Took my doctor several weeks to get all the referrals set up for a procedure. Then as a chronic ill patient I had to get clearance from my medical team prior, which took several weeks and multiple trips. Arrived day of the procedure & checked in and paid my copay, then 15 minutes prior to my procedure I was called in to the hallway where they wanted me to pay additional money. As it seems they discriminate against people who's been injured in an accident. Even though you have insurance to cover the procedure, they refuse to accept it, even after the insurance company has pre authorized the procedure, seems they want you to pay the full cost, instead of accepting what insurance company is contracted to pay. They wasted weeks of my time, and put me at severe risk being off my medication to only refuse to allow me yo undo my scheduled procedure with my orthopedic surgeon, because they wanted more money for the operating room costs. I will never use this facility under any circumstance, and have retained legal counsel to represent me in a discrimination case in this matter, to hopefully hold them accountable, to ensure that nobody else has to endure the same discrimination or abuse this organization put me through. My doctor & legal counsel even contacted them the morning of this incident, and was told that's their corporate policy, but somehow they failed to provide me or my doctors any information regarding this policy, so they could have scheduled me at another operating room location, which accepted BCBS of Alabama, and don't discriminate against you because you're an accident victim! I'm going to post this information on our Ministry page & will be updating on our website, as well I will be doing a special podcast to our Ministry viewers, to help bring awareness to many who are unaware, or who have experienced this type of abuse by this organization. Sincerely, Pastor Dan H. read more
