Great food nice people…read more The meat was very good but VERY VERY expensive. Also their sandwiches are very good but very small. $16.95 got me a pulled pork but it was served on a Martin's Potato Roll, which while tasty is tiny. They're not even using the "Martin's BIG Potato Rolls" just the small regular ones. The sandwiches come with chips for free or fries for an upcharge -- But the chips are homemade and frankly way better than the fries! That said again it was good but for the price the sandwiches should be much bigger. They were dog friendly and very nice which we loved. We will be back soon!

The steak sandwich was yummy, thinly sliced cuts beef, gooey cheese and well seasoned. The sandwich would been better on roll or crusty bread over a hamburger bun though. House-made potato chips were my favorite, well seasoned and cooked just to crispy, other places tend to burn chips but here just right. The filet taco, was very small, mostly a just two bites. It's meat filling was alright, tiny diced but filled the space. The taco sauce though was fire, very savory and well seasoned, almost wish the meat was cooked on the sauce rather than salt and pepper it. Have to come back and buy some of the raw stuff for home, since a very wide selection of cuts is here I can't get at supermarket for sure

Watch your receipts all of you, especially tourists!!!! As a person on fixed income, and a local,…read moreThey are overcharging customers for (sliced deli ) meat, (and who knows what else I did not bother to hang around and find out ) by ADDING SALES TAX TO DELI MEAT. Yes to prepared sandwiches! NO , Never to slides deli meat, or any meat! Instead of fixing the problem they offered to refund my money. I actually wanted the board head product( without paying sales tax on meat. ) I don't understand what they thought they were or think they're doing. It's illegal!!!! Best deli meat ever ,in my opinion ,is Boars Head & they have it. I've worked at numerous deli's (Adam's) and Supermarkets, ie: Waldbaums, where you had to actually Know what was taxable and not taxable . And I'm sure a bunch of other people can't agree that, meat , in this case,is not taxable. He knew he was wrong. He said he was in the middle of updating his system. But instead of fixing the problem, and taking off the sales tax so I could leave with the meat , I would have loved to have had & give them my money at $13.99 /lb (a bit high, but was willing to pay for it) He offered my money back so that the next unknowing, tourist, (tourist town, or regular person )in particular would go in there and actually pay him the extra bit of money he's getting that you don't have to claim on your tax forms because it's not a section on the form to pay tax on because MEAT IS NOT taxable. So he's collecting money just like my vet did in Lake Katrine New York collected money on my dog's medicine on sales tax until I caught it. Medicine is not taxable at all either. Including Band-Aids, aspirin, medicated shampoo. Just be careful consumers out there. Because if you're not paying attention, they'll take your money, because that is exactly what is happening when they tax items that don't belong BEING TAXED. It's our country's 250th birthday where we didn't pay the sales tax on the TEA ( 250 years later, we're still not paying sales tax on Tea. (Or coffee) You are welcome;-)! I'm sure I am one of the first and few that have noticed tax on meat, in that store & brought it to their attention So hopefully I am not banned from that store. I will let you know in about 60 days or so. Update btw need to say, I really don't want to be that person to "hurt " local businesses but someone needs to know and if it were a big corporation I'd post it too. I obviously didn't buy the meat nor have any thoughts of posting anything about the company.or I'd have had my phone out to screen shot it. But that was my experience trying to get my favorite deli meat (and willing to pay the $2.00 tourists tax I call it jokingly) more per lb than most anywhere in Ulster county but wasn't willing to pay sales tax. Hope they have" fixed ". Their system. What a waste of a pound of turkey too. Rather than acknowledge the fact and sell it to me correctly.

We didn't have much luck fishing that day so we ended up going to the Pork Store and getting some racks of ribs . Also picked up some fresh corn at a farm stand and grilled those babies up. Veteran Pork Store has been around for as long as I can remember. I grew up in this town, and a…read morerestaurant that I worked at in HS served their Double Smoked Slab Bacon! It's AMAZING. You can have them slice it as thin or as thick as you like. I usually go with 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick slices. This is probably the best bacon I have ever eaten in my life. The first preparation: done by Cafe Tamayo, was 1/2 inch rectangular chunks sauteed in a pan until the outside has a nice golden, crispy crunch to it. They would then let it cool and using it as a topping for their Beat, Orange, and Goat Cheese salad (also had some nice home made red cabbage on it). The second preparation: I brought 2 lbs of this thick cut bacon on an annual camping trip, thinking it would make the most Bad Ass Bacon Egg & Cheese sandwich EVER... Success... Got up early, built and nice fire and waited till the wood burned down to a nice bed of coals before laying these slabs on the steel grate. As the excess fat rendered off and dripped onto the hot coals, random flair ups caused flames to kiss, char, and smoke these little bites of heaven to a mouth watering goodness. Served on a hard roll, with over easy eggs and manchengo cheese. (Next years version will include scallion with the eggs, and maybe a different cheese selection, O yeah and 1 lbs of bacon PP, 1/2 an lbs pp for a 3 day weekend was not enough) I can't speak on the rest of the items that this full service butcher offers. The display case looked like it was packed with all the necessary cuts to satisfy anyone. I'm sure I will get around to trying other things, but at the moment its all about the bacon.
