The hall is nothing special, pretty much a standard hall with tables and chairs that can be set out, but if the lights are turned down and a DJ is hired there have been some quite good nights had in there. There used to be an older football club on the site but it was burnt down in some sort of 'mysterious' accident. Probably for the best, as it essentially doubled as an underage nightclub!

Buy a little bag of animal feed, run past the creepy tanks full of spiders and snakes and then you'll find several pens full of the cutest animals - if you've got kids be prepared for them to declare themselves veggie from now on! We have had lovely sandwiches made fresh, followed by slices of home-made cake and lashings of ginger beer! If it's rainy, make sure you bring your wellies - it can be a bit muddy. And some handwipes if you get fussy about goat saliva all over your hands. But for a some time spent playing with goats that only come up to your knees - it's well worth the visit!

We had an excellent evening, especially as deepest winter is not exactly high season for dog races. Mind you, they soldier on and the dogs probably run faster than ever to keep warm. The betting was fun as well and as long as you stick to the minimum amounts of just £1 for a simple bet you can't lose a lot of money either. Staff are very friendly and patiently explain the rules to complete novices like me. The dogs really are the main attraction, you wouldn't come here on the strength of the food. There's probably a reason the regulars prefer standing out in the cold. Nuff said.

This small county museum is a real gem. The permanent collections address only the history and…read morenatural history of Buckinghamshire. The small complex of buildings in which it is housed is itself worth further investigation as it is located in the last remaining area that exudes the atmosphere of Aylesbury when it was a small but vibrant market town. Staff are very helpful and approachable (not only the attendants but curators too) If you visit, don't miss the Lenborough hoard and, for a provincial museum, the remarkable collection of modern studio ceramics (The only bit of the collection that extends its interest beyond Buckinghamshire) . Although if you have a real interest in ceramics a visit to the reserve collection at Halton might be on the cards! The museum also houses the archive of the Bucks Archaeological Society available for research on Wednesday. Special exhibitions are staged regularly and it is with anticipation that I await the Elizabeth Frink exhibition scheduled for February. Finally, the small café is the ideal place to relax for a coffee away from the plethora of coffee houses close by.

They have plenty of things to see there, and laso run free exhibitions regularly. Our girls aren't the best behaved or quietest people in the world, but we didn't get a bad response from the staff or other visitors, despite the youngest being completely terrified of the holograms and screaming the place down. The museum was clean and airy, and well set out, and it wasn't too busy either which is nice. Don't expect it to be a whole day worth of activity, but it will keep them entertained for a couple of hours. The museum is next door to the Roald Dahl museum (not free unfortunately) which is great for kids between 5 and 11 years old ish, I wouldn't bother if they're any younger really as they won't get it.
