I came in to Medexpress today as a walk in. I'm pretty sure I have bronchitis. I was surprised to see no one in the waiting area. I walked up to reception and ask to be seen, I was told they had no appointments available, wait isn't this a walk in clinic? There is no one, not one person in the waiting room, I'm sorry we just can see you? Really? I'm sorry, you need to take down the sign that says walk in, and you get an F for quality care and patient care. This place is a JOKE! read more

I am very unhappy with Med Express Culpeper! I drove my husband there to be seen for a swollen hand and electrical shocks and tingling. We arrived before 7 pm and waited in line until 7:23 pm to be told by the Receptionist that we could not be seen because there was only one doctor on duty and only a few slots open to assist patients! They should put a note on the door with these policies! And, why did she make us wait in line all that time she should have told us when we came through the door! I assume the staff in the back on their cell phones were way too busy to help sick patients! And, there was one Hispanic in front of us and one behind us and both of them were seen!!!! Geez! We have excellent insurance and pay $1600 per month to be told we couldn't be seen!! The Department of Health Professions will be notified and this place should be shut down! Shame on them!!!! read more

The staff signing me in was very nice, the two nurses checking me in were funny and the nurse practitioner (from Tupelo Mississippi) was kind and didn't beat around the bush. Just by me talking she knew I had a sinus infection, after listening to my lungs she immediately told me what needed to be done I was in and out within 30 minutes, the prescriptions were at my pharmacy and I was heading to bed. Nice looking facility, but here are my concerns: 1. There are no check-in screens like at Patient First; you have to remotely check in and fill out an online form. When you're dizzy and feeling faint, that's very difficult to do. 2. The remote check-in software stopped the process (apparently because "dizzy" might be an indication of something more serious like a heart attack), and instructed me to go right inside and meet the person at the front desk. I showed her my phone and without looking at it told me that's because she stopped all check-ins as they're not taking anymore patients (evidently, there was only one doctor on staff). I could have been having a heart attack and they ignored it. 3. I brought my daughter in the next day for dizziness and headache, and they charged me emergency room prices! So just be aware that they charge more because they don't provide primary care, so you might as well just go to the emergency room. Or you can just go to Patient First in Gainesville or Manassas. read more

My husband went to go and get a DOT physical and the facility told him they were Closed at 2 pm on a Saturday due to staff shortages. Since this a chain why didn't they pull employees from another med express. Seems management and staff is unprofessional and unorganized. Customers cannot depend on this location for open/closures. I arrived at Med Express at 8:45 AM and called from the parking lot as instructed. I called but their number was busy. I called 10 more time over the next 15 minutes and it was still busy! Finally got someone to answer the phone but they immediately put me on hold! I was on hold for the next 15 minutes! They told me I was number 6 on the list for a COVID test and it would be another 30 minutes. I waited another hour and no call came so I went inside to use the restroom and stopped by the reception desk to inquire where I was on the list. They told me i was now number 11on the list!! The receptionists had no idea what was going or who was next! Out of pure frustration I finally left! No more trips to MedExpress! I gave it one star because the bathroom was clean! read more

I called in the early morning and got an appointment for 3:15 pm, was advised to come in at 3 pm. Came in and 3 and was told there were four people before and was asked if I was okay to wait. Was fine with waiting as there were only 4 people in the waiting room. Fast forward an hour and at this point 7 people have been seen. Went up to ask when I would be next and was told I was the next one in line. Then after another 20 finally was brought back and asked why I came in. (Wanted to test for Covid and the flu). Then was advised again four people were in front of me and that I had to wait for the provider. The nurse let me know that since there was only one provider in today things were a little slow. Understandable but then as another hour passes and still I'm sitting in the back room and no one has come to say anything I finally ask if my results can be emailed because I've waited over 2 hours collectively. The nurse at the station said they don't email results and that I was "next" to be seen and to wait a little longer. She said that they been behind by two hours all day. I understand that they things happen but if you know you're behind let alone behind by two hours that you should let your staff know that appointments should not be made and walk ins should be monitored based on availability at the time. I am still at this time waiting to be seen by the provider just to be told if the swab that was taken over an hour ago shows positive or negative. I do not recommend this establishment and for anyone wanting to come here, I would ask the wait time even if you're making an "appointment". read more

I wish there was a minus. They simply can't get there billing in order. It is sad how patience's have to call every month I have Medicare/medicade insurance I should NOT have a balance ever. Yet every month without fail I have a balance. I can't find one employee who can fix this. Update: it's been years since its wrote my review. 1st, regarding my back pain. It turns out I had a herniated disc and I had back surgery to remove it. In fact, I had two back surgeries and I'm still in pain. My daughter's pinky was broken. It was an adolescent break that's rare. When I went to them for my knee It was a torn ACL and torn meniscus and I had knee surgery. In Sept 2016 my hubby brought me to them bc I was incoherent, lethargic, vomiting and week. I couldn't keep food, meds or water down. Them motherfu**ers told my hubby I'm having a drug overdose and take me to the ER. My hubby told them it's impossible to overdose when I don't do drugs and I can't keep my meds down. So he took me to the ER. Well come to find out I was going through diabetic ketoacidosis, kidney failure, sepsis, 106 degree temperatures, gallstones, pancreatitis. I was diabetic and didn't know. My blood sugar was 1358. I ended up being in a coma for seven days in the ICU. I was also on life support and dialysis. All med express had to do was look at my symptoms, do tests and they probably could have caught it. But I'm glad they were incompetent otherwise I would be dead. I can't in good conscience go back to them.. read more

Once they have my phone number they'll leave a message saying they are investigating and that a manager will be getting in touch with me. They never do because they know they royally messed up and they don't want to make that admission. So, no. I will not contact you AGAIN! Before going to Med Express earlier today, I read reviews in which people seemed unhappy about slowness of service. Although I wanted a professional evaluation about a foot injury, I did not consider this to be an "emergency" and mentally prepared for a long, drawn out experience. That didn't happen. Paperwork/information gathering was professional and pleasant. So was the next administrative stage. Later, a nurse practitioner (?) and nurse (assistant) took vitals and eyeballed "the problem" -- some nasty bruising and considerable foot pain after encountering solid furniture the previous evening. After that, I briefly waited to meet with the doctor, who advised x-rays. Three images were taken on site. After that, I met with the doctor. In addition to talking about his evaluation, he showed me the x-rays of what turned out to be a minor fractured bone injury and advised me on how to proceed to manage pain and recover. All In all, I was there about 90 minutes, even though there were 4 or 5 other patients ahead of me. I appreciated the professionalism and patience of all the staff I had contact with. I was given paperwork to remind me of the recommended course of action to follow and which can also be shared with my primary physician at my next appointment. Would I recommend this Med Express? Based in my experience earlier today, absolutely! read more

This is definitely the chick-fil-a of urgent care facilities. The entire staff are exceptional. From the receptionists to the nurses/techs and doctors, they are all warm, friendly & professional. I've used this facility a few times for sick kids after doctors office hours & sports physicals. I have also experienced the long wait times other reviewers write about..its always been for the doctor, never because staff are slacking. I'll be back as needed because I have always received top notch care, just plan for a possible wait. read more

I am furious. We arrived and checked in around 7:15 and was told it would be over an hour wait. I let them know that I would be in the car with my one year old and they said they would call us when they were ready. I never received a call or voicemail. I sat out there the entire time and they had taken my payment. I had told them I would come in and tell them If I decided to leave. I saw one of the last patients get in their vehicle around 8:40 and I was approaching the door when all of the lights shut off. The doors were locked. To make matters worse no one stopped for us when they saw us, multiple employee vehicles flew past us with the exception of the front desk lady who checked me in. She apologized and claimed the providers were gone and that they called and left multiple voicemails and even came out and looked. Nothing was ever seen or received on my end. She said she would go in and leave a note for her manager to refund me and apologized. This is extremely unprofessional and as a nurse myself who works in urgent care settings, someone dropped the ball and someone should've been held accountable. My one year old should have been seen considering the entire situation was uncalled for. Not one of them can claim that they did not see us. the one star is for the fact that the front desk lady actually stopped and acknowledged us, thank you! read more

If I could ZERO STAR review to a single person, I would on THIS page. Usually I am very satisfied with my experience here at Med Express. They're a tad slow, but its always a delightful experience. Last night when I went in, I have never been more disrespected. Dr.Peter Vandermeid was absolutely terrible. I felt extremely belittled and disrespected. He wasn't going to even treat me until I asked him to. He laughed at me and made me feel awful about coming in. It was absolutely ridiculous service and I cant believe I had to pay him for such a disgusting doctors visit. I had to call a different doctor to find out what was really going on with me.. which is insane. He was a complete waste of my time. My only advice, when you go to Med Express just pick a different doctor. Dr. Vandermeid was a joke. read more

Waited almost 3 hours in the car to be seen. They shouldn't be called MedExpress. Too slow.

My wife and I were traveling through Culpeper when she fell ill. I read reviews, and hesitated after reading. We needed medical care and went to MedExpress as it was the most convenient. Our experience was fantastic. We spent the bulk of the day there as they treated my wife. She had either the flu, a virus, or food poisoning and was violently ill. Bridget, at checkin, took the time to retrieve a blanket for my wife. Kim did both triage and care throughout the day. She brought a personal space heater in the room to assure my wife was warm. She brought me water and crackers, recognizing I spent the day by my wife's side. They cared for the patient and did not rush her off to free the bed. They were truly concerned to get my wife well. In the end we did go to the ER as the facility was unable to run bloodwork and perform other tests. Our complete experience, including the ER, revealed a heath care culture focused on the patient and family. Thanks Culpeper community. read more

Nice people. Friendly front desk. Good appt with nurse practitioner. But staff weren't wearing masks, or had their mask pulled down below their nose (which is pointless might as well not wear a mask). Numerous people in the waiting room were wearing their mask below their nose. Seriously unprofessional for a medical office. Especially in light of the fact they had my son with a temperature wait outside until they were ready to see him. Which is the right thing to do. But they should have everybody staff and clients put on a damn mask above the nose. Wouldn't recommend until they get this fixed. read more

Went in for a Covid Test and was promptly and efficiently processed by customer service before being sent to the back room for the test. Nurse and assistant were easy on my nose and didn't jam or leave in the stick unnecessarily long unlike other places. Follow on assistance from customer service was more than excellent even when I called near closing. read more

Came here twice in an attempt to get a PPD for work. Both times was there 30-50 minutes just sitting in the waiting room waiting. It literally takes less than a minute to do. I told them I had to be at work at 11 and they didn't seem to care. I saw multiple staff members talking, laughing, and not seeming productive. The woman who was supposed to be checking people in was moving at a snails pace, and was the main reason I wasn't able to be taken care of that day. She spent most of the 50 minutes I was there talking to her co-workers. I'm going to my primary care provider to get this done. read more

The place is bright and clean, the staff friendly and efficient, and the doctor who treated me was exemplary: Dr Herman Stubbe. He was so warm, caring and wonderful, if I didn't already have a family doctor I loved, I'd probably just come here for all my medical needs. As for the other reviewers complaining about the wait---what do you expect? It's a walk-in clinic, and sometimes they're going to be swamped. I was seen within an hour, which seemed reasonable, got my diagnosis & prescription and headed right over to CVS next door. Everyone at the front was pleasant, but the doctor I saw ruined the visit. After waiting in the exam room for 40 minutes, she conducted a poor and rushed assessment. I had a very sore throat and she didn't even look at it! After her 30 second assessment, she asked briskly "So what, you want a narcotic cough syrup?". Um, no. I just need to breathe, a steroid for my inflamed bronchioles will do just fine. I had 3 sick children last week. the primary doctor could not fit them all in so I had no cnoice but to go to medexpress. they took us all right back. all the staff were great. they made my kids very comfortable. they had us in and out in an hour. I will definitely go back . I liked the doctor we saw there more than I do their primary doctor. read more

While I was glad to find a place I could go to on a Saturday afternoon, I will not go back to Med Express. I waited over an hour (expected) but then was rushed in and out without a proper exam (not expected). The nurse practitioner was with me less than 10 minutes, prescribed an antibiotic with no diagnostics and recommended OTC medications. The antibiotic seemed to help while I was on it but I had a relapse 3 days after finishing. I thought about going back there but when my bill came and it showed a charge of $220 before insurance, my conclusion was that Med Express was way too expensive for the long wait and minimal care I received. I went to another practice where a nurse practitioner spent 20 minutes with me and really considered all I was telling her before prescribing treatment. Perceived value is very important and I felt ripped off. read more

I would not even give this place one star! Maybe for the cleanliness, but that's it. I have taken my daughter there twice and I will not go back again. The first time she had poison oak and they diagnosed her with shingles and put her on shingles medicine which cost us a $100 and made her sick. Then we ended up taking her to her primary doctor, which cost more money, and diagnosed her with poison oak. I would have went to the primary doctor first if they were available at the time. My second experience with them, is I took my daughter for a cough that made her chest hurt. I figured URI or bronchitis. He listened to her lungs, then stepped out and took his cell call, and then listened to her again. Then started naming off all these meds he wanted to give her. She went home with three Rx's. An antibiotic for bacterial infections, okay, a pill to help with sleeping and allergies (also treats anxiety), and a pill to help with breathing problems because she had a little wheezing (this med treats blood disorders, arthritis, cancers, etc.)!! What the hell!!! She should have went home with Singulair, Albuterol, and an antibiotic. I spent money on the Rx's and I am not giving her two of them; only the antibiotic. I'll probably end up at her primary care over the weekend. I am all for having another option due to the primary pediatricians being so overwhelmed, but I am more concerned that my family receive proper health care and the correct medicines to make them healthy. If medicine is needed; it's not always needed and Med Express is so quick to write a Rx. I will honestly drive to Warrenton before I go back to Med Express again. I hope this helps someone else. read more
