My brother and sister in law from Northern Iowa were flying out of Des Moines IA en route to help move my nephew and his wife back from El Paso TX as his enlistment in the Army was ending. Their daughter had driven them to Ankeny. I picked them up from there, drive them to their hotel on the South side, and we were hanging out a little the evening before their flight. Both use CPAPs and had forgotten to grab distilled water. I ran them for their hotel over to this Walgreens to get what they needed along with a few snacks and stuff. It's probably a little older location and could use some TLC in areas, but they have a great selection of items and service was fine.

By late afternoon, I had not received the expected text to pick up my prescription. I called and was told there was no prescription in the system. I called my Dr's office thinking it was a problem on their end, but it was the end of the work day and someone had to investigate it. I was contacted early the next morning by my Dr's office saying they had re-sent the script (and verified the pharmacy and location). This was around 7 AM. By nine, there was still no prescription for me in Walgreen's automated system. So I called and finally talked to a pharmacist. She was quite rude, informing me that there were 37 prescriptions in her in box and she would not look to see if mine was among them. An hour later, when Walgreen's still did not have my prescription in their automated system, I called the Dr's office and requested they send the script to a different pharmacy. I got my prescription with no issues from Medicap. I will not be using the Walgreens on Fleur for any prescriptions going forward.

Good luck if you can get in and out of the pharmacy in under a hour. The line always takes forever and a day, wouldn't be too bad if they would move with a purpose. Seems like is a hassle for them to open up the second register when there is a big line. Not too mention if you ever need help or order a special photo from this location, they will most definitely find a way to mess up or lose it. Finally I had enough and don't stop there, I would rather drive the extra distance to Hy-Vee.

Sine then, we have had other issues with ins, paperwork, refills, etc. I have always been treated like I was their only patient. For me, customer service wins out every time. I saved 60% on my total bill shopping at Cash Saver, even factoring in the 10% to the total that Cash Saver adds. I decided (on a whim, and just for fun) to try this little experiment again. The only thing Cash Saver had that wasn't available at Hy-Vee was egg nog. I substituted egg nog (1.96) for eggs at Hy-Vee (1.99). Otherwise, the Best Choice store brand was switched to the Hy-Vee store brand, national brands stayed the same. Here is my total: 34 items, Cash Saver 63.85 34 items, Hy-Vee 128.35 -0.03 for egg nog THIS IS A TOTAL SAVINGS OF 64.47! And, that is also accounting for the 10% added to the total. I have never had an issue finding what I need here. I love this store. Before you dismiss it, learn your way around the store. At least try getting your staples here. Sometimes I see expired products, just let the manager know.Its because not a lot of people are shopping here, and that's a shame.

The customer service area should not be shut down with the lights off during business hours.. I've seen several customer needs not being met because of this .I myself had to go to Hy-Vee to get my much needed service. This female employee often gets on the intercom announcing to all employees to stop doing what they are doing/stocking shelves cutting meat from the meat dept. etc. and get carts from outside while she doesn't help poor customer service not a good example.

Windsor Heights is the closest Hy-Vee location to my apartment. I'm not a masochist so Walmart wasn't even on the table... After acceptance set in I moved all my Rxs to the Hy-Vee pharmacy in Windsor Heights and got my insurance on file etc. It wasn't too bad. We still go around now and then when the online system mysteriously drops one of my regular prescriptions because it has "expired" even though they are Rxs I've had for years and will probably be taking for the reset of my life... Or their system won't take my co-pay card for Eliquis that is valid, has been on file, and I've been using if for months... Despite these bumps I've gotten used to them. I do love the staff! And kind of enjoy the novelty of the retro drive through setup. I can't tell you the last time I've had to use a wall phone handset... Lol It is what it is. If you're like me and have no other options... This Hy-Vee location isn't too bad for your pharmaceutical needs.

I usually hit HyVee first after checking their sale fliers online. I don't do a lot of my shopping here because their prices are higher than Walmart, but they do have great sales on produce and meat very often. So that's what I get there. I like that their parking lot is easy to get in and out of without a hassle. The store is also the perfect size for me. It's not too big and not too small. Their meat counter is great. I'm a regular there so I tend to see the same familiar faces every week. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I really love the fuel saver/rewards card. I usually save $2-$3 on laundry detergent from the digital coupons each month because I'm a member. They also have other great deals for members including saving on gas. I just feel very at home here. When I go to other HyVee stores it just doesn't feel the same. I hope I never move too far because I love this store.
