We found this absolute gem in town after seeing it rated so highly for gluten-free options--and it completely lived up to the hype! In fact, we loved it so much that we ate here two nights in a row. It is a very popular, busy spot, so expect a bit of a wait (we had one both nights), and service can be a little slow since there are only a couple of servers handling a huge crowd. However, any patience required is completely worth it because the staff and food are phenomenal. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and fantastic. On our first night, when I asked if they had an Aperol Spritz (they don't), he went above and beyond and made me a custom wine spritzer with Moscato wine instead. For appetizers, we shared the spinach and artichoke dip with gluten-free pita, which was delicious. For my main, I built my own pasta bowl with gluten-free pasta, creamy tomato sauce, and broccoli--it was so good that we told him we'd be back. And we definitely did! Tonight, I requested the same server, and incredibly, he remembered us. He checked in to ask if I wanted the same wine spritzer or if I wanted to try the pear cider--I ended up getting both, and the drinks here are so good. This time, I ordered the gluten-free pizza. He recommended the Margherita, and boy, was he right. It is easily one of the best gluten-free pizzas I've ever had. We had an amazing experience both nights. Stopped here for a quick bite while staying in town to camp for the weekend. Immediately I was intrigued by the diversity of the menu; they had a wide range of Mediterranean cuisines and all looked delicious. The interior was quant and personal, with the walls covered with old celebrities, European landmarks, and historical events that give it a storied feel. The service was very inviting; we got there 40 min before close (I know I'd hate me too) and they were just as kind as could be. I ended up trying the chicken soup of the day and their crab stuffed cannelloni, which were both pretty good. My only note for not giving 5/5 was I didn't taste any crab in the dish I got, just lots of cheesy goodness (which was still delicious). Definitely a hidden gem that is worth the stop! read more

It's Worthy! We stopped for lunch driving through town. I'm glad we did. We had the Bruschetta: diced tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, a nice balsamic glaze on garlic toast. Yum! I had the Mediterranean salad with chicken. Juicy delicious chicken with fresh romaine, tomatoes, cherry peppers, red cabbage, Kalamata olives and a great dressing. Yum again! My son had the Mediterranean gyro. Lamb & beef piled high on a pita with tzatziki, hummus, red onion, lettuce, jalapeño and feta. He said is was one of the best gyros he's ever had. It's all reasonably priced, the options are amazing, and truly it's a good meal every time! Came here in mid September around 5 on a rainy weekday. Decor is warm with lots of dark wood and Italian restaurant wall decor. Service was OK, quite leisurely considering it was not yet dinner rush time. I ordered the day's soup - mushroom - and a gyro. The soup was inedibly salty with OK flavor, and I sent it back. The gyro just didn't taste very good or have good texture. I got beef+lamb and the meat was very dry. The tzatziki sauce (I got extra) was very pasty and was mostly greek yogurt with little texture or vegetal flavor, and there were these unpleasant fried crispy vegetables in the sandwich I picked out. My wife got the 6 cheese pasta - the sauce was OK but the tortellini were extremely thick. She liked it but the texture was way off to me. I suspect that they pre-make things like gyro meat and pasta ahead of time and reheat stuff, which would explain the poor quality. And the tzatziki made me wonder that they have any idea what they're doing. The prices are actually pretty good, except that everything is a side (example, garlic bread is extra with pasta) so sides you'd expect have to be added on. The preparation and flavors need a major upgrade. I would've preferred a plain burger, assuming that they don't cut corners on that, too. Avoid the place, or order something simple like fries that don't demand technique. read more

Craving anchovies so I ordered Caesar salad (which they make to perfection) and a pizza with anchovies as 1 of the ingredients. Fast forward to 25 minutes later, after the carry out girl spent 15 minutes talking to the table next to me and she returns to say no anchovies, "people don't order them" - I asked if they could sub spinach. Um, she didn't know. Would have to ask. Meanwhile, table next to me (arrived later btw) received their food. None of this would have been an issue if carry out girl seemed to gaf. His Alfredo sauce was on the runny side and not very flavorful. I had the seafood manicotti. It was very cheesy and heavy, but it had good flavor. I would order it again. The salads were good with tomato and cheese, although I was disappointed there were no croutons. The blue cheese dressing didn't really taste like blue cheese, but it was good. In town overnight for work. Passed by this place on the way to the hotel. Checked out the Yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. OMG! This place is DELICIOUS and some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Let's not forget our server Paul. He is such a gem. Very personable and attentive. You can tell he has a great love and appreciation for everything they do here. Just about EVERYTHING is made in house and you can definitely tell by the taste. We stopped here before catching a show at the Murphy theater in Wilmington. It had been on our list of things to try for a long while. A Mediterranean restaurant in this neck of the woods is unique and we were excited to hear about a restaurant that was serving something different near my husbands home town. What went well - we were seated quickly even though they were pretty busy. The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious. What went poorly- Unfortunately just about everything else. I wanted to love this place. I really did. Everything about it (other than the dip) fell pretty flat for me. To start with the name is Mediterranean but it's really just an Italian restaurant with gyros on the menu. Ok, ok... Italy is in the Mediterranean but I expected a little more than pasta and pizza. I got the French onion soup (too much sherry flavor, not enough beef flavor) and the Greek salad. The salad was just a bed of lettuce with generic deli ham, pepperoni, a few olives and some feta. The dressing was pretty good. My husband got the muffuletta - it was what I should have expected out of a muffuletta in Wilmington - a subpar sub with generic deli ham, salami and some ok olive spread. The service was less than stellar but not awful. The waiter was nice but a little forgetful. This place has so much potential! The area in Wilmington is cute - fun to walk around, see a concert at the Murphy and grab a few drinks in the area. I would love to see the Mediterranean update their selections with some authentic meat and cheese selections. I feel like they had a great idea but then thought they had to temper down the flavors to match what's already in the area or what they thought would appeal to the current local taste levels. Nothing here was inedible but nothing was great. There are tons of people in the area that would love something refreshing and different without driving to Cincinnati - but this place isn't it right now. I will say I am very picky about Italian food- I grew up in an area teeming with Italian American families that know how to cook and was never more than a stones throw away from a restaurant making some mean authentic sauce and all the Italian foods you could dream of. This small downtown restaurant has an Italian focused menu with some greek favorites. Beer and wine at nice prices. Our group had lasagna, seafood pasta, sausage and shimp pasta and penna parma rosa.
