Best. Doctor. Ever…read more I've been seeing her for 6 years now, and I don't have anything negative to say about Dr. Nguyen. I go see her a few times a year for various reasons, and I always come away thinking that I have the best doctor in the world. She remembers things I've told her about my life from like 5 years ago! She's warm, compassionate, very intelligent, and makes me feel like I'm her only patient when I'm there. There is never a hesitation to have any kind of test done that she thinks I might need or to refer me to a specialist. I know she's busy, but I can also always get an appointment either that day or the next day. Today I called her at 11:30 and saw her at 3. She's a family practice doctor, so she sees people of all ages, so I'll be sticking with her for hopefully a very long time. I live in San Francisco, and still drive out to Pleasant Hill to see her...she's definitely well worth the drive.

All of the previous 1 star reviews are completely true and valid!…read more I am writing this review on behalf of my brother who has a slight mental disability. Dave has been a patient of Dr Harpole for 10 years and has always expressed to me how rude the lady at the desk was but I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. In the past Dave was diagnosed as Pre-diabetic and has both diabetes and heart disease in the family. Blood work was done two months ago and because of Daves work schedule and the Dr's shortened hours, he was just now able to schedule the bloodwork review. Going in, Dave had mentioned that he had seen a urologist regarding a prostate issue and was scheduled for a procedure to recify the problem. Dr Harpole discussed the prostate problem and then an audible "buzzer" went off signaling the end of the appointment! Dr Harpole not only rushed him out of the office but refused to even address the 2 month old blood work telling him he now needed to make yet another appointment to go over them!!! When he asked Sandra at the desk she refused to even give him any copies until Dr Harpole "released" them. The Dr did manage to litterally scribble on a piece of paper a couple of notes regarding the results and all we could make out was "borderline diabetic." Daves father passed due to complications from diabetes and Dr Harpole is well aware of this! I then made a call to Sandra asking what had happened and she told me she could not release anything without the Dr's approval even though that's what the appointment was scheduled for in the first place. The prostate issue was completely taken care of and under control. Here's the whole crux of the experience...Dave's urologist whom he had only met one time actually took the time to call me from HER HOME and spend 20 minutes talking to me to find out more about Dave because she's a doctor who CARES and is in practice for all the right reasons. I remember delivering UPS to Dr Harpole back in 1981 and thinking it's probably time to retire since there seems to be an obvious burn out issue here. I will also be contacting John Muir and the Medical board regarding his practice. Please don't waste your time or money dealing with this business and hopefully this will save at least one person the experience. Thanks for reading...

I called my insurance and American Board of Medical and file complain again this office, both said: that's not right for them to over charge you for office visit copay, they were surprised by Dr Patrick Harpole office behavior. ******PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR'S OFFICE BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY, NOT WORTH IT, TOTAL WAIST OF TIME******

Dr. Chow-Kwan really takes the time to listen to you, asks excellent questions relating to your visit and is an all around great person and great Doctor. One of my favorite traits of Dr. Chow-Kwan is that she will not just refer to you to a specialist for a strange problem. Both my wife and I have had some strange, one-off (non-chronic) medical issues that Dr. Chow-Kwan has taken a keen interest in and treated wonderfully. I feel very comfortable with her care, methodology and experience. When Dr. Chow-Kwan is not there, you can feel comfortable seeing any of the other Doctors in the practice. They are all great and in the same league with Dr. Chow-Kwan. The office is always well staffed, works out digital prescriptions with you favorite pharmacy, is courteous and will work with you to get you in if you are sick. Oh, and one other thing, I have never had a Doctor call me after a trip to the ER until I joined Dr. Chow-Kwan's practice. I seem to end up in the ER more often then the average (but again, for one-off strange items!) and when Dr. Chow-Kwan called me to follow up, I was blow away. I highly recommend Dr. Chow-Kwan and would be happy to talk more with anyone considering a great Family Practice and Internal Medicine Doctor off line. Just drop me a note!

Coming from a country where you walk into your family doctor's office and would be seen in 20 minutes, figuring out how to utilise my medical insurance was a challenge, but it was all worth it because I found Dr. Threewitt. She was extremely kind and informative, very good at giving information according to the patient's background--after I told her I took psychophysiology in college, she began talking about the quit-smoking drugs in a way that is more technically satisfying and therefore time consuming than I expected a hurried and busy American doctor would be willing to do. The staff was wonderful. As mentioned before, I am completely, actually PAINFULLY, ignorant of the American medical system. I was full of exceedingly strange questions and was dumbfounded when they were answered. Whenever the nurse returned, I'd ask the poor dear sweet girl about the forms, "what exactly are they asking me in this legally correct but logically contradictory sentence?" Never once did she frowned at me or threaten to kicked me out of the office. Bless her. Another thing that I found very wonderful is that the office was willing to work with my time line (the internship did not leave me months to wait for an available appointment).

Over the 10 years, she has been nothing but helpful, informative and always willing to sit and explain things to me in detail or answer any questions I have! She has always referred me to the right doctors, if a specialist is needed, and they've always been great referrals; I trust her COMPLETELY with my health and body. To address the person who accused her of being a pill pusher- I realize that review was posted back in 2011, but even back then, that comment is so far from the truth! I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve and fairly severe arthritis in my back in 2006. Dr. Threewitt, before even offering any type of pain prescription, pushed me to go to physical therapy and also gave me exercises to do at home to help alleviate the pain. As the years passed, the physical therapy was not helping as much and I REQUESTED that some sort of pain medication be prescribed to me to help me get through my day or sleep better at night. Even when I requested this, she still tried to suggest other options other than prescription drugs, she expressed to me her concerns about addiction and the damage that prescription pain pills could do to my internal organs. She really did everything in her power to keep me from using prescription meds for my back. So, I know first hand, she is NOT a pill pusher in any way. I absolutely love her, I feel like she's a part of my extended family, I am always happy to see her and never feel embarrassed to ask any questions, I feel more comfortable with her than any doctor I have ever been to and would recommend her to anyone who asked for a referral to a fantastic doctor!
