After multiple medical errors over the years by other doctors, that many doctors refused to properly document, she took the effort to review my records and provide the most accurate medical record that I have had since the first error in 2010- proving to be the most ethical doctor I have ever interacted with. It takes a special person to stand up against the flow in medical systems. She is that type of person. The type that would stand up and say that is wrong. Ethical enough not to work for system that were no aligned with her ethical integrity. A very rare find. She even found the root cause of the of the issues that were missed for years along with doing a very thorough GI work up-greatly improving symptoms and lessening risk damaging other organs. Noting that I have been going to a Functional Medicine GI doctor and did not have such a thorough GI work up. I wish her the best and hope that everything is ok with her. We are not sure why she ended up closing her practice, I hope everything is good, but rating her closing her practice is not rating her as the excellent doctor she is. I wish that someone as smart and ethical as her would be filling the space-but that isn't happening-sadly.

I started seeing Dr. Michaud last year after my former FNP (and awful GI doc) ignored some serious symptoms. She has a great bedside manner, is smart, proactive, and thinks outside of the box. She even came up with possible diagnoses other specialists missed. Although we never figured out the cause, she took EVERYTHING I told her VERY seriously. As a veteran patient, I cannot count how many doctors downplay or ignore serious symptoms. Dr. Michaud not only does the opposite of those doctors but should also teach other doctors how to take their patients' concerns seriously. I was able to get in the following week after scheduling as a new patient and never had difficulty getting appointments. Her receptionist, Annabelle, and her MA, Rachel are friendly and helpful. I wish I found her sooner and had more time to be her patient. Thanks Dr. Michaud for listening to me and helping me as well as serving as an example for the care I hope to provide my patients as a family physician one day!

I had an urgent issue that couldn't wait and Dr. Chhaganlal was able to see me sooner. Great bedside manner, knowledgeable, responsive to messages, and doesn't overprescribe or order unnecessary tests. Even though I only see her a few times a year, she remembers info we've discussed at previous visits (even my applying to med school!). I really like when my doctors know me as a person and not just a chart. She also gives good recommendations, even if she isn't the one to treat me herself. Though she isn't sure if the cause of an ongoing rash on legs I've had for months, she recommended seeing an allergist because all of the allergies in my chart result in rashes or hives (I suspected it was allergy related for that reason). She sent the referral during my appointment (though I have a PPO plan) and I was able to get an appointment with an allergy PA in a few weeks. Hopefully the derm PA or allergy PA can figure out the cause! The staff is friendly, efficient, and responsive. They always respond to my messages for appointments in prescriptions the same or next day. As someone who prefers female providers, I love that all of the providers in this office are women!

I had the same MD from the Alta Bates Medical Group for years, and that annual appointment was mostly a relaxed update on what was going on with my life (with an age 50 Exam in between). Over here in the WC and like Gayle, I wanted a Doctor who was affiliated with John Muir. And thanks to that list and very positive Yelp reviews, I decided to give Dr. Julia Hohman a try. From the get go, Dr. Hohman has been both collaborative and blunt regarding my state of health. The key messages I received were that my weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol needed improvement, and with a few B Vitamin shots thrown in for good measure. Gayle actually thinks that I'm in great shape, but the soft power of Dr. Hohman got my attention. Since the first appointment, I've dropped 7 pounds, given up donuts in the AM, worked along the edges of other food choices (like burgers and cheese), and have recommitted to my exercise regimen. And despite our honeymoon trip to Portugal, great food in Holland and Louisiana, and various Holiday goodies, things have been going very well (and without a Lipitor or similar prescription). My next appointment is in 6 months and it's still a long way to the top, if I'm going to rock and roll....But under Dr. Hohman's guidance (and despite my love of cheese), I'm cautiously optimistic.

It made a very stressful situation so much easier knowing I was in such capable hands. I especially want to recognize Dani for going so far above and beyond with the billing support. She put in so much extra work behind the scenes, and I truly appreciate all the time, patience, and dedication she and Ginger gave to helping resolve everything. My medical care truly could not have happened without their support, and it has been life-changing for me. A huge thank you as well to Sarah for making sure we were scheduled for the procedure and helping everything come together smoothly and on time. Her help made the entire process seamless. I was told this was necessary because the employee who booked my appointment had been terminated, and there was no documentation in my chart. I clearly explained at that time why I was seeking care and specifically asked the receptionist to verify my insurance eligibility to ensure I could see the physician. When I arrived for my appointment, I was informed that it had been scheduled incorrectly. After waiting approximately 20 minutes, I was told I needed to contact my insurance company to obtain my physical insurance card information. While I was on the phone with my insurance provider, the doctor briefly came to the front desk area. At the time, it appeared to be a casual interaction with staff, but given the circumstances, it seemed possible she had been informed that my insurance information had not been properly collected by the former receptionist. Once I provided the required insurance details, I was finally taken to an exam room by a medical assistant. As I sat down, the staff member commented that the doctor was not friendly and could be rude and abrupt. My blood pressure was taken and measured at 140/103, which is elevated. The assistant stated she would not inform the doctor and would instead retake it because she did not want to "go there" with her. When retaken, I was told it was still high. The staff member asked additional questions and mentioned I would see her again after the doctor completed the examination. However, just two minutes later, she returned to inform me that the doctor had left and would not be seeing me that day. I was asked if I would like to reschedule. Although I remained composed and declined, I left the office in tears, feeling defeated and deeply disappointed. It is difficult to understand how someone seeking medical care could be treated in this manner. I will be contacting patient relations, and I felt it was important to share this experience here as well.

I met with Dr. Jacobs on December 12 to go over the changes so we could get the ball rolling and not have a delay in my immune treatment which I require every 3 weeks to stay healthy due to a serious immune disorder. He assured me that it would be handled well. Then almost month later I call back and find out nothing has been done. The office didn't have a new script from the Dr. The contract worker they had hired to deal with insurance benefits at the office still didn't know I had a new pharmacy benefits provider. She was trying to order the old medication from the old benefits provider. So I spent the next two weeks on the phone for entire days - leaving messages, waiting on hold, coordinating between nursing staff (bc the dr was now on vacation), the independent contractor who didn't understand my insurance change, my pharmacy benefits provider and the pharmacy filing the order. Babysitting grown adults who are getting paid to apparently not do their jobs. The office at first admitted to dropping the ball, then they each slowly started to blame other people in the office and I realized what a toxic dysfunctional mess the whole operation was. Perhaps they once were good - the vast majority of these five star reviews are many years old. Today, I think they can handle routine allergy shots. That's their bread and butter. Anything more is a deep stretch for their abilities. In the end I finally got my medication two weeks late and it would have been even later if I hadn't borrowed a medical pump to use from a complete stranger. This was an incredibly stressful process that would have been avoided if people at this office understood how to do their jobs.
