Hired Water Works Services to remove an old water softener and replace the coper piping. They were…read morerecommended by Home Advisor. They showed up on time, did the work quickly and the work looks great. Then after using the water it was determined that the water pressure was low, most noticeable of the 2nd floor. Contacted Water Works Services and after texting them back and forth, I figured out that the hot water pressure was low. The Plummer indicated that they had turned off the hot water shutoff valve while they were working on the water main piping. I turned the valve to open it up and it just kept spinning. This indicated that the valve was broken, it would not close or open, it was stuck in the middle somewhere. Water Works Services came back out and fixed the valve for no charge. They stood by their work which was a nice surprise.

I had some challenges with a recent gas-leak repair strikingly similar to Lauren S. When I…read morescheduled the appointment, I was told a written estimate would be provided before work began and that the total cost would likely be around $400-$500, based on a rate of $185 per hour for labor. The final bill, however, was well over $2,000. I was not provided an estimate on site. Two technicians were sent, and it turned out that the billing was calculated at $185 **per person per hour**, including drive time that appeared longer than travel time at rush hour from their headquarters according to Google. After reviewing the invoice, I had to seek legal advice and confirmed through an independent witness that the technicians were on site for only a few hours. We ultimately reached a resolution after considerable back-and-forth. I would recommend asking for a written estimate and a clear explanation of hourly billing before authorizing work. Write down everything and do not proceed unless you have a written estimate you agree with.
