I have been prescribed graduated compression stockings for venous insufficiency for over 20 years. The Canada Revenue Agency considered prescribed graduated compression stockings as tax exempt when a written order from a medical practitioner is supplied. In British Columbia, prescribed compression stockings are typically tax exempt, meaning that they are not subject to Provincial Sales Tax. When I bought my prescribed Sigvaris Compression stockings with a copy of my prescription at my local Pharmacy, I did not have to pay GST or PST but not at Paris EveryBODY!! Their billing system charges PST for prescribed compression stockings!! When I called them to question their error, I was advised that I can claim my PST charges myself from CRA!! I am NOT IMPRESSED with PARIS everyBODY's service model. One has to pay for tax exempted items at the retail store at the store's convenience so one can claim the tax charges next year!! Since I had already ordered 3 custom prescribed Sigvaris compression stockings, I did not have the choice to refuse my ordered items. So I ended up paying PST for all 3 items!! If I had this information prior to my order, I would not have ordered SIgvaris compression stockings from Paris everyBODY!!!!! read more

If you've ever had an old dog or an aging parent, you know that stage: the stage where you watch them gradually slow down, dragging their feet or limping, until you have to wonder how many good years they have left. In the case of your dog, it may even be time to visit the Granville Island Veterinary Clinic, where a kind veterinarian will let you hold Spot's paw as he is ushered into the Elysian Fields. In the case of your aging parent, however, you just need to visit Paris Orthotics. I've been an Paris Orthotics customer -- or is it patient? -- for many years, and have had several pairs of long-lasting orthotics that keep my middle-aged feet and knees working happily. When I got ambitious enough to start snowboarding, a Paris Orthotics staffer even spent an hour with me, adjusting the way my orthotics sat in my snowboarding boots, so that I could enjoy my new sport pain-free. So when my aging but still active mother moved to Vancouver, I knew that there was only one spot that would keep her -- as a longtime orthotics evangelist -- in working order. She's relied on Paris Orthotics for the better part of a decade, getting her orthotics adjusted as her feet, knees and hips have aged, so that she's been able to keep up her two-hour-a-day walking regime even though she's now 78. But what really put the Paris team to the test was when my mom hit her first real mobility impairment. After an uncharacteristically snowy winter, my mom developed significant knee pain, stemming from the way she'd shuffled across icy sidewalks. She worked her way across the city, seeing doctors, arthritis specialists, pilates teachers, massage therapists and physical therapists. She saw some improvements...but she still relied on a cane to get around. Then she checked in with Martha Paris, who met with her several times in order to evaluate her gait and find out exactly where the pain was occurring. She adjusted my mom's orthotics and got her to switch to a lighter pair of shoes. Now, a month later, my mom is back on her feet -- and walking cane-free! Thanks to Paris Orthotics, I can see that my mom has many good, mobile years ahead of her. I'm celebrating by taking her to the park so she can chase a frisbee. read more

I was fit for orthotics here last year and have returned a few times for minor adjustments / repairs. Other than the initial cost, they have not charged me for any adjustments and have been helpful along they way. Having also recently been fit for a lesser set of orthotics, I can say Paris knows their business, and sets a high standard. They are busy and they book appointments a few days to a week in advance. read more

My previous orthotics from 4-5 years ago had basically disintegrated, so my doctor recommended that I go to Paris to get fitted for replacements. (As it turned out, my old ones, which had served me very well, were also from the same company in Ottawa.) My podiatrist was extremely knowledgeable and did a fantastic job. She had tons of great knowledge and advice that went beyond strictly the orthotics and was able to share her insight as a fellow runner. She also urged me to come back if I had any issues at all. Overall, the staff are very customer-service oriented and know exactly what is needed for the insurance paperwork, etc. I was very impressed and will return when I need replacement orthotics in the future. read more

I've been an orthodics wearer for over 10 years now and have had 5 pairs made during that time. I went to Paris after moving to Vancouver and at the recommendation of a coworker. I had an amazing experience with the staff and the process. They absolutely know what they are talking about. Martha was extremely friendly and taught me a lot about orthodics that I didn't know after 10 years. She took the time to get to know me and the type of activity I was going to do with my orthodics and recommended the best type. They arrive about a week later and she cut them down to fit perfectly in my shoes. As Orthodics are covered by my insurance, they gave me the proper paperwork to file for the claim and everything went as expected. They also have a wide range of different products for various needs, as a person who also tore his PCL they have a great deal of things that can be helpful. I would absolutely recommend Paris Orthodics. read more

I've been a client of Paris Orthotics for 30 years or so. My children and grandchildren also come here for advice, braces and orthotics. The service is always impeccable. They will work with you until you're as comfortable as possible. Without these people I would be in too much pain to walk so, without exaggeration, their help has been life-changing. Martha, and Paris Orthotics, have earned the respect of the local medical community; I've had many doctors and physios recommend them to me. If you're having trouble walking this is the best place to go. You can rely on their advice - they won't try to sell you something you don't need. read more

I went for a knee brace. Two stores. UBC Kinetics grad working there was helpful in me selecting the right one. There could have been a more inventory, but I went away happy, and with the assurance that they will work with me until I get this right. 4th ave store is one door in from the corner, the other is with Rackets and Runners in strip mall read more

I have had ongoing issues with my feet and knees for years. I've seen two reputable podiatrists & have not been satisfied each time (in a 20 year period). I finally saw Dr. Lloyd-Smith up at UBC who recommended Martha at Paris Orthotics. Honestly, seeing her has been somewhat life changing for me. My podiatrist said I would have to live with Morton's neuroma & prescribed orthotics that after 2 years just were never comfortable. When I went to Paris for my first appointment with Martha, I completely assumed I would be getting a new pair of orthotics. However, she took a look at them & said they were in good enough shape & she altered them. Holy cow, so great. I had to go in a 2nd time as they weren't completely perfect, and she made the adjustment no charge. Altogether completely satisfied. All the other staff each time I've come in are also very friendly and helpful. I told Martha today that the next time I need orthotics, I'm definitely coming in to see her again...bye bye unfriendly unhelpful podiatrists. read more

Never walked into the store, however, had a night splint that was ordered for me and delivered (pick up) for under $60 which is the cheapest in the city. I will come back when I get my new shoes as I will need some orthopedics. read more

I've now ordered 3 pairs of orthotics over the past few years here, and have been very happy with the product and service. Martha especially, who also co-owns it, is fabulous. She's knowledgeable and really makes an effort to figure out the best approach to your issue, plus personable. There's a great deal if you buy 2 pairs simultaneously, so be sure to take advantage of that if you can. Sadly, I lost one orthotic the very first time I owned them so having that 2nd pair can accommodate for mishaps like that. Staff is very cheery, and it seems like that company culture is important which helps the entire experience when dealing with foot problems. Great place to go: trustworthy expertise, reliable, fair prices, friendly. read more

I have been wearing orthotics for over 20 years. Recently I was in need of a new pair and checked out Paris Orthotics. My experience there was first rate. Everyone on staff is pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Ask to speak to Martha Paris for a thorough assessment of your foot care needs. read more

These guys are wonderful! So pleasant to deal with on the phone and in office. Even watching the staff help older clientele shop for braces/insoles they were so patient and friendly. Chris went out of his way to make adjustments to my orthotics and was so easy to talk to. I definitely suggest these guys as your go to. read more

I have been an orthodics' patient for some time now and by the advise of my foot doctor at St. Pauls' Hospital, I went there to get a pair of shoes. I got a pair of shoes $400, and asked about the value. Apparently te price included a couple of "tune ups" so I agreed. I was quite happy with my shoes and returned a number of times for adjustments and replacement inserts, which I paid for each time (approx. $50.00 each time) I was quite happy with the service. The time, I went there, I made an appointment to see the guy(always required, by the way, they are like doctors there)and went down to get my shoes looked at, again he charged me for the inserts and I went to pay the cashier, the cashier had added an additional $50.00 to the bill. I was in a hurry, so I paid the bill and left. I talked to my foot doctor about this some time later and he was quite unimpressed by this. I had been told by Paris, that these shoes were only available through them and that the price was the lowest that they could charge. I later checked online and found stores in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton that carried the shoe that I had, so I enquired, and it was amazing, they ranged in price from $135 to $180 and they would ship to Vancouver for free. I made sure that the price quoted was in writing from all the suppliers and once I was sure, I ordered a pair, and guess what, you CAN acquire the shoes cheaper elsewhere and the service didn't cost me $50 service charge!! I don't recommend this place unless you like getting charged for the service you receive!! Its like getting charged $50 to have your new set of tires that you just paid $500 to purchase, installed! read more

I was a walk-in with no appointment, and benefited much more than I expected. Stephen Paris expertly diagnosed my problem with heel pain; he recommended options for treating it including proper shoes, cushioning and specific exercises. Also, without being asked, he identified an on-going problem related to my high arch and offered suggestions to ameliorate that problem. I'm now on the mend and am so grateful for his skill and expertise! read more

Please don't go here - I hope to warn you to prevent wasting your time, money and health here. Whilst the pedorthotists here are good at making first impressions they prooved to be incompetent and unprofessional. Especially beware of Martha Paris and Tessa Fensom. They advised me to spend $400 on shoes with specific high heels (a major no-no for plantar fasciitis) which worsened my condition so I could barely stand up and then disassembled my orthotics into messy pieces as a long term solution! They disrespect patient privacy by doing patient appointments in their public waiting room/shop where you can openly hear how many errors they make including hearing reception staff frequently on the phone apologizing to clients for problems with their Paris orthotics. Martha is constantly asking her colleagues for second opinions because she doesn't know how to do do her job and if you try to hold her accountable to her word she will take at least 2 weeks to call you back. They do not follow through on several promises they make - they forgot to document basic important findings from assessments, forgot to make important changes to orthotics and forgot to discuss with physio. Physios and Orthotic specialists I have seen since have been shocked at Paris staff services and had to do a lot of work to rectify the mess Paris staff had made. read more
