocre side-orders. It simply ain't worth it.

We started with an Eriksberg and the salad bar. Salad is included with the entree. A good variety of items from greens to cheese (Feta, Mozzarella), seasoned mushrooms, corn & peppers. A great way to start the meal. The garlic bread was excellent! For main, I ordered the No Bone T-Bone. A Filet/Tenderloin and Sirloin cut grilled separately. I asked for medium rare. The Tenderloin was amazing! On the other hand, the Sirloin was ok & came out closer to medium. Would order just the Tenderloin in the future. The Carnivore Classic (Burger) was also ordered and it was very good. The fries come with the entrees and we ordered the potatisgratang as an extra and the creamy potatoes were very good and definitely worth the 20 KR. For the main entree, could not pass the opportunity to have the world tour- steak from Canada, Denmark, and Japan. The server brings the steaks table side for selection before they cook them to desired temp. On e they are ready, they bring the steaks cooked back to the table to share amongst guest.
