I was referred to Noel by my Vet's office and I must say I was really impressed. She called me the night before to confirm my puppy's appointment. She explained the cost and the method of payment. When I came into the office, I was helped immediately. Noel was very friendly. I told her the cups of cut I wanted and she offered some recommendations as well. Yesterday (Oct. 27, 2011) I took my bichon frise to Meeka's Pet Grooming which recently opened in the Blue Bay Diner shopping center. It is located within the Rendezvous Beauty Salon. The owner/groomer is named Noelle. She is a lovely young woman with veterinary assistance experience. This salon features the convenience of both grooming for your dog and a hair salon for the dog pawrent within the same location if that is what you are looking for. The dog salon is small but fully equipped in the rear of the hair salon. The grooming area is immaculate. Noelle only grooms one dog at a time for individual attention. A very nice feature is that she asked me many questions regarding the dog, his health, any issues and preferences as to style, type of shampoo to use and whether or not to apply perfume or cologne. I was very happy that she asked me that as I had not thought about that in advance and my dog is very allergic to cologne. She asked if she could give him a treat which also was very good since my dog has food issues due to having inflammatory bowel disease. She also asked me to bring proof of rabies vaccine. She did a very nice job on my dog and listened to me, and groomed him to my specifications. I already set up my next appointment and will gladly refer her to my friends. Call her for pricing and scheduling. UPDATE: I took a chance and had my own hair done at the Rendezvous Hair Salon which is the main store front that you will see. So my dog and I got groomed at the same place! And let me tell you, I had a fabulous experience. The phone number is the same if you want to make an appointment for your own hair. Great little business. Thank you to Noelle and her patience with my Maine Coon. She did a great job and took great care of our 4 year old Maine Coon. Cats aren't a favorite among groomers and many groomers won't deal with them. Noelle has the right mind and attitude to work with these animals and is very professional. She clearly asks all the right questions and asks for rabies vaccine proof. Her work area is exceptionally clean and she has everything she needs. People comment on it being small, but I've dealt with smaller shops or even the vans that come to your home to wash/cut your dog. Do not go here for a haircut. Cannot be trusted with your animals. They injured my dog by cutting his eyelid and then denied it. He had to go to the vet once already, we have to go back for another appointment over the weekend. He cannot open his right eye and he is in a lot of pain from this. I am very upset because they hurt my dog and would not take any responsibility for it, in fact they denied it. They also put cologne on the dogs which is inhuman and weird. Do not use this groomer for the sake of your pets. read more

I brought my new maltese pup here for a desperately needed full grooming, since another groomer we had booked with had to cancel the appointment the same day. Although it was a last minute booking, meeka's accomodated to our schedule. The sweet lady/owner made us feel very comfortable with leaving our little pup there, and specifically asked what we wanted and what kind of style, even suggested things based on our pups condition. She was very informative and clear on what kind of style and cut was to be done so there was no misunderstanding. She took great care of our very matted pup and did a fabulous job!!! Our little doggy looked so happy and more comfortable with his new do. He looked like a completely different dog, but even cuter! My cat and I had a great experience! We wanted to avoid the lion cut that is typically given to cats at grooming places, and they worked with us to get a very respectable, clean and beautiful haircut, while also getting rid of hair mats which was the main reason we needed the cut. When i came to pick up my cat, they weren't done yet, and I peeked in and saw my cat just chilling while she was getting her fur blow-dried. (Note: she is a Ragdoll, so that definitely makes a difference, but the staff is SO sweet and caring, so I was very happy to see how peaceful the experience was). I brought my Beagle and Corgi in today for their second grooming. Noel is such a fantastic groomer. Both dogs hate getting their nails cut. She is so patient and kind with them. My Corgi has skin allergies so she uses hypoallergenic shampoo and she also takes her time with deshedding him. He has a tendency to shed a lot. The fact that Noel has experience in the veterinary field is a huge plus. I can count on her to be candid with me if she finds anything that I should get checked out with my vet. She understands more than the typical groomer and I wouldn't trust my dogs with anyone else. I also bought some boots from there for my dogs for the snow. Noel is a huge animal lover with a big heart and I am so thankful for how good she is to my babies. Also- her prices are fantastic as she goes the extra mile with my dogs. I love the service and wonderful grooming services. It's a small doggy grooming salon within a human hair salon, it's okay you don't have to get a haircut, just walk straight to the back area to check in your doggies for a grooming. The lady that grooms them is sweet, patient and very professional. I've taken my siberian Husky, she's 60lbs and my collie mutt, she's 30lbs. I've been to two grooming places before Meekas, Doggy Doggy and Petco. Doggy Doggy did a good job but they were rough with my baby. So rough that she got ringworms near her private area. No. Then I took her to Petco. Nothing too amazing. Didn't cut the face area, and it wasn't as clean looking as I had wished having just paid 70 dollars for it. A year later, I find Meekas Pet Grooming.This by FAR is the BEST BEST BEST place ever to bring your dog. I have a 7 pound maltese dog who is my BABY, and I did extensive research to make sure I chose a reputable place. When I first got to the place, it looked pretty sketchy because they share the space with a hair salon, but don't be scared. Noel is amazing. First time I came here, I would've given a 5 star review... I actually moved from queens to the bronx and decided to bring my dog back here a second time because they had earned my trust. Wow big mistake! When I picked up my dog she was shaking on the table, this is VERY unlike her as she is so friendly and outgoing and just.. Happy! The groomer told me "you should be cutting her dewclaws more often, they were long and you have to be careful".. I asked if there was an issue and she denied any, then I spotted it... The blood all over my dogs white fur. I pointed it out and she told me it was from the quick of my dogs nail (she has long quicks), she put some antiseptic on it and I paid AND tipped her and left. I brought my dog home and she was sad, moping around and just not happy still, I picked her up and started examining her, the groomer had shaved my dog (which I requested), but in the interim, caught my dogs dewclaw and pulled it out from the root. They declawed my dog!!!!! OUTRAGEOUS!!!! read more

I searched for a groomer online and came across Meeka's Pet Grooming. Based on the excellent reviews, I decided to call them. Noel was very nice and understanding when I called to make the appointment. I explained that I needed a dog with special needs to be groomed. (The dog is blind and deaf.) She assured me that would not be a problem. She told me she would require a copy of the dog's rabies certificate. (Completely understandable.) My appointment was at 12:00pm. I left the dog with Noel and around 2:30pm I received a call saying the dog was ready for pick-up. When I arrived, the dog looked and smelled great. They even put a cute bandana around the dog's neck.. The hair was cut short all around and there were no visible nicks or cuts. The nails were trimmed. The rates are reasonable, $65 - $70. The pet grooming is located in the back of a beauty parlor in a shopping mall. I will definitely bring the dog back the next time it needs to be groomed. read more
