The snooker club is only accessible by walking up a flight of stairs, so could be a bit tricky if you are in a wheelchair etc. Although there may possibly be a lift due to new equality legislation, I havnt noticed one though! There are quite a few snooker/pool tables which are well lit, and a bar which serves all the usual drinks. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed.

The hall is nothing special, pretty much a standard hall with tables and chairs that can be set out, but if the lights are turned down and a DJ is hired there have been some quite good nights had in there. Almost like there was a crisis going on out the back. It made me feel a little uncomfortable. Having said that.. the food is FANTASTIC. They do take-away so that cures the wierd atmosphere problem. Noting that my wife is American, and more interested in Milton than myself, he was able to speak at length about Milton's contribution to the philosophy behind the founding of the American constitution. There are a lot of rare, and probably priceless books, and artifacts in the museum, although I was more interested in the layout of the building, wondering if it had been like that for 400 years or if any re-construction work had gone on.

It's an easy walk from Pinner station. It's currently only open Friday-Sunday, but I booked in a group tour and took along 15 people. You enter through the ubiquitous gift shop, which isn't large but has a changing range of items by local artists, as well as books and other little things that I totally wanted. There are 3 rooms - an activity studio, a temporary exhibition, and a permanent exhibition. We couldn't go into the activity studio as it was being used for a half-term activity - glass painting. But there was a sign saying that on a Friday, they have an artist who uses the room to sketch and you are welcome to go in and watch and ask questions. The permanent exhibition is chronological and it was really interesting to see the variety of work that Heath Robinson did - but as ever, having a tour makes a big difference as you get a lot of context and little stories that bring it all to life. The temporary exhibition is currently on the brothers Robinson, and had a great breadth of work from the three Robinsons, including items on loan from the family, things that haven't ever been seen before. The group I brought (all over 60s) were fascinated by the whole thing. Even though I went along knowing very little about Heath Robinson, I enjoyed my visit, too. Our group tour was £5 per person, and another £30 for the steward to do the tour. Normal tickets are £6-ish.

Up until 18 months ago this was probably the best Indian Restaurant in outer London and wouldave given some of the famous central Lonon Restaurants a run for their money. It is rumoured that the Indian Cricket team used to get their food shipped from here when they played in London. Note, however, that this is an Indian Restaurant and not a Bangladeshi restaurant. The food is fiercely Indian and there is not much on the menu that you would recognise from a standard curry house. The sad thing though is that about 18 months ago the owners fell out and parted ways. Since then the restaurant has not been so busy and the standard of the food has slipped. My understanding is that the awesome team of chefs has now been split over several restaurants in the area including Baad Sahib which is only a few doors down. Sahib's is still a cut above the rest but nowhere near as good as it was. If you do happen to go then treat yourself to the Chilli Panner and the Garlic Tiger Prawns. They are to die for.

My husband and I had our wedding at Berkhamsted Town Hall in July and it turned out to be the…read moreperfect venue, after a tough time finding somewhere suitable and affordable. It's a lovely old building which has a quaint story behind it of needing to be rescued from the threat of closure in the 1970's. The staff were incredibly helpful in the run-up to the event and on the day itself, including the bar manager who made sure everyone got their glass of bubbly at the right moment. The Great Hall has fabulous high ceilings and old fashioned beams and a fireplace along one wall, with loads of room for a sit-down meal for 80 people and then dancing afterwards. The only small draw-back is the close proximity of the Berkhamsted Saturday market, which prevents the use of the front entrance for photos, although this gave us a good excuse to drag everyone to Berkhamsted castle for photos after the ceremony.
