These folks took me under their wings at the most vulnerable point of my life, during cancer treatment and recovery. The compassion and understanding of these gals, front desk and nurses, is incredible. If you're in the crappy position (pun intended) and forced to use a prosthesis for an ostomy, this is the place to come for help and supplies. It's the only ostomy centre / center in North America. I don't care where you live in the Lower Mainland, you have to support this business that does so much for the community. Live in Vancouver, get your butt on the SkyTrain and take it the 22nd Street Station, and then walk an easy block to the clinic. Appointments are free (as many as you want) with several well-versed ostomy nurses. These nurses are the ones that get you through the many challenging days following a new stoma. If you have to crawl to this place after your surgery, do so. No one is immune to the emotional challenges an ostomy brings, especially from cancer. My appointments were never rushed and I was able to get a lot off my chest. I had to wean myself from the nurses' help because of holiday travel, but they never pressured me to not make future appointments. If you aren't able to travel to New West, I know they'll help you over the phone and they ship their supplies province-wide.

If you don't believe in one-size-fits-all care, you'd be at the good place. Tony and his small crew…read moreof very competent co workers will always go the extra 1.6 Kms not to let you down. Every clinic will tag themselves "patient-centered", but Awards really it. I can say I learned enough to be a lot more independent, through time they invested in teaching me. The wait times are short, and the service is very professional. I highly recommend.

I have had two pairs of the FASTR folding crutches. I originally got them because they are light…read moreand because when I travel out of the US I like to use one and carry one folded, either in my checked luggage--or in a child's snowshoe bag, as my carry-on. I actually use either one or two all the time now depending on my current mobility--it says they're not for full time use, but I have found them okay--I weigh 135 lbs and load onto the right one quite a bit (so I make them interchangeable, no ergonomic grips) but I am walking with both feet. Email/phone service is also great. Right I am struggling with putting on silicon hand grips, but that's a small price to pay. I first got them in 2008 then again 2017 because the first pair got worn out; I keep an old one in the car trunk for rough ground, and one next to my bed for maneuvering at night.

With that in the back of my mind I was nervous going to Nightingale to get a compression bra prior to surgery. Nervous enough as it was. What a pleasant surprise. Very professional, cheerful and delightful to deal with. From Cindy who took my call to Sylvia who did the fitting and gave me a big hug when I left. I cannot say enough great things about this place. Any surgery is enough to make a person jumpy but these people are amazing and very, very helpful.

But she said I needed a toe wedge because my big toe was slinking to one side. She gave me a little wedge and told me to wear it. I said, " wouldn;t it fall out when I walk?" She told me my shoe would keep it in. I explained that I am a retired senior and am barefoot 75 percent of the day. So she said I should get one that straps on. But they were not of stock. She said they should be in in 2 weeks. 3 weeks later they called and said they still were not there but they have them in Oshawa. I asked her to have one (or a few) transferred and they could not do that. So 3 more weks, went by and they said, our location just got 8 in stock. I asked her to hld one for me as I do not live around the corner and dont know when I could be there. she said they cannot do that. WHAT?!?@!?!?! I just spent 600 dollars and you cannot hold an 18 dollar item for a couple weeks? nope she said. So I just said"thank you for the call" That is terrible service and guess what.
